1. GENERALITÀ / GENERAL INTRODUCTION
1.2 Campi di Impiego / Fields of use

Le valvole e i rubinetti a sfera NTM possono essere, a seconda della serie scelta, utilizzati in impianti idraulici per
l’adduzione di acqua calda e fredda in apparecchiature industriali o in installazioni civili, o in impianti e apparecchiature per l’adduzione di gas, ad esempio:
a) Impianti sanitari
b) Applicazioni agricole
c) Sistemi di riscaldamento
d) Sistemi di distribuzione
e) Sistemi di tubazioni per fluidi non corrosivi e non abrasivi
f) Sistemi di tubazioni per gas
Essi sono realizzati in conformità al D.M. 174 del 06/04/2004
e pertanto possono venire utilizzati anche per il passaggio di
acqua potabile.
Per l’uso con gas infiammabili invece sono previste specifiche versioni di valvole a sfera a norma EN331.
Queste ultime possono essere impiegate con gas di città
(1a famiglia), gas metano (2a famiglia), gas liquefatti (3a
famiglia) e in genere tutti i gas previsti nella norma EN 437,
nei seguenti sistemi:
1) Apparecchiature domestiche ed industriali
2) Sistemi di riscaldamento
3) Sistemi di distribuzione di Gas in genere
4) Impianti a gas in bassa e media pressione
Tutte le valvole e i rubinetti a sfera NTM sono naturalmente idonei anche per usi con fluidi diversi da acqua e gas,
purché tali fluidi siano compatibili con le caratteristiche di
impiego e dei materiali descritte in questo catalogo.

Depending on the series chosen, NTM ball bibcocks and ball
valves can be used in hydraulic circuits for the adduction of
hot and cold water in industrial or civil installations, or systems and equipment for gas adduction, for example:
a) Sanitary installations
b) Agricultural applications
c) Heating systems
d) Distribution systems
e) Pipelines for not corrosive and not abrasive fluids
f) Gas pipeline systems
They are made conforming to Ministerial Decree 174 of
06/04/2004 and so can also be used for the passage of
potable water.
For use with flammable gasses on the contrary there are
specific ball valve versions complying with EN331 standard.
The last ones can be used with natural gas (1st family),
methane gas (2nd family), liquid gas (3rd family) and in
general all the gasses covered in standard EN 437, in the
following systems:
1) Domestic and industrial equipment
2) Heating systems
3) Gas distribution systems in general
4) Low and medium pressure gas installations
All NTM ball bibcocks and ball valves are of course suitable
for use with fluids other than water and gas, as long as
these fluids are compatible with the characteristics of use
and the materials described in this catalogue.

1.4 Famiglie / Families
Le valvole a sfera NTM sono divise in cinque famiglie, le
cui caratteristiche costruttive sono riassunte nel seguente prospetto. I rubinetti invece appartengono tutti alla medesima famiglia (LUNA).
NTM ball valves are divided into five families, whose constructional characteristics are summarised in the table
below. The ball bibcocks instead all belong to the same
family (LUNA).

lo Standard UNI EN ISO 228; oppure possono essere del tipo a
tenuta stagna sul filetto, e in tal caso sono ancora parallele ma
rispettano lo Standard UNI EN 10226 (ISO 7).
Maschio: le filettature di questo tipo possono essere del tipo non
a tenuta stagna sul filetto, e in tal caso sono parallele e rispettano
lo Standard UNI EN ISO 228; oppure possono essere del tipo a
tenuta stagna sul filetto, e in tal caso sono coniche e rispettano lo
Standard UNI EN 10226 (ISO 7).
Female: these threads can be of the not pressure-tight on the

Costruiti in ottone UNI EN 12165 CW617N stampato a caldo e sabbiato. Lavorati meccanicamente in modo da ottenere una doppia
tenuta (metallica+collante Loctite®).
In tutte le famiglie di valvole a sfera NTM esistono versioni Femmina-Femmina, Maschio-Femmina e Maschio-Maschio.
Esistono poi modelli specifici con connessioni a ogiva per tubi in
rame o con giunto a tre pezzi.
Tutte le valvole sono con connessioni di ingresso e uscita in asse,
tranne i modelli Art. 3362 - 3962 - 3963, che sono ad angolo retto.
I rubinetti invece sono tutti con attacco di ingresso con filetto Maschio e uscita a portagomma.
Può essere costruita in alluminio presso-fuso, con forma a leva o
a farfalla, ed in entrambi i casi è verniciata a polvere epossidica e
riporta in rilievo il marchio NTM e la dicitura MADE IN ITALY.
In alternativa può essere costruita in acciaio zincato, con rivestimento isolante in PVC, e riporta il marchio NTM e la dicitura MADE
IN ITALY.
Montata dall'interno del corpo per prevenire manomissioni e/o
scoppio (costruzione antideflagrante), nel rispetto delle rigide norme Americane e Canadesi (UL - CSA - FM). Assicura, grazie alle
due guarnizioni O-Ring in NBR70, una tenuta perfetta e a doppia
sicurezza.
SEDI SFERE
Tutte le sedi e relative sfere sono prodotte in modo da garantire un
angolo di chiusura >7°(angolo morto).

Made in brass UNI EN 12165 CW617N, hot forged and sandblasted. Mechanically machined in order to obtain a double seal
(metal+ Loctite® glue).
In all NTM ball valve families there are Female-Female, MaleFemale and Male-Male versions.
Then there are specific models with ring joints for copper pipes or
with a three-piece joint.
All valves have in-line inlet and outlet joints, except the models
Art. 3362 - 3962 - 3963, which are at a right angle.
Ball bibcocks instead have a male threaded inlet connection and
a hose tail outlet.
It can be made in die-cast aluminium, with a lever or butterfly
shape, and in both cases it is epoxy powder painted and embossed with the NTM brand and the words MADE IN ITALY.
Alternatively it can be made in galvanised steel, with a PVC insulating coating, embossed with the NTM brand and the words
MADE IN ITALY.
Fitted inside the body to prevent tampering and/or blow-out (explosion proof construction), conforming to the strict American and
Canadian standards (UL - CSA - FM). By means of the two O-Rings
in NBR70, it ensures a perfect double safety seal.
BALL SEATS
All the seats and relative balls are made in such a way as to guarantee a closing angle of >7°(dead angle).

La massima pressione nominale operativa per uso con liquidi è di
30 bar, di 40 bar o di 50 bar, a seconda dei modelli.
Per l’uso con gas infiammabili la pressione massima operativa
(MOP) è di 5 bar, che sale a 20 bar per i gas di terza famiglia (es.
propano, butano e in genere i gas noti come “gas liquidi”, che
appunto alle pressioni di stoccaggio si trovano allo stato liquido).
The maximum nominal operating pressure for use with liquids is
30 bar, 40 bar or 50 bar, depending on the models.
For use with flammable gasses the maximum operating pressure
(MOP) is 5 bar, rising to 20 bar for 3rd family gasses (e.g. propane,
butane and in general gasses known as “liquid gasses”, which at
storage pressure are in fact in a liquid state).
In linea di massima è il materiale delle guarnizioni elastomeriche
(O-Rings) a condizionare il campo di temperatura di impiego delle
valvole e dei rubinetti a sfera.
Le valvole ed i rubinetti a sfera NTM montano guarnizioni in NBR70
omologato per uso con acqua potabile e gas.
Il range di temperatura ammissibile è -25°C÷+125°C.
Tuttavia la norma di certificazione per il gas (EN331) limita il campo di impiego per le valvole a sfera a -20°C÷+60°C.
In general is the elastomeric seals (O-Rings) to condition the temperature range of the ball valves and ball bibcocks in use.
NTM ball valves and ball bobcocks are fitted with NBR70 seals
type approved for use with potable water and gas.
The permitted temperature range is -25°C÷+125°C.
However the gas certification standard (EN331) limits the range of
use for ball valves to -20°C÷+60°C.
Tutte le valvole a sfera per acqua sono marchiate come segue:
NTM - MADE IN ITALY - DNxx - FILETTO - PNyy, dove il valore di
DN è il diametro di passaggio nominale in mm e il valore di PN è
la massima pressione operativa.
Quelle per gas riportano una duplice marcatura per la pressione:
W-PNyy indica la massima pressione con acqua, mentre MOP520 indica il range di pressione con i gas (come indicato nel paragrafo PRESSIONE).
Per i rubinetti invece la marcatura consta di NTM - MADE IN ITALY
- FILETTO - PNyy, dove il valore di PN è la massima pressione
operativa.
All ball valves for water are marked as follows: NTM - MADE IN
ITALY - DNxx - THREAD - PNyy, where the DN value is the nominal
flow diameter in mm and the value PN is the maximum working
pressure.
Those for gas have a double marking for the pressure: W-PNyy
indicates the maximum pressure with water, while MOP5-20 indicates the pressure range with gas (as indicated in the paragraph
PRESSURE).
For ball bibcocks instead the marking is NTM - MADE IN ITALY
- THREAD - PNyy, where the value PN is the maximum working
pressure.
