pazzi sublimando, in tal modo, la loro brama di esclusività. Oggetti unici, piccole opere d'arte per committenti dai nomi da copertina, ma anche persone normali che decidono di regalarsi una o più volte nella vita un pezzo unico, un oggetto fatto a posta per loro dalla Maison. Come nasce uno Special Order
Che si tratti di personaggi celebri o di semplici appassionati la procedura per far realizzare uno special order è sempre la stessa e per nulla complicata: il cliente si rivolge ad un qualsiasi negozio Louis Vuitton nel mondo esponendo il bisogno, più o meno bizzarro, che vuole soddisfare o la
particolare esigenza a livello di prodotto, di pellame, di dimensione. Sarà
poi un persona addetta agli special order all’interno di ogni store a mettersi in contatto direttamente con Asnières, dove un team di esperti vaglierà la richiesta, la fattibilità, le tempistiche, provvederà a sviluppare il
The special order items are truly unique pieces that are requested by clients the world over to satisfy their craziest whims, sating their craving for exclusivity. They are, as we said, truly unique pieces, small masterpieces for clients whose names frequently appear in the covers of the press, but also for quite
normal people who have decided to give themselves, for once in their lives, a truly special gift – a bag crafted especially for them by the world’s most famous Maison. The list of dreams and whims is long: from picnic sets to cases for a prized watch collection, from cigar boxes to trunks in which to smoke
a narghilè, from the stereo case ordered by Sofia Coppola to the vanity case Sharon Stone so desired – Asnières is where dreams become reality.
How does a Special Order come about?
Whether for celebrities or simply for passionate Vuitton fans, the procedure to order a special order item is the same, and it is not a complicated thing:
the client can go to any Louis Vuitton store, anywhere in the world, and explain the desire – bizarre or common – he or she feels the need to satisfy by designing a product made any way they have imagined it, of any type of leather or size. The person in charge of the special order department, and there is
one in every store, then contacts the Asnières workshop where a team of experts will evaluate the request, its feasibility, the amount of time it could take,
and then develop a design and estimate the cost. Once the report returns, the client is informed of the particulars and can then confirm the order.

I tempi necessari per la realizzazione di questi pezzi unici variano a seconda della complessità dell’articolo che si va a realizzare: alcuni sono più
semplici, altri molto complessi, ma, in entrambi i casi, l’attenzione, la cura
e la dedizione richieste sono le medesime. Devono infatti gradualmente
prendere forma attraverso diversi disegni e prototipi elaborati; ogni progetto viene seguito dall’inizio alla fine da un team di artigiani, ognuno esperto nella realizzazione di una fase/componente specifico, la cui durata può
arrivare fino ai 6-8 mesi.
Ogni richiesta viene sempre presa in considerazione, per quanto bizzarra e stravagante possa essere, l’unica cosa che nei laboratori di Asnières si rifiutano di realizzare sono i mobili. Perché Louis Vuitton è e resterà sempre legato al business del movimento. Niente viene prodotto dai maestri artigiani di Asnières che non possa essere facilmente trasportato.
La condizione più importante per qualsiasi special order è che deve rispettare lo “spirito del viaggio” e rispondere a due criteri: poter essere imballato e poter viaggiare.
Per rimanere fedeli alla tradizione di Louis Vuitton che riuscì a farsi conoscere divenendo layetier-emballeur personale di sua Maesta l’Imperatrice
Eugenia, moglie di Napoleone III. Nel caso in cui uno special order non possa essere realizzato è Patrick-Louis Vuitton in persona ad assumersi la
responsabilità di comunicare al cliente l’impossibilità di rispondere alla sua richiesta e ad indirizzarlo verso scelte alternative che siano in linea con
la tradizione.
The time needed to craft these very special pieces varies from item to item, according to its complexity. Some are relatively easy to make, others much more
difficult but, in either case, the dedication and meticulous care reserved for their crafting is the same. Special order items take shape gradually, first there
are the various designs to be drawn and prototypes to be developed. Each project is followed from beginning to end by a team of craftsmen, each expert
curing his or her part of the job, and it can sometimes take up to 6 or 8 months to complete a project.
Each and every request will be taken into consideration, no matter how bizarre or extravagant it may be. There is only one thing the workshop in Asnières
will not make: furniture. There reason is clear: Louis Vuitton has always been, and intends to remain, in the business of luggage and travel items. The master craftsmen at Asnières will not create anything that cannot be easily transported.
One of the main requirements for any special order is that it must respect the “spirit of travel”, and it must meet two criteria: it must be able to packed
and able to travel.
An item made by special order must remain faithful to the tradition of Louis Vuitton, who managed to attract attention by becoming Napoleon III’s wife,
Empress Eugenie’s, personal layetier-emballeur. If a special order simply cannot be fulfilled, Patrick-Louis Vuitton in person assumes the responsibility
of communicating this fact to the client and guiding him or her towards an alternative choice more in keeping with Vuitton’s time-honoured tradition.

Tambour Mystérieuse è il primo orologio maschile con movimento LV nella storia della Maison: un orologio interamente progettato, sviluppato e assemblato nel workshop Louis Vuitton di La Chaux-de-Fonds in Svizzera.
Ispirato alle geniali invenzioni di Jean-Eugene Robert-Houdin nel XIX secolo, il Tambour Mystérieuse incarna il genio dell’impareggiabile arte orologiera. Con la maestria di
un prestigiatore, questo montre à complication di Louis Vuitton cela completamente il proprio meccanismo. Le lancette si muovono su di uno sbalorditivo sistema di dischi di
zaffiro trasparenti, nessuna traccia del meccanismo è rintracciabile a occhio nudo.
Perpetuando la prestigiosa tradizione artigianale, ogni elemento del calibro “LV115” è rigorosamente realizzato a mano, un capolavoro tecnico che conta più di 115 componenti. La riserva di carica, senza precedenti, testimonia il puro virtuosismo dell’orologeria: 8 giorni – 8 ore.

Tambour Mystérieuse is the first men’s watch to have LV movement in the history of the Maison: a watch entirely
designed, developed and assembled at the La Chaux-de-Fonds Louis Vuitton workshop in Switzerland.
Inspired by Jean-Eugene Robert Houdin’s genial 19th century invention, Tambour Mystérieuse incorporates the
true genius of incomparable horological art. With all the mastery of a conjurer, this Louis Vuitton montre à
complication manages to hide its mechanism. The hands move around on an astonishing system of transparent
mobile sapphire discs, leaving no hint of the driving force to the naked eye.
True to its prestigious tradition of craftsmanship, every element of the new calibre LV115 is made entirely by
hand, a technical masterpiece that includes some 115 component parts. The unprecedented power reserve also
speaks of pure virtuosity: 8 days – 8 hours.
Tambour Mystérieuse is streamlined, it is minimalist, classic and sophisticated. It is grey.
Available in an infinite variety in which every personality will see his own reflection: yellow gold, or white or
red, even platinum… the owner of a Tambour Mystérieuse can weave together a myriad of elements to create a
unique composition, where monotony, uniformity and conformity have no place. For the very height of elegance,
the oscillating rotor of the watch can display the initials of the owner – carved in gold onto a sapphire heart.
To top it off, as an homage to this extraordinary mastery, Louis Vuitton has also created a special case, the
highest expression of originality from the Maison: a proper miniature trunk especially designed at the Asnières
workshop for the Tambour Mystérieuse. Even this little treasure chest can be personalised, from the choice of
leather to the colour of the inner lining.
