A luxury collaboration to celebrate a myth
BEVERLY HILLS
One hundred years ago Beverly Hills was officially recognized as a city in its own right,
autonomous from nearby Los Angeles. This year, the local tourist board is promoting a
series of events to celebrate this glamorous centenary. One of these is tailor-made for
travellers with a taste for luxurious accommodation, namely the Suite 100 project, in which
the area’s five most luxurious hotels each redesign a special suite evoking different
epochs featured in the mythology of Beverly Hills over the last century.
And so, at the Montage Beverly Hills Nina Petronzio has designed the Film Noir suite,
inspired by crime film figures, while the Golden Age suite at the Beverly Hills Hotel –
projected by Thiany Design – pays homage to the hotel’s most famous guest: Marilyn
Monroe. The Beverly Hilton, meanwhile, offers an all-Sixties suite designed by David
Hicks, and L’Ermitage proposes Ken Fulk’s Studio 54 tribute to the Eighties.
The Peninsula Beverly Hills goes for a starry-eyed award ceremony celebration, offering
a red carpet showbiz hymn to the Golden Globes, Grammys, Oscars et al.
Cento anni fa Beverly Hills veniva riconosciuta come città autonoma dalla vicina Los
Angeles. Oggi, per festeggiare quel centenario l’Ente locale del turismo ha promosso una
lunga serie di celebrazioni che si svolgeranno lungo tutto l’arco del 2014. Una di queste,
in particolare, interesserà i viaggiatori alla ricerca di un alloggio di lusso. Si tratta della
campagna Suite 100, per la quale i cinque migliori hotel della città sono stati invitati a
progettare una suite che riflettesse un pezzo della storia che ha reso mitica Beverly Hills
in quest’ultimo secolo.
Così, al Montage Beverly Hills, la Film Noir progettata da Nina Petronzio trae ispirazione dai paladini del genere poliziesco, mentre al Beverly Hills Hotel la suite Golden Age,
progettata da Thiany Design, rende omaggio all’ospite più celebre dell’albergo: Marilyn
Monroe. Il pernottamento continua presso il Beverly Hilton dove è possibile tuffarsi nelle
atmosfere anni Sessanta ricreate dal designer David Hicks, o all’Ermitage, che grazie a
Ken Fulk dedica la sua suite allo Studio 54 (stessa epoca, costa opposta), per finire con
la più autocelebrativa delle stanze: la suite del Peninsula Beverly Hills, ispirata agli award
del cinema (Golden Globes , Grammy , Oscar e altri), per un’esperienza da red carpet!
