Each new work is different, not strictly related to the previous one. We are not looking for style homogeneity, simply because we are not interested in it. Meeting something or someone unexpected, then looking for an uncanny image, which could be a picture, a drawing or a video. We seek that approach and we pursue beauty, rhythm and neatness. It is like telling the emotion of a trip, but showing only the central stage; by removing part of the information gathered on the way, we shape something similar to a forgotten slide, lost by a distant relative, not knowing by whom it was taken, where or when. Barbara and Ale1 1 Fino all’inizio 2014 conosciuti come Barbara Ceriani Basilico e Alessandro Mancassola. Until the beginning of 2014 known as Barbara Ceriani Basilico and Alessandro Mancassola. Poi, improvvisamente, è sceso il buio.’3 ‘I was leading with thirteen laps to go. The pace laps were crazy fast and all cars where one pit-stop to go. A Splash and Go, as they say referring to the last drop of fuel to bring the race to an end. I was swaying toward the box lane wich coasts the racetrack, when i thought: «I’ve made it!». For some reason the car whirled just in the middle of that uneven crossing and rushed through the lawn, ending up in the racetrack. While I was trying to control the spinning car, the group blowed in driving at 340 km/h and everything grew suddenly dark.’7 BCBAM: Uno degli aspetti che ci ha attratto della Sua storia è la vocazione dell’essere pilota, che è andata oltre ogni previsione dopo il grave incidente del Lausitzring4. Cosa significa avere questa vocazione? BCBAM: What attracts us most to your story is the vocation of being a racing driver, that surpassed every expectations after tragic Lausitzring’s8 crash. What does the follow-up call mean to you? AZ: What led me to fulfil my dream was the great passion I had for driving. This means my racing car has always been the first and last thought of my everyday. I can’t speak in terms of will, devotion or sacrifice about it. I had the privilege to turn a spontaneous feeling into a job, and i’m conscious it’s anything but a common mercy. Racing driver you say? Well, i think It could have been everything else, even if, obviously, in order to get your dream off the ground you need to start from something wich strictly belongs to you only. You will have to approach it step by step, as if you were building an house: you won’t be able to build the attic without starting with a solid foundation. 1 La versione integrale dell’intervista è stata pubblicata da Musumeci Editore nel catalogo ‘Il Coraggio, Arte contemporanea dalla Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo’, a cura di Ilaria Bonacossa, novembre 2010, p 24-27. 5 The full version of the interview has been published by Musumeci Edition in the catalog ‘Il Coraggio, Arte contemporanea dalla Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo’, curated by Ilaria Bonacossa, november 2010, pag. We shot from behind the scenes an event that celebrates man’s control over nature. In the very heart of Alps, at an altitude about 2000 meters, a giant dam keeps asleep the highest italian waterfall which is released five time a year, like a faucet. We were surprised and cloaked by a sudden fog that covered the whole landscape in minutes, throwing us into the void. London: Reynolds & Hearn | Traduzione a cura di Mariolina Gentile www.vimeo.com/barbaraandale « It’s a god-awful small affair, to the girl with the mousy hair... » 25 years after Life on Mars?, David Bowie said: «I think she (the girl with the mousy hair) finds herself disappointed with reality… that although she’s living in the doldrums of reality, she’s being told that there’s a far greater life somewhere, and she’s bitterly disappointed that she doesn’t have access to it... I suppose that now I would pity her, at the time I was feeling empathy with her»2. Impressed by the melody and the lyrics of this famous song, we asked two musicians with mental disorders to perform the song and they accepted to take a very long journey with us to go and record the video in a palladian villa. This is our vision of this god-awful small affair. Production, in Association with DE.MO. / Movin’up Chi sono esattamente i tifosi? Who exactly are fans? What do they do during the week? We went to Rauma (Finland) with these two questions to realize a video on the supporters of Lukko, the local ice hockey team which plays in the SM-liiga. The first part of the video shows the everyday life of the nine protagonists (9 to 83 years old, men and women) and of the town they live in, while in the second part they are shot inside the Arena, during a match. We never show the match throughout the video, we let the viewer imagine what the 9 fans are actually watching. The only explicit reference to hockey is in the film credits. This is the first episode of a series of films about supporters. «...I was a singer, a good one. I have known everybody in the music world of Italy, and in America my records sold well. I played with Floyd Cramer, his was the best piano in all of Nashville and I would put my voice. Try to ask in the music circles if they know who Roye Lee is and just listen to what they have to say!» Roye Lee We met Roye Lee in the streets of central Milan and we have listened to his voice singing and telling unbelievable stories. After 35 years he has returned on stage (teatro Out-Off, Milan), alone, with his emotions and his blues and country songs. The video is a fragment showing, through gazes, gestures and lyrics, a life to the extreme, an uncontrollable energy: this is our portrait of Roye Lee.
