“Le nostre città, le nostre case e la nostra alimentazione devono

sulle nostre tavole sono coltivate, trattate con pesticidi,imballate,

rimanga molto del loro reale sapore originario.
Desideriamo contribuire a questo sviluppo disegnando un
sistema adattabile per i nostri edifici e le nostre case che possa
aiutarci a rendere le nostre vite e le nostre città più verdi.
Negli ultimi due anni, durante tutto l’arco dell’anno, abbiamo
testato un sistema di coltivazione casalingo a finestra per verdure
ed erbe aromatiche.
Window Garden è un sistema flessibile che consente di scegliere
la taglia e la complessità del sistema di irrigazione. Il vaso di
Window Garden è disegnato come una nuova tipologia che ha
all’interno una riserva d’acqua eliminando così il bisogno del
sottovaso. Nei Window Garden verdure ed erbe aromatiche
passano direttamente dalla coltivazione alla pentola.
Il vaso può essere utilizzato con diverse disposizioni nelle
seguenti configurazioni:
_Window Garden singolo uno o più vasi possono essere
appoggiati su un piano o appesi a parete
_Window Garden da tavolo – tre vasi montati su un piccolo stelo
da utilizzare per le erbe aromatiche in cucina
_Window Garden sospeso – cinque vasi che possono essere
appesi a soffitto o alla finestra
_Window Garden self standing – sette vasi montati su una
struttura self standing che possono essere posizionati ovunque
_Wall Window Garden – centinaia di vasi su una rete di acciaio
da usare come tende o divisori di spazi”
“Our cities, houses and diets have to become greener.
Before vegetables and herbs in the supermarkets end up on our
dining table, they are farmed, sprayed for pesticides, harvested,
packed, transported to the shop, and finally consumed without
much real green taste left.
We wish to contribute to this movement by designing an
adaptable system for our buildings and homes, which can help
make our life in our cities greener. Let’s release the potential of
Window Gardening:
In the last couple of years we have been testing a home planting
system for growing vegetables and herbs in windows all year
around – The Window Garden.
The Window Garden is a flexible system which allows the user
to choose the size and complexity of the watering system. The
Window Garden pot has been designed as a new type of flower
pot which has an internal water reservoir that eliminates the need
for a saucer. In our Window Garden the vegetables and herbs go
straight from the farming pots to the cooking pots.
The pot can be used in a variation of setups in the following
configurations:
_Single Window Garden – One or more pots which can be placed
on a table or mounted on a wall.
_Table Window Garden – Three pots mounted on a small stand
used for herbs in the kitchen.
_Suspended Window Garden – Five pots which can be hung
from a ceiling or any window frame.
_Self standing Window Garden – Seven pots mounted on a stand
used freestanding and can be placed everywhere.
_Wall Window Garden – Hundreds of pots mounted on a steel net
used as shading in the windows or room dividers.”

Window Garden con pochi elementi essenziali definisce uno
strumento per prendersi cura di sé e della natura e creare una
diversa relazione con gli spazi.
Il vaso, in porcellana bianca stampato ad alta pressione, è
l’elemento principale con una sezione intelligente per consentire
coltura idroponica.
Si combina poi in diverse versioni grazie ad elementi strutturali
sempre elementari, self standing o sospesi.
Il vaso nasconde nella sua sezione un’intelligenza funzionale
legata alla coltura idroponica.
Questa consente anche in condizioni normalmente proibitive per
la coltivazione una produzione costante anche lungo tutto l’anno.
La pianta viene irrigata in modo controllato, l’acqua richiesta è
minima e non viene sprecata.
L’acqua viene filtrata dal poco terreno o dal substrato, il
rivestimento interno aiuta a trattenere quanto serve.
La sua geometria inclinata definisce un’area al suo interno sul
suo fondo in cui si crea una piccola riserva d’acqua, l’eccesso è
libero di fluire all’esterno del vaso da un foro presente sul fondo.
Questo fa sì che a caduta possa nutrire il vaso sottostante
collegato a questo da un piccolo tubo.
Il sistema di irrigazione funziona non solo con una pompa ma
anche spontaneamente, a caduta.
Il vaso ha un piccolo incavo che ne percorre la circonferenza
per fissare cavo un d’acciaio con una o due asole e fissarsi alle
strutture.
La versione self standing è un’asta che sorregge tre vasi
affiancati o sette uno sull’altro.
Le versioni a sospensione permettono di combinare più elementi
in cascate di vasi sostenuti da fili d’acciaio che dividono gli spazi
o si sviluppano lungo le vetrate.

With few essential elements Window Garden defines an
instrument to take care of ourselves and nature around us,
meanwhile creating a relation with spaces.
The vase, in white china printed at high pressure, it’s the principal
element with a smart section to allow hydroponic culture. Its
combined in different version thanks to ever elementary structural
element, self standing or in suspension. The vase hides in its
section a functional intelligence connected to the hydroponic
culture.
This type of culture allows even in usually prohibitive contexts a
year-while constant production. Plants are irrigate in a controlled
way, the necessary water is minimal and there aren’t wastes.
Water is filtered by the little soil or the substrate, the internal
coating helps to keep what is needed. Its inclined geometry
define an internal area on the base in which is stored a little water
reserve, the excess is free to flow out from the vase through a
little gap in the base. This allows the nutrition of the plants under
the first by water falling, as the vases are connected one to the
other whit a little tube. The irrigation system functions not only
with a pump but independently too, by falling.
The vase has a little notch that follows the circumference to fix a
steel cable with one or two slots and attach itself to the structure.
The self standing version is a rod that sustain three vase side by
side or even seven one on one.
The suspension version allows to match different elements in
vase waterfalls, sustained by steel cable that divide the spaces
or that develop along the windows.
