APERTE LE ISCRIZIONI/ REGISTRATIONS ARE OPEN
Un corso intensivo di due giorni pensato per tutti coloro che intendono pubblicare il proprio libro fotografico, trasformando una serie
di immagini in un autentico progetto editoriale, e capire quali sono le possibilità di produzione, distribuzione e marketing.
I partecipanti potranno approfondire i diversi “modelli”, dalla zine al tradizionale volume rilegato, analizzando le opere più significative di fotografi e artisti contemporanei.
Saranno discussi temi quali l’editing, la sequenza e il design, che saranno affrontati sia teoricamente sia praticamente.
ll workshop sarà un’occasione per scoprire e valutare le diverse modalità per la distribuzione e la commercializzazione dei fotolibri,
sfruttando sia la rete, sia i canali più tradizionali.
I partecipanti illustreranno i propri progetti e lavoreranno sul processo di realizzazione del proprio libro, utilizzando Adobe In-Design
o altri software.
Il workshop si concluderà con la presentazione dei libri fotografici prodotti.
In entrambe le giornate il workshop avrà inizio alle ore 10.00 e terminerà alle ore 17.00
Self Publish, Be Happy is a project dedicated to “do-it-yourself” photography. It originated in June 2010, based on a concept of Bruno
Ceschel. In the Dalston creative area of London, six years ago, Ceschel founded Self Publish, Be Happy as an online platform for
author-driven books, which became a club for refined photo-bibliophiles. If you appreciate independent photography books, then you
will love SPBH, one of the most important, captivating publishing houses on the market which photographers might encounter in
striving to create their own zine or photography book.
Saturday, 24 and Sunday, 25 July, Bruno Ceschel will be in Ragusa Ibla, at the videoteca set in the ancient convent. He will present a
two-day workshop dedicated to those who wish to form and quickly publish their own, personal photography book, transforming their
images into a real editorial project ready for distribution. The two days will focus on the necessary instruments and competencies,
highlighting the best opportunties for producing, distributing and marketing one’s own photobook.
On both days the workshop will begin at 10am and end at 5pm.
Participants will be able to explore various “models”, from zines to the traditional bound volume, while analyzing outstanding works
by contemporary photographers and artists. Such themes as editing, sequence and design will be approached, both theoretically and
on a practical level. The workshop will clarify different modalities of distribution and commercialization for photobooks, exploiting
both online and traditional resources. Participants will also be able to illustrate their own projects, or proceed toward creating their
own book by using Adobe In-Design or other software.
The workshop will conclude by presenting the photobooks thus created.

BIO
Bruno Ceschel è scrittore, editore e docente al Camberwell College of Arts-University of the Arts di Londra e all’École cantonale
d’art di Losanna. È il fondatore di Self Publish, Be Happy, organizzazione che raccoglie, studia e valorizza libri auto prodotti di fotografia attraverso un programma di workshop, eventi live, progetti off e online. Ad oggi Self Publish, Be Happy ha organizzato eventi
in numerose istituzioni di fama mondiale, tra queste la Tate Modern, The Photographer’s Gallery, la Serpentine Galleries, C/O Berlin,
l’Aperture Foundation e la Kunsthal Charlottenborg. In qualità di Direttore della casa editrice SPBH Editions, ha recentemente pubblicato libri di Adam Broomberg e Oliver Chanarin, Lucas Blalock, Mariah Robertson, Gareth McConnell e Lorenzo Vitturi. Ceschel
scrive regolarmente per riviste quali FOAM, The British Journal of Photography e Aperture Magazine e ha collaborato in qualità di
guest-editor con Photography and Culture e The PhotoBook Review. Il suo ultimo libro Self Publish, Be Happy: A DIY Photobook Manual and Manifesto è appena stato pubblicato per l’Aperture Foundation.
