Il corso - in lingua inglese - presuppone la conoscenza degli istituti fondamentali di diritto internazionale (i.e.
soggettività, fonti, immunità, sistema di risoluzione delle controversie, ecc.) e si propone di approfondire lo studio di
principi, organi, funzioni e atti delle principali organizzazioni internazionali e, tra esse, in particolare delle Nazioni
Unite. Per gli studenti frequentanti sono previste ulteriori attività, quali l’approfondimento di tematiche di attualità e la
simulazione dell’attività degli organi delle Nazioni Unite, in vista della possibile partecipazione al seminario
creditizzato “Genoa Model United Nations” (GEMUN) (v. indicazione a fondo pagina). Additionally, a seminar, also in
English, on international courts and trasnational justice will also be offered (see preliminary indications at the bottom
page).

Modalità di esame- Examination
Per gli studenti frequentanti (almeno il 75% delle lezioni) l’acquisizione delle conoscenze verrà verificata attraverso la
discussione a lezione sui temi proposti e tramite un test scritto con risposte chiuse e/o aperte. I risultati
dell’apprendimento potranno poi essere ulteriormente verificati in sede di esame orale. Students attending at least 75%
of the lectures will be given the possibility to present PPT Presentations on agreed topics, deepening issues tackled
during the course. Moreover, Students attending at least 75% of the lectures will also be given the possibility to take a
written exam at the end of the course (either open questions, or multi-option answer test). In any case, Students can
choos to take oral examination during exams sessions.
Per gli studenti non frequentanti l’esame è orale. La Commissione è designata dal Consiglio di Dipartimento e
presieduta dal docente titolare del corso. La durata è normalmente di 15 minuti circa, con verifica dell’apprendimento
attraverso la discussione di almeno tre tematiche tratte dai testi indicati. Students not attending lectures will only have to
possibility to take oral examination, during exams sessions. Oral examinations usually lasts 15 minutes and, usually,
three questions are asked to verify the preparation of the Student.
Orario di ricevimento - Office hours
Lunedì dalle ore 10.00 alle ore 13.00 presso il Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza, Via Balbi n. 22, quinto piano. Mondays
from 10 am to 1 pm at Department of Law, Via Balbi 22, (fifth floor).
International organizations - Summary
The course (in English) is addressed to students already familiar with International Law and is aimed at analyzing
principles, bodies, functions and acts of the most significant international organizations (among which UN in
particular). Specific activities (i.e. presentation and mock of the UN’s bodies activities) are envisaged for students
attending lectures. Students are encouraged to take part to the GeMun, and to attend the Seminar (for both on which, see
at the bottom of the page).
