State Song and Dance Ensemble of Tatarstan has
been distributing Tatar folk culture for almost 70
years.
The group was founded in 1937. Artistic life of the
ensemble is tied to folk traditions of Tatar people.
Artictic image of the group was being formed along
with the forming of Tatar professional culture in
1930-40, in contact with outstanding folklorists,
composers, ballet-masters, artists, writers.
Bright scenical pictures are created on the base of
folk songs and dances. The choir of the Ensemble is
a creative laboratory of Tatarstan’s composers,
contributes a lot into the development of the choir
culture of Tatarstan.
Tatar dances are bright scenical pictures showing
people’s everyday life, full of home-feltness and
humour, often rich in comedian episodes.
Songs and dances of the group are always
accompanied by the orchestra. The orchestra
consists of traditional tatar instruments, like kurbyz,
kuray, harmonicas.
The traditional costumes also contribute to the
spectacular sight of the concert. Wonderfully
decorated boots, miraculous ornaments of rainbow
colours, show an inimitable example of Tatar
handycraft.
For years of its existance, the Ensemble has
travelled hundreds of thousands kilometers. The
group has performed in China, Corea, Mongolia,
Tunice, Turkey, Italy, Malta, Czechia, Slovakia,
Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Yemen, Finland,
Yugoslavia, France, Senegal, Benin, Nigeria.
In 2001, the Ensemble participated in Pyrenean
festival in Fance and Spain, in 2004, it took part in
Nice festival, and in 2006, the Ensemble
participated in International Folk festival in France.
The chef of the group is Ayrat Khametov, a national
artist of Tatar Republic.
