JACK AND THE THIEF
This is the story of Jack and the thief. Jack is twelve years old. He lives in New York
with his family. They have a big computer store in the centre of town.
Jack doesn’t like going to school and he doesn’t like doing his homework. He likes
listening to rock music and playing computer games. Every day after school he goes
to his father’s store.
One afternoon Jack is very bored. He wants to have fun. “Help! Help! There’s a thief
in the store!” he says. All the people run into the store but there is no thief. They are
very angry. Jack laughs and laughs. “It isn’t funny! - says his father - Don’t tell lies!”
The next day Jack goes to the store again. He wants to have fun. “Help! Help!

One afternoon Jack is alone in the store. He sees a person near a big bookcase. He is

Jack. The thief picks up a computer and he runs outside.
