Art has always been a big
hobby in the UK but it is currently enjoying something of a
renaissance!
Teaching Art — a Lincolnshirebased producer of art instructional videos — have always
sub-contracted filming work
but now feel the time is right to
bring it in house. They have
commissioned the production
of more than 120 instructional
videos concerned with drawing, painting, pastels, water
colours and other mediums
using top name artists from the
UK and around the world.
“We feel that, economically,
the time is now right for us to
invest in our own production
equipment. In addition, we are
taking on new people with the
necessary skills and experience to head up our production
department,” said Teaching
Art producer Richard HopeHawkins.
They have bought a pair of
D-9 DIGITAL S DY-700 camcorders along with a BR-D750
editing recorder from JVC
Professional after seeing a
head-to-head demonstration
of the kit in Cardiff.
“We operate on a relatively
tight budget so, while the price
was important so also was the
quality, as we intend to produce more programmes for
broadcast in the future,” said
Mr. Hope-Hawkins. As an
indication of the hobby’s current popularity, Teaching Art
have more than 15,000 members of the Society of Amateur
Artists. This is a club which
they run to help encourage
and inspire artists of all abilities from complete beginners
right up to professional standard.
“Anyone can learn to paint
the same way that anyone
can learn to drive, although
not everyone is going to end
up like Michael Schumacher!
We like to think that our
programmes and videos
will encourage and generate
interest in art in all forms,”
said Mr. Hope-Hawkins.
The coming of new digital
channels and the need for readily available, and relatively
inexpensive, programming
means that Teaching Art’s output is likely to gain even more
exposure in coming months.
They have already had
Channel Four screenings of six
series of art instructional programmes showcasting the
talents of artists like Alwyn
Crawshaw. They are poised to
branch out into other areas of
“How To...” type programmes
which will include glass painting techniques, silk painting,
fabric painting and many
other crafts, Teaching Art’s
choice of using JVC’s D-9
DIGITAL S ensures that they
will succeed.
“We will be fairly selective, but
now we are ready to make
our videos in-house, as producer I will be able to pick and
choose subjects which will give
us programmes with wide
appeal — not just to those
people with a brush or a pencil at the ready,” he added.

Unternehmen Teaching Art aus dem
englischen Lincolnshire hat die
Produktion von Sachfilmen stets nach

ein," erläutert Richard Hope-Hawkins,
bei Teaching Art für die Produktion
verantwortlich.
Nach einer Vorführung verschiedener
Systeme entschied man sich für zwei
D-9 DIGITAL S DY-700 Camcorder
und einen BR-D750 Schnittrekorder
von JVC Professional.
"Wir arbeiten innerhalb enger
Budgetgrenzen. Daher waren Preis
und Qualität entscheidend, denn wir
wollen in Zukunft mehr Beiträge für
die Fernsehprogramme produzieren,"
betont Hope-Hawkins. Ein
Gradmesser für die Beliebtheit des
künstlerischen Hobbys ist die Zahl von
15.000 Mitgliedern in der Society of
Amateur Artists. Dieser Club wurde
ins Leben gerufen, um Künstler jeder
Couleur zu motivieren und zu inspirieren. "Jeder kann das Malen ebenso erlernen wie das Autofahren,
obwohl nicht aus jedem ein Michael
Schumacher wird. Wir möchten mit
unseren Videos das Interesse an Kunst
in jeder Form wecken und zum
Mitmachen ermuntern," erläutert
Richard Hope-Hawkins.
Das Aufkommen neuer digitaler
Fernsehprogramme und der Bedarf
nach schnellen und preiswerten
Beiträgen wird sicherlich dafür sorgen, daß die Produktionen von
Teaching Art in den kommenden
Monaten noch mehr Aufmerksamkeit
gewinnen werden. Bislang wurden
bereits im Channel Four sechs Folgen
von Lernprogrammen ausgestrahlt.
Man will das Angebot auf weitere
Techniken und Zielgruppen ausdehnen. Die Entscheidung von Teaching
Art für D-9 DIGITAL S von JVC spielt
dabei eine wichtige Rolle.
"Wir werden ab sofort in der Lage
sein, unsere Videos im eigenen Hause
zu produzieren. Als Produzent kann

Teaching Art – une maison de production établie dans le Lincolnshire et spécialisée dans les vidéo d'enseignement artistique – confiait

La maison s'est ainsi doté de deux caméscopes DY-700 D-9 DIGITAL S avec un magnétoscope de montage BR-D750 distribués par JVC
Professional, après avoir assisté à une démonstration en petit comité à Cardiff.
"Nous travaillons avec des budgets relativement serrés. Et si le prix est un facteur important, la qualité est, elle, décisive. Parce que nous

L'arrivée des chaînes numériques et la demande en programmes immédiatement disponibles à un prix abordable signifient que Teaching Art
a un bel avenir. Channel Four a déjà examiné six séries de programmes éducatifs animés par des artistes au talent reconnu comme Alwyn

L’azienda ha acquistato da JVC Professional una coppia di telecamere DY-700 Digital-S D-9 e un registratore per montaggi BR-D750 dopo aver
assistito a Cardiff a una dimostrazione comparativa tra due diversi kit.
"Il nostro budget è piuttosto limitato, quindi il prezzo è importante come d’altro canto lo è la qualità dal momento che siamo intenzionati a produrre
in futuro un maggior numero di programmi per la televisione", ha proseguito Il Sig. Hope-Hawkins. Per dare un’idea dell’attuale popolarità di questo
hobby, basta dire che Teaching Art conta più di 15.000 membri nella Society of Amateur Artists. Si tratta di un club il cui scopo è quello di stimolare
e ispirare gli artisti, quali che siano le loro capacità, portandoli dal livello di principianti a quello di professionisti. "Chiunque può imparare a dipingere, esattamente come si può imparare a guidare l’automobile, sebbene non tutti siano in grado di diventare come Michael Schumacher. Ci piace pensare che i nostri programmi e i nostri video possano stimolare e suscitare interesse per l’arte in tutte le sue forme", ha affermato Il Sig. Hope-Hawkins.
