STRIKE IN FRANCE - 26 APRIL - THE IMPACT ON TRAINS
Reminder:
As these are exceptional commercial measures, please contact our Call Centre using the normal
contact details which you will find after logging in to the site. Please do not initiate after-sales
procedures online.
Due to a strike that has been announced in France, train traffic will be disrupted across the entire
network from Monday 25 April at 7pm until Wednesday 27 April at 8am.
For further details on timetables and service updates:
 visit http://www.sncf.com/en/passengers
 Contact our Call Centre using the normal contact details, which can be found once you have
logged in to the website.
Commercial measures have been put in place:
 Deferment possible up to D+1 without exchanging the ticket;
 Cost-free refunds authorised for all rates;
 Cost-free exchange (any difference being charged to the customer).
DOMESTIC FRANCE
TGV AND DAILY INTERCITÉS
The ticket can be used in any train running from 25 April from the first train in the morning until
midnight of 27 April (only the hour of departure of the train taken by the customer counts).
NIGHTLY INTERCITÉS
Since a seat-less swap may involve the unacceptable risk of no spaces being available on a night trip
(customer risks travelling without a seat), please advise customers who hold a travel ticket valid on
night INTERCITÉS to defer their journey to a day train running during the period indicated below (from
D-1 to D+1).
Non-exchangeable tickets may be used in the same conditions.
For everyone’s comfort, it is not recommended for groups to swap onto another train. A trip
cancellation (before departure) or a refund is recommended.
TRAVELLER’S TIMETABLE SUSPENDED
The traveller’s timetable does not apply during a strike. Whatever the ticket discount rate, the
customer is entitled to use any train running on the day of the strike, without taking into account the
period of the traveller’s timetable.
OBLIGATION TO STAMP TICKETS IN FRANCE
Stamping is maintained in all cases for ATB tickets.
REFUNDS
Cost-free refund whatever the rate, including non-exchangeable/non-refundable rates such as Prem’s.
For customers with return tickets who cannot make the return trip following the strike, you must, if
requested, refund at no cost all segments of the DV, whatever the rate. However, if the first part of
the journey has already been made and the customer is requesting a refund for the return part because
of the strike, the used part of the journey cannot be refunded. In the case of rates with mandatory
return conditions, the customer must then by re-taxed at another rate.
This rule applies to ATB tickets such as on the e-ticket, whether the customer requests a refund before
or after the train they’d booked onto leaves.
In order to streamline the refund application process and to better satisfy our customers, you can,
exceptionally, refund all tickets valid for the day of the social movement now if your customers so
request.
Reminder: refunds must be accepted when the customer holds a valid ticket or e-ticket for one of the
days of the strike and they may be made after the travel date indicated on the ticket, without
exceeding the legal validity limit of a travel ticket (61 days).

TGV BRUSSELS-PROVINCES
STATE OF TRAIN TRAFFIC
Very few trains will run but some trains are expected to operate between France and Belgium.
However, we recommend that you advise your customers to postpone their journeys.
FLEXIBILITY
Every ticket which includes a TGV Brussels-France or France-Brussels segment, with a reservation
covering all or part of the period of the industrial action in France (i.e. the period from 25/04/2016 at
7pm to 27/04/2016 at 8am) can be used for any other train on the same route, without the passenger
paying an extra charge, without a guaranteed seat, on the day before the strike (i.e. on 25/04), on the
day of the strike or on the day following the strike (i.e. 27/04).
Non-exchangeable tickets (“Prem’s” tickets) can be used in the same way.
For the comfort of everybody, groups are asked not to travel on a different train than the one they are
booked on. You should recommend to them that they postpone their voyage or obtain a refund.
IATA tickets must still be validated (i.e. stamped using a ticket validation machine) when travelling
from stations in France.
COMMERCIAL MEASURES
The commercial measures outlined above are applicable to customers who bought a TGV ticket which
originates or terminates in Brussels, and whose tickets are for trains scheduled to run between 25 April
at 7pm and 27 April at 8am.
Refunds
Refunds without administration charges
For customers who want to cancel their journeys, the refunds below are permitted without any
charges applying, irrespective of the fare paid:
 Refunds of tickets for a journey scheduled for the strike period (with or without a segment
connecting with the TGV Brussels-France segment);

Refunds of tickets as regards which only one of the segments takes place during the strike
period.
Refund in advance
In order to fluidify the refund application process and to better satisfy our customers, on an
exceptional basis, you can already request refunds of all TGV Provinces-Brussels tickets that are valid
for the days of the strike (namely Monday 25 April at 7pm to Wednesday 27 April at 8am) if customers
so request.
Exchanges
All tickets that feature a TGV Brussels-France or France-Brussels segment, with a reservation covering
all or part of the industrial action period in France, can be exchanged for a journey outside the period
of the industrial action (i.e. prior to 25/04/2016 at 7pm or after 27/04/2016 at 8pm).
N.B.: if there is a price difference between the cost of the initial ticket and of the new ticket, the
customer has to pay the difference.
Tickets must be exchanged within 60 days of the date of the initial travel, for a journey within 90 days
(in the event of a return journey, the return leg can be exchanged in the same way).
