Swarms of visitors are preparing to descend on the V&A Museum for the exhibition
dedicated to the London-born designer
LONDON
The august halls of the Victoria & Albert Museum are girding themselves up to stage one
of the most eagerly awaited events of the year for followers of fashion: 14 March will see
the inauguration of the exhibition Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.
The London exhibition will be the only chance in Europe to visit this huge retrospective on
the late enfant terrible of fashion. The public are already showing an irresistible appetite
for an event conceived to portray the clothing creator’s career and creations – from his
debut in 1992 to his last unfinished collection – and threaten to arrive in biblical numbers:
one month before the opening, 30,000 tickets had been sold, and the closing dates of the
exhibition have now been extended before it has even opened.
The staging of the event will be based on a collaboration with Swarovski and will
emphasise the spectacle and drama always featured in McQueen’s fashion shows.

dell’anno dagli appassionati di moda: il 14 marzo inaugurerà infatti la mostra Alexander
McQueen: Savage Beauty, l’unica occasione europea per ammirare la ricca retrospettiva
dedicate al designer scomparso.
Il pubblico, irresistibilmente attratto da una narrazione che promette di ripercorrere l’intera
carriera dello stilista - dal suo esordio nel 1992 fino alla sua ultima collezione incompiuta
– si preannuncia numeroso ed impaziente: ad un mese dal vernissage erano già 30.000 le
prevendite rilasciate e il termine dell’esposizione è stato posticipato ancor prima della sua
apertura. L’allestimento, realizzato in collaborazione con Swarovski, riproporrà l’atmosfera
spettacolare e drammatica che è da sempre sinonimo dei fashion show firmati McQueen.
