To connect two nodes two hops are necessary. Positive: Low cost Terminal (2 K€), small dimension, Standard Multi-TXp-Multi-Satellite Network. Negative: Double satellite latency, limited upstreaming. Positive: Single Satellite latency, higher bitrate Streaming, Security Negative: huge antenna and Power (so high cost 20K€) …So? The Best? Property of Stefano Zara Star Network WAN HUB Property of Stefano Zara Star Multimedia Platform The receive sites are equipped with transmit/receive terminals connected to PC or LAN. The receiver of the terminal de-embeds the IP contents of DVB/IP channels transmitted from the satellite. The transmitter of the terminal transforms the IP stream in TDMA bursts that are transmitted via satellite to the Hub station connected to the platform. The position of the burst in the TDMA frame is given by the hub. Burst duration is automatically changed according to terminal needs and available capacity. Property of Stefano Zara Evolution in Mesh Network: SkyplexData SkyplexData The terminals encapsulate the IP streams into MPEG2 streams and transmit them to the satellite. Skyplex “On Board Processing” demodulates the SCPC signals,multiplexes the contributions from all the terminals and modulates a carrier which is retransmitted to all the terminals of the network. The connections between the terminals are established on the basis of PIDs and IP addresses.
