As a renowned interpreter of Mozart and Rossini, Lorenzo Regazzo has been a regular guest at the Salzburg
Festival and at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. He collaborated with such important conductors as
Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Colin Davis, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Daniele Gatti,
Nikolaus Harnonkourt, Jesús López-Cobos and Marcello Viotti.
Acclaimed in the “bel canto” and “coloratura” repertoire, he is a world class Baroque singer noted for
expertise in Vivaldi and Handel, a repertoire he had performed and recorded with such Baroque music
specialists as René Jacobs, Emmanuelle Haïm, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Claudio
Scimone, and Andrea Marcon.
During the 2015/16 season he staged a new production of Don Giovanni at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza and
at Teatro Comunale di Ferrara.
Among his future plans are L’elisir d’amore, Così fan tutte and Il barbiere di Siviglia at Semperoper in
Dresden, Così fan tutte at Opera di Roma, La Cenerentola and Il barbiere di Siviglia at Bayerische
Staatsoper in Munich.
In the past seasons he performed L’Italiana in Algeri (Deutsche Oper Berlin, Münchner Rundfunkorchester,
Staatsoper Munich, Tokyo, Sao Carlos Lisboa, Comunale di Treviso, Fenice di Venezia and in concert with
the Berliner Philarmoniker), La Cenerentola (Covent Garden, Rossini Opera Festival, Teatro Bellini di
Catania, Festival de La Coruña, Bilbao, Opéra Garnier, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris), Le Nozze di
Figaro (Salzburg Festival, Opéra de Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Comunale di Bologna, Zurich
Opernhaus, Valencia and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris), Così fan tutte (Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra
National de Paris), Don Giovanni (Brussels, Paris, Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, Ravenna Festival,
London Barbican Center, Teatro Real de Madrid, Filarmonico di Verona) and L’elisir d’amore (Wiener
Staatsoper).
His discography includes, among others, Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso (with Jean-Christophe Spinosi); Le
Nozze di Figaro (with René Jacobs), which won the Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording; the solo
recitals Lorenzo Regazzo chante Venise and Vivaldi: Arie per Basso (Naïve; with Rinaldo Alessandrini) for
both of which he won the “Orphée d’or” as Best Male Singer. He can be heard on the new Don Giovanni
release for Harmonia Mundi (Leporello; conducted by René Jacobs) and in Rossini’s Mosè in Egitto and
L’Inganno Felice. A new solo album, an all-Händel recital, once again conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini,
has just been released by Naïve.
