Vela e cantieri - Forlì - Si chiude con un bilancio
positivo la stagione di regate del Cantiere del Pardo.
Gli scafi Grand Soleil, infatti, hanno raggiunto performance importanti sui principali campi di
regata internazionali. A partire dal GP 42 El Desafio, che ha dominato per il secondo anno
consecutivo la Quebramar GP 42 Cup 2008, conclusasi a fine ottobre a Lanzarote (SPA). Grande
merito al timoniere Laureano Wizner e al suo team, in particolare il tattico Santi López-Vázquez,
preciso ed efficace nelle sue intuizioni: “Il circuito è stato particolarmente lungo ed intenso – dice
Laureano Wizner – ma proprio per questo il risultato la dice lunga su chi sia stato il più forte
della stagione 2008. Il livello della competizione quest’anno è stato molto più alto rispetto al
2007. Sapevamo che dovevamo essere aggressivi per restare sempre al top. Grazie al Cantiere
del Pardo per averci messo a disposizione uno scafo così forte”.
C’è ancora il sigillo di un Grand Soleil su una delle regate più prestigiose dello yachting
internazionale: Roark , GS 43 dell’armatore olandese Kees Kaan, è stata la barca con la migliore
performance individuale alla Rolex Commodores’ Cup, evento biennale organizzato dal Royal
Ocean Racing Club a Cowes (Isola di Wight/UK), disputatosi lo scorso luglio.
Il Grand Soleil 43 (progetto di Botin e Carkeek), si conferma uno dei migliori progetti usciti dal
Cantiere del Pardo. Best seller europeo tra le barche delle sue dimensioni, ha vinto su tutti i
campi di regata del mondo: Coppa del Re, La Giraglia, Spi Ouest France IRC, Fastnet e Cowes
Week. È stato Campione del mondo IMS, Campione d’Europa e d’Italia.
Nel mese di agosto è tornato a vincere prepotentemente un altro importante progetto: il Gran
Soleil 37 Sagola, che ha conquistato il Mondiale ORC ad Atene in Classe 2, campionato che si è
svolto dal 20 al
28 giugno. Questo dimostra che la barca, a tre anni dal lancio sul mercato non ha mai smentito
le sue caratteristiche vincenti regata dopo regata: nel suo palmares ci sono due Mondiali, due
Europei e diversi
titoli nazionali conquistati in appena quattro anni. Ad Atene erano iscritte 51 imbarcazioni in
rappresentanza di 9 paesi, per una competizione avvincente dalla prima all’ultima prova, su un
campo di regata difficile ed impegnativo. Il Grand Soleil 37 (progettato da Botin e Carkeek) è
stato portato alla vittoria dal timoniere e armatore Fausto Pierobon, che ha il merito, insieme al
suo team, - Branko Brcin alla tattica, Nevio Sabadin alla randa, Pino Pinelli e Davide Fuzzi tailer,
Matteo Bettoso alle drizze e Giulio Fonda a prua -, di aver lavorato intensamente per ottimizzare
la barca e le vele.
Per finire, un altro successo tutto Made in Italy: “Una barca mitica, progettata da Paperini; una
delle migliori mai realizzate dal Cantiere del Pardo”. Con queste parole l’armatore e timoniere
Italo Borrini ha commentato la sua vittoria del Trofeo Gavitello d’Argento messo in palio dallo
Yacht Club Punta Ala alla barra del suo Grand Soleil 40 Despeinada . Erano quasi 50 gli scafi
iscritti nella divisione ORC, per un totale di circa 100 partecipanti al prestigioso ed impegnativo
evento della Maremma. Anche in questo caso l’armatore al timone di un Grand Soleil è riuscito a
battere timonieri professionisti, a dimostrazione che la qualità del mezzo è superiore alla
concorrenza.
Il Cantiere del Pardo, fondato nel 1974 a Bologna, produce i Grand Soleil, barche a vela dai 37 ai
65 piedi, icone di stile Made in Italy. Il brand Grand Soleil incarna oggi un preciso lifestyle,

fase di sviluppo ci sono le barche Custom, che rappresentano per il CdP una nuova ed
emozionante frontiera.

[Cantiere del Pardo Press Release] It has been a positive season of races for Italian Cantiere del
Pardo.
Grand Soleil boats, in fact, have reached remarkable performances in all the most important
International regattas. Starting from the GP 42 El Desafio, which dominated for the second year
in a row the Quebramar GP 42 Cup 2008 (ended at the end of October in Lanzarote, ESP). The
helmsman Laureano Wizner and his team deserve praise, with a special mention going to the
tactician Santi López-Vázquez, for his accurate and effective intuition. “The circuit was
particularly long and intense – said Laureano Wizner – but precisely for this reason the result
speaks volumes about the winner of the 2008 season. The level of the competition was very high
this year compared to 2007. We knew we had to be aggressive to stay on top. And that’s exactly
what we did”.
A Grand Soleil made its mark at one of the most prestigious regattas in international yachting,
too: Roark , the GS 43, belonging to Dutch owner Kees Kaan was the boat with the best
individual performance at the Rolex Commodores’ Cup, a biennial event organised by the Royal
Ocean Racing Club at Cowes (Isle of Wight, UK), which took place last July. The Grand Soleil 43
(a Botin and Carkeek design) has established itself as one of the best designs from Cantiere del
Pardo. One of the best-selling boats of its size in Europe, it has won races in all the main
regattas in the world: Copa del Rey, La Giraglia, Spi Ouest France IRC, Fastnet Race and Cowes
Week. It was IMS World, European and Italian Champion.
Last August the Gran Soleil 37 Sagola stormed to victory in Class 2 of the ORC World
Championship in Athens, which took place from 20 to 28 June. This shows that the boat, three
years after its launch on the market, has never lost its winning characteristics, regatta after
regatta. Its prize record includes two World championships, two European championships and
various national titles, all obtained in just four
years. There were 51 boats, representing 9 countries, taking part in the competition in Athens,
which gripped the audience from the first to the last event, as the yachts raced in this difficult,
demanding
regatta. The Grand Soleil 37 (a Botin and Carkeek project) sailed to victory with owner Fausto
Pierobon at the helm. Pierobon, together with his crew – Branko Brcin as tactician, Nevio
Sabadin at
the mainsail, Pino Pinelli and Davide Fuzzi as tailers, Matteo Bettoso on the halyards and Giulio
Fonda at the bow – worked intensely to optimise the boat and the sails.
To come to the end, an all Made in Italy success: “A legendary boat, designed by Paperini, one
of the best ever created by Cantiere del Pardo: the Grand Soleil 40 Despeinada ”. With these
words the owner and helmsman Italo Borrini commented on his victory in the Gavitello d’Argento
Trophy, offered as a prize by the Punta Ala Yacht Club. Nearly 50 boats competed in the ORC
division, with a total of about 100 participants in the prestigious Maremma event. Once again, an
owner at the helm of a Grand Soleil succeeded in beating professional helmsmen, thereby
showing that the quality of the boat is superior to the competition.
Cantiere del Pardo, founded in 1974 in Bologna and today located in Forlì, produces the Grand
