General rules related to the final exam The Bachelor`s degree
General rules related to the final exam
The Bachelor’s degree course ends with a public graduation ceremony.
To attain the Master’s degree there is a final exam, which consists of a
public discussion of the students’ thesis, which is their original work
produced under the guidance of a supervisor.
For students enrolled in the old degree system, the final exam consists of a
public discussion of their final project or of a presentation of a synopsis,
which is their original work produced under the guidance of a supervisor.
The final evaluation consists of a total average of marks over their whole
university career and the assessment of the final project. The highest
possible mark is one hundred and ten.
Before starting to write the thesis we suggest that students read the “Saper
comunicare” guide
(https://didattica.polito.it/segreteria/esamefinale/it/libretto_saper_comunica
re.html);
it is also necessary to look at the guidelines “Regolamento del Politecnico
relativo alla Proprietà industriale e intellettuale” available at the following

Final project application form
The final project application form is not required for Bachelor Degree
courses.
For the Master of Science degree and the old degree system the final
project form can only be accepted for students who have no more than 40
examination credits (CFU) left to pass. Depending on which degree course
is being followed the requirements are: 300 credits minus final project
credits for the old degree system, 100 credits for Master of science degree
dm 509 90 credits for Master of science degree dm 270,;).
As soon as students decide on the subject in agreement with the supervisor,
they should fill in the Final project form online at the sid@home link on
their home page or by using the self service machine. The subject of the
final project and the name of the supervisor/s should be indicated.
The form should then be printed, signed by the student and the supervisor/s
and handed in to the Registrar’s Office (Segreteria Generale), on the
ground floor of the Cittadella Politecnica. The administrative staff will
then take note that the form has been handed in. After this date it is
possible to see the data on the portal but no further changes can be made.
The earliest graduation session available is established according to the
date on which the final project form is handed in. It is therefore very
important to check the deadlines in the summary tables.
How to register for the final exam session
Students can only sit the final exam and graduate after passing all their
degree course examinations.
Following that, they must fill in and print the final exam application form
which they can get at the sid@home link on their home page on the
Student Portal (portale della didattica) or from the self service machine.
The printed form, signed by the student and the supervisor/s, must be
handed in to the Registrar’s Office (Segreteria Generale) on the ground
floor of the Cittadella Politecnica, within the final exam session deadline
stated for each degree course in the academic calendar. Students should
contact the Registrar’s Office with any requests to add or remove
supervisors names.
Students must pay the graduation fees. Part-time students must also pay 16
euros for each final project credit. For Bachelor’s degree students who
have not put courses in advance into their Master’s degree Study plan and
who get their Bachelor degree within December, and for all those students
who graduate in March, it is necessary to pay the second instalment of fees,
along with any other debts.
Along with their final exam application form, students must include the
fees payment receipt and the receipt given for filling in the AlmaLaurea
questionnaire.
Further information about the AlmaLaurea graduate students’ data bank
can be found on the Student Portal, under “Banca dati laureati
AlmaLaurea" or directly at the “Stage&Job Placement Office” (Job &
Internship info sheet).
The dates for the final exam sessions, graduation ceremony and related
deadlines are in the summary tables.
All deadlines are mandatory.
