Figura 1 – Tubo estruso DE 2000 mm SDR 17 in PE 100 Figure 1 –inExtruded 2000 mm 17 out of PE il100 si forava media 6 pipe volte OD di meno dell' SDR acciaio. This document deals with polyethylene (PE): polyolefin thermoplastic material is mostly used in the construction of pipelines for civil works and, to a lesser degree, in industrial applications such as process piping, see fig. 9, or for concrete protective liners. This material is now sold on the market as PE 100 bimodal, replacing the previous PE 80 monomodal and subsequent PE bimodal. New PE 100 production technology has enabled PE 100 RC to be created, which has improved specifications that we will describe below. PE 80 is still in limited production for pipes, whereas injection moulded fittings, see fig.3, are now only made from PE 100, as these can be welded to both materials. One exception is the PE EL line, made entirely from PE 80. To ensure the materials are used in the best possible manner, here are some instructions on how to use them. Caratteristiche generali del Polietilene modificato General characteristics of PE (polyethylene) Polietilene antistatico (PE EL) PE produced by HÜRNER ITALIA SRL is a thermoplastic material that, thanks to its high resistance to the diffusion of natural gas, is used widely today for transport and gas distribution pipelines replacing conventional metals. PE 100 offers the best stiffness, strength and hardness and so is also widely used for applications of up to OD 2500 mm diameter for pipelines under pressure, see fig.1. In addition to being used for gas distribution, this material is also popular for use in aqueducts for the transportation of Per specifiche applicazioni come nel trasporto di liquidi o gas infiammabili, oppure per installazione di condotte in zone antideflagranti, è stato creato il Polietilene antistatico in PE 80 il quale, essendo un ottimo conducente elettrico, può essere collegato alle reti di terra per lo scarico delle cariche elettrostatiche che si 9 • • • • • • used thermoplastic polyolefin material for civil pipes. This line consists of an inner pipe that transports the product and an outer pipe which collects any leaks should the inner pipe be ruptured. The gap between the pipes is the area of temporary storage of the leaked liquid until the defect is remedied, see fig.5. The available dimensions of the inner pipe in this line range from OD 32 mm NP 16 to OD 250 mm NP 5. With pipes and fittings of the same material, the joints are made with simultaneous butt welding and/or electric coupler welding, if the SDR of the pipe allows it, see fig.11. For the first valuation of the application of PE consult the tables 1 and 2 for Permissible operating pressure to suit temperature / time and SDR and tables 3 and 4 – Permissible buckling pressure under the aforementioned conditions. The reference strength for this calculation of vacuum value is 3 N/mm2. The values in tables 1 and 2 are for liquid water and must be updated if chemical products are to be carried, using reduction factors, available on request. We also recommend applying a general reduction factor of 0.8 to take into account any imperfections in a laid pipe. 11 10 1 10 5 10 10 10 25 20 1 20 5 20 20 10 25 30 1 30 5 30 30 10 25 40 1 40 5 40 10 40 25 50 1 50 5 50 10 50 25 60 60 60 1 5 10 60 25 70 1 80 1 T = Temp Tabella Table 4 LA BARRIERA CONTRO INQUINAMENTO E CORROSIONE THE PROTECTION SHIELD AGAINST POLLUTION AND CORROSION Figura 11– Raccordo a T 90° della linea tubi intubati in PE/PE Figure 11 – 90° equal tee of double piping PE/PE Figura 12 –Scatolari in calcestruzzo con liner ANTICOR in PE giallo Figure 12 –Concrete culvert box with yellow ANTICOR lining out of PE The laying technique is very challenging since the differing behaviours of the inner pipe with fluid and the outer pipe without fluid must be considered, the latter also being subject to variations in the external temperature. The pipes are separated in such a way as to avoid uncontrolled bending and joints are available in the same layout with inner and outer joints. This line can be laid both buried and above-ground. The engineering department office of HÜRNER ITALIA SRL will assist in the choice of the most appropriate material and joining technique, presenting the most detailed operating conditions possible and the layout of the pipeline to be constructed. for us. Protection on non-tubular artefacts like stripping columns or washing towers in reinforced concrete are also frequent applications. Repairs with ANTICOR liners of basins or tanks with leakages, cooling towers etc. have also helped cut down environmental pollution. ANTICOR LIGHT, a slightly different technique, yet practical and fast in the creation of protection for concrete artefacts, is recommended for the storage of drinking water. ANTICOR PE material , see fig.13 , is approved for contact with drinking water. Compressed air piping For the compressed air in this document is an specific line in PE 100 blu coloured introduce, joined by means of heating element socket welding because al fittings are in socket execution. The range of diameter included al sizes between OD 20 and OD 110 mm for NP 16 bar at 20°C. This material can be welded with all types of PE 100. ANTICOR protection liners For the chemical protection of circular, egg shaped and box culvert precast concrete pipes, the ANTICOR thermoplastic liner in PE from HÜRNER ITALIA SRL has been demonstrated to be an effective technology that is easy to apply. It stands out from other protection systems due to its advantages of long life term and low costs. In addition to protect new products, existing structures can also be clad with HÜRNER ITALIA SRL’s PE liners, such as basins, open channels, tanks etc., both during construction and for later repairs to cure leaks. The liner’s property of adherence to concrete is not based on attachment with screws or bonding but on the mechanical locking of the integrated anchor V-shaped studs. These are positioned biaxial and extrude simultaneously on the liner, ensuring adherence to the concrete base at more than 480 MPa , see fig.6. This value can even be doubled when larger-sized V-shaped studs are used. The advantage of this technology is based on the combination of the high mechanical resistance of concrete and the protection furnished by the ANTICOR PE liners against the corrosive action of channelled or stored liquids. Figura 13 –Liner ANTICOR e ANTICOR LIGHT in PE azzuro Figure 13 – Blue coloured ANTICOR and ANTICOR LIGHT lining of PE HÜRNER ITALIA SRL’s engineering department is on hand to advise on the choice of ANTICOR protection technology and, based many years’ experience, it will find the most appropriate solution for every contingency. Certification and approvals Italian Compliance Marking - IIP The fittings out of PE for the supply of gaseous fuel and drinking water under pressure are approved by the Istituto Italiano dei Plastici with the compliance marking n° 216 with reference to the Italian Standards UNI EN 12 201 , UNI EN 15494 and UNI EN 1555. In a separate section of this document, all the components are indicated concerning the applications referred to above, which are the result of more than 30 years of using this technology around the world for numerous and varied constructions. The construction in the field of pipelines of a diameter of ND 6,000 mm for many, many kilometres, production in the factory of concrete lining protected pressure pipes or pipe jacking up to ND 3,000 mm, precast box culverts lining protected pipes , see fig.12 , up to 4,500/2,500 mm etc., these are all in a day’s work Pressure Equipment Directive - PED HÜRNER ITALIA SRL products shown in this document for pipes and fittings in PE 80 and PE 100 fully comply with the European 12 LA BARRIERA CONTRO INQUINAMENTO E CORROSIONE Regulation given in the directive 97/23/EC. This compliance is confirmed by the certificate No. 0206966701 issued by TÜV Süd Industrieservice GmbH. proved to offer excellent mechanical strength and chemical reTHE PROTECTION SHIELD AGAINST POLLUTION AND sistance. CORROSION ATEX – Directive 94/9 EC Publicly Available Specification - PAS 1075 PE EL is suitable for installation in areas with the ATEX classification since the material is certified as possessing “no potential source of ignition” and can be used to transport powders, liquids, solvent vapours and inflammable gasses as has already been demonstrated in many installed plants. Therefore PE EL does not come under the materials in the directive 94/9 EC – ATEX since the presence of effective earthing is guaranteed for the entire PE EL pipeline. The addition of additives partially alters the chemical and mechanical specifications of the base material. Therefore, in the presence of fluids at high temperature and pressures, it is advisable to consult our engineering department. The new, non-conventional technologies of pipe laying in PE have created a market for a new material, PE 100 RC (Resistance to Cracks), which complies with current regulations and guidelines and must, in accordance with the definition of PAS 1075 possess improved and greater resistance against Slow Crack Growth (SCG) and ensure that each component lasts at least 100 years, compared to the 50 years currently required by the regulations. HÜRNER ITALIA SRL has qualified this piping in its own programmes in accordance with PAS 1075 in all three variants: Type 1 - Extruded pipe with single wall in PE 100 RC with stripes in three different colours. Range of sizes available: OD 25 – OD 710 mm SDR 17/11. PAS certification 1075: N°12 06 90275 001 issued by TÜV-SÜD Industrie Service GmbH in favour of AGRU-FRANK GmbH., and full compliance with the other quality criteria under MUC-KSP-A 3006. Type 2 - Coextruded, single wall pipe in PE 100 RC with integrated external layer in three different colours, see fig.10. Range of sizes available: OD 75 – OD 400 mm SDR 17/11. Certification PAS 1075: N°12 06 90275 002 issued by TÜV-SÜD Industrie Service GmbH in favour of AGRU-FRANK GmbH, certifying full compliance with the other quality criteria under MUC-KSP-A 3006. Type 3 - Coextruded, single wall pipe in PE 100 RC with non-integrated external layer in PP in three different colours. Range of sizes available: OD 90 – OD 630 mm SDR 17/11. Certification PAS 1075: N°13 07 9667 003 issued by TÜV-SÜD Industrie Service GmbH in favour of AGRU GmbH, and full compliance with the other quality criteria under MUC-KSP-A 3013. Fittings in PE 100 RC are currently available for the electrofusion sockets/couplers and spigot saddles. PE 100 can be welded to PE 100 RC without any limitations. See table 5 for details of the various types of PE. Factory Mutual – FM The PE 100 line from HÜRNER ITALIA SRL has received type approval for use in fire-fighting loops by Factory Mutual of America. This approval includes the pipes belonging to the SDR 11 series, electrofusion and butt welded fittings. The production of pipes and fittings is an automatic process, see fig.2, under continual quality process control. The successive stock in a special, marked storage area, see fig.7, for FM fittings and pipes guarantee a quickly shipment of this components. In this catalogue, all the components certified FM are identified with the FM logo shown at the heading of the specifications table of each form. General characteristics of modified polyethylene Antistatic polyethylene (PE EL) Antistatic PE 80 polyethylene has been developed for specific applications, such as the transportation of inflammable liquids and gas or installation of pipes in explosive areas. This has excellent electrical conductivity and so can be connected to the earth networks to discharge any electrostatic charge generated inside or outside the pipe. It is mostly used to collect and carry drainage in monitored fill-in sites and for solvent vapour extraction systems in the chemicals industry. These are, however, just two of the many applications for antistatic PE, where this material has 13 Proprietà fisiche Physical properties Proprietà meccaniche Mechanical properties Proprietà termiche Thermal properties Proprietà elettriche Electrical properties 11 14 Proprietà specifiche Specific properties Tabella 5 Table 5 ISO 178 ISO 178 ISO 527 Allungamento alla rottura / Elongation at break Limite di flessione con 3,5% / Flexural stress at 3,5% strain Modulo di elasticità a trazione / Module of elasticity (tensile test) Modulo di taglio / Module in shear ISO 179 ISO 179 ISO 179 Resistenza all'urto a 30°C senza intaglio / Impact strength unnotched at 30°C Resistenza all'urto a 23°C con intaglio / Impact strength notched at 23°C Resistenza all'urto a 0°C con intaglio / Impact strength notched at 0°C Resistenza all'urto a 30°C con intaglio / Impact strength notched at 30°C DIN 4102 Comportamento al fuoco / Flammability Resistività superficiale / Specific surface resistance 24 900-1100 600 46 19 950 500 37 19 1150 500 40 >350 21 900-1100 600 46 0,4 1,8*10-4 20 >1016 128 77 41 75 0,4 1,8*10-4 B2 94-HB 20 >1016 123 67 38-42 60-70 0,42 1,8*10 -4 B2 94-HB 20 >1016 SI / YES SI / YES NO - Omologazione FM / FM approval SI / YES SI / YES SI / YES SI / YES SI / YES - RAL 9005 RAL 9005 - >1013 >1013 >10 13 SI / YES SI / YES SI / YES SI / YES RAL 9005 70 2,3 70 2,3 70 2,3 94-HB B2 75 41 77 128 128-135 128-135 >8760 10 123-135 6 4,5 1500 - - 20 - 16 12 NO NO SI / YES SI / YES RAL 9005 <106 - - <106 20 - B2 1,8*10-4 0,43 - - 83 - - - - - - - >350 >600 7 30 37 - 37 30 21 9 25 No rottura / No break No rottura / No break No rottura / No break 9 T001 T003 - - 0,5 <0,1 0,990 PE EL 0,2-0,45 0,960 PE 100 RC No rottura / No break No rottura / No break No rottura / No break 25 10 T003 T006-012 21 - <0,1 - 0,2-0,45 0,960 PE 100 0,5-0,9 0,950 PE 80 Polietilene Polyethylene EEC 90/128 Applicazione fisiologico / Physiologically non-toxic MPa % MPa % MPa MPa MPa MPa 2 kJ/m 2 kJ/m 2 kJ/m 2 kJ/m 2 kJ/m h °C °C °C °C °C W/m°K 1/°K % Ohm cm kV/mm Ohm - 3 g/cm g/10 min g/10 min g/10 min Unità Units Omologazione FDA / FDA approval - - VDE 0303 Relativa costante dielettrica a 1 MHz / Relative dielectric constant at 1 MHz Colore standard / Colour Protezione contro raggi UV / UV stabilized VDE 0303 Specifica resistenza traversale / Specific volume resistance DIN 53483 VDE 0303 Indice di ossigeno / Oxygen index Rigidità dielettrica / Dielectric strength ISO 4589-1 UL 94 DIN 53 752 ISO 75 HDT/B Coeff. di dilatazione lineare / Linear coefficient of thermal expansion ISO 75 HDT/A DIN 52 612 ISO 306 VST B/50 Conducibilità termica a 20°C / Thermal conductivity at 20°C Resistenza a calore / Heat deflection temperature ISO 306 VST A/50 DIN 53 736 Punto di fusione cristalli / Cristallity melting temperature Temperatura di rammollimento / Vicat-Softening point ISO 16770 Test FNCT (MPa a 80°C in liquido di 2% Arkopal N 100) / Full Notch Creep Test 4 Mpa 2% Arkopal N100,80°C ISO 179 ISO 179 Resistenza all'urto a 23°C senza intaglio / Impact strength unnotched at 23°C ISO 2039-1 ISO 527 Resistenza alla rottura / Tensile stress at break Durezza sfera / Ball indentation hardness ISO 527 ISO 1872/73 MFI gruppo / range Allungamento a snervamento / Elongation at yield ISO 1133 MFI 230/5 ISO 527 ISO 1133 MFI 190/2,16 ISO 527 ISO 1183 ISO 1133 MFI 190/5 Tensione di snervamento / Tensile stress at yield Indice di fluidità (MFI) / Melt flow index Peso specifico a 23 °C / Specific density at 23°C Caratteristiche Specific properties Norme Standard
