BEPPE CANTARELLI è nativo di Busseto, in provincia di Parma. Città natale di GIUSEPPE VERDI,
questa regione è rinomata per il suo ricco retaggio musicale. Ha dato al mondo intero alcune delle più
belle ed emozionanti melodie che hanno senz'altro costituito una fonte di ispirazione e di motivazione
artistica per il giovane CANTARELLI, che ora vive da oltre vent'anni a Los Angeles, in California.
BEPPE si è trasferito in America nel 1982 quando QUINCY JONES gli chiese di partecipare al suo Tour
negli Stati Uniti in veste di chitarrista solista. Dopodichè ha realizzato una carriera di altissimo
successo come compositore contemporaneo, arrangiatore e produttore discografico di diverse canzoni
"secolari" nonchè di colonne sonore per films, raggiungendo una vendita di oltre 50 milioni di dischi
nel mondo. Ha lavorato con alcuni fra i mostri sacri della musica leggera internazionale fra cui
ARETHA FRANKLIN, per la quale ha composto un brano che è arrivato al numero uno nelle
classifiche americane e mondiali, "Another Night", MARIAH CAREY, per cui ha composto una canzone
che ha raggiunto le prime posizioni nelle classifiche mondiali, "I Still Believe", BONNIE TYLER ("Before
This Night Is Through"), JOE COCKER ("Tell Me There's A Way"), LEATA GALLOWAY ("With Every Beat
Of My Heart"), LAURA BRANIGAN ("Lonely Nights"), tanto per citare alcuni nomi. Ha composto,
arrangiato e prodotto 4 albums/LPs per MINA, 4 albums/LPs per uno dei gruppi rock storici Italiani,
il BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO, e singoli 45 giri e/o albums per alcuni degli artisti Europei e
Italiani più salienti degli anni settanta e ottanta fra cui AMII STEWART, MINA, ANNA OXA,
FIORELLA MANNOIA, LOREDANA BERTE', ORNELLA VANONI, MARCELLA, FRANCO
SIMONE, CATERINA VALENTE, TOTO CUTUGNO, RENATO ZERO, ORIETTA BERTI, MARIO
LAVEZZI, ed altri.
Nel gennaio del 1997 Madre Luigia Aguzzi, la Direttrice delle suore del “Santuario della Madonna Del
Divino Amore”, chiese a Beppe di comporre un “Magnificat” per l’inaugurazione del nuovo Santuario,
Voto dei Romani e di Papa Pio XII alla Madonna per aver salvato Roma dalla distruzione della
Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Dopo un anno di tentativi, ovviamente intimidito dal fatto che tutti i
maggiori compositori del passato da Bach a Mozart, Vivaldi, Strauss e Beethoven avevano scritto della
musica indimenticabile su quelle famose parole latine del vangelo di San Luca, ed “ancor più
ovviamente” dovuto alle preghiere ed alle continue insistenze di Madre Luigia, riuscì finalmente a
terminare e presentare il nuovo “Magnificat” la cui prima venne eseguita dal MILLENNIUM CHOIR in
Vaticano il giorno di Natale del 1999. Questa memorabile esecuzione venne teletrasmessa in
mondovisione come parte integrante e conclusiva della trasmissione APRITE LE PORTE A CRISTO, in
diretta dal Vaticano mentre Giovanni Paolo II apriva le Porte Sante per il Grande Giubileo del Terzo
Millennio.
Il particolare recital di oggi presenta una esecuzione completamente "unplugged" (acustica e non
elettrificata) di BEPPE CANTARELLI che canta, accompagnandosi semplicemente con la chitarra
acustica, la composizione che ha dato inizio a tutto questo, e cioè proprio quel "Magnificat" che è stato
l'ispirazione di tutte le altre composizioni di questa serata di “preghiera con la musica”. Anche il
MILLENNIUM CHOIR esegue lo stesso "Magnificat", originariamente composto ed orchestrato per
coro, pianoforte ed orchestra, questa volta accompagnato invece dalla sola chitarra acustica di BEPPE,
insieme ad altre selezioni, mentre il soprano e jazzista GIOVANNA GATTUSO interpreta altre
composizioni del recital in duetto con BEPPE.
GIOVANNA GATTUSO (soprano, cantante jazz e seconda direttrice) musicista e vocalist dal gusto
particolare affinato negli Stati Uniti, capace di spaziare con estrema naturalezza dalla musica lirica alle
pagine più impegnative della tradizione jazzistica. Ha appena terminato negli Stati Uniti la tournée
promozionale del suo nuovo CD "Jungle e Maree", (uscito il 3 aprile 2004), di cui è autrice di musiche e
testi. Pubblicato per l'etichetta di Los Angeles VELVET BEE RECORDS, il CD ha riscontrato un ottimo
successo di vendite e pubblico, tanto che è stata invitata dal Console Italiano a partecipare a luglio 2004
alla "Settimana Italiana" di Los Angeles, tour di musica, cinema e letteratura, itinerante nella città
Californiana. Perfezionatasi alla U.C.S.D di San Diego in gospel e jazz, e in tecnica vocale con il maestro
SETH RIGGS, collabora con alcuni tra i migliori musicisti jazz italiani e americani. Il suo eclettismo e la

sua duttilità vocale l’hanno portata a collaborare con musicisti e progetti di natura classica e jazz. Ha
partecipato all'opera lirica contemporanea del compositore argentino JORGE ANDRÈS BOSSO "Songs
for Psyche" che vede tra i protagonisti la prima arpa della Scala LUISA PRANDINA e l’attrice MILENA
VUKOTIC. Apprezzata docente di tecnica vocale, rappresenta in Italia il maestro SETH RIGGS
(insegnante tra gli altri di MICHAEL JACKSON, NATALIE COLE, QUINCY JONES, RAY CHARLES,
BARBRA STREISAND, CELINE DION, LISA MINELLI, MICHAEL BOLTON). Collabora con BEPPE
CANTARELLI da diversi anni ed è la seconda direttrice del MILLENNIUM CHOIR.
IL MILLENNIUM CHOIR simboleggia la pace nel mondo e la determinazione di entrare nel Nuovo
Millennio con la rinnovata speranza per un mondo migliore e con la preghiera al Supremo Spirito. E`
un gruppo multi etnico e multi confessionale formato da circa 1000 cantanti, uomini e donne, sparsi in
tutto il mondo e con un contingente di circa 200 membri nella zona del Sud California, e diverse
centinaia in varie città italiane quali Fidenza, Busseto, Zibello, Cremona, Ponte Dell’Olio, Firenze, Milano,
Prato, Roma, Caserta, Taranto e Torino. Il MILLENNIUM CHOIR presenta un'inusuale fusione e
tessitura di sonorità vocali con un misto che va dal classico a colori più popolari e contemporanei,
compresa anche una forte influenza del coro gospel. Questa combinazione di voci così ben
proporzionate nei pesi e nei colori fa sì che la sonorità di questo coro diventi unica e quindi diversa da
ogni altro coro. Il giorno di Natale del 1999 il MILLENNIUM CHOIR fu il coro ufficiale in Vaticano
mentre il Santo Padre apriva le Porte Sante all’intero mondo. E’ stato invitato a cantare una volta
ancora per il Papa e per oltre 2 milioni di giovani intervenuti da tutto il mondo alla Giornata Mondiale
della Gioventù, il 19 di agosto dell'anno 2000, a Tor Vergata (Roma). Come aggiunta all’organico
originale del "Recital del Magnificat", composto per solo tenore e chitarra acustica, il MILLENNIUM
CHOIR a volte partecipa a questo “momento di meditazione e preghiera con la musica” con una
formazione ridotta fra i 10 e 20 coristi circa, chiamato affettuosamente da BEPPE "Coro degli Angioletti"
e/o “Millennium Choir's Little Angels Department”.

BEPPE CANTARELLI is a native of Busseto, in the county of Parma, Italy. Birthplace of composer
GIUSEPPE VERDI, this region is known for its rich musical heritage. It has given the world some of
the most hauntingly beautiful melodies, and provided inspiration for the young CANTARELLI, who is
now an American citizen & resides in Los Angeles. BEPPE came to America in 1982 when QUINCY
JONES asked him to participate in his U.S. Tour as lead guitarist. He has established a successful
career as a contemporary composer, arranger and producer with many "secular" hit songs and film
scores to his credit. He has worked with prominent recording industry artists such as ARETHA
FRANKLIN, for whom he composed the number one hit song "Another Night," MARIAH CAREY, for
whom he composed the worldwide smash hit song "I Still Believe," MINA, the legendary Italian singer
for whom he composed, orchestrated and produced 4 albums/LPs and over 20 songs including smash
worldwide hits such as “Anche Tu” and “Se Il Mio Canto Sei Tu,” BONNIE TYLER ("Before This Night Is
Through"), JOE COCKER ("Tell Me There's A Way"), LEATA GALLOWAY ("With Every Beat Of My
Heart"), LAURA BRANIGAN ("Lonely Nights"), just to name a few. He has composed, arranged and
produced 4 albums/LPs and 8 singles for world-renowned Italian rock group BANCO DEL MUTUO
SOCCORSO (a.k.a. BANCO), and singles and albums for many other major European and Italian
Artists such as AMII STEWART, MINA, ANNA OXA, FIORELLA MANNOIA, LOREDANA BERTE`,
ORNELLA VANONI, MARCELLA, FRANCO SIMONE, CATERINA VALENTE, TOTO CUTUGNO,
RENATO ZERO, ORIETTA BERTI, and MARIO LAVEZZI, just to name a few.
In 1988, with the support & guidance of his then manager & wife Patrice A. Cantarelli, BEPPE returned
to his “classical” background and start composing within the so-called “classical-crossover” genre. In
January 1997, he was asked by Madre Luigia Aguzzi, the badess at the Roman Sanctuary of the
“Madonna del Divino Amore,” to compose a new “Magnificat” for the Pope and for the new Sanctuary.
After over one year of failed attempts, obviously intimidated by the fact that all the major composers
from Bach to Mozart, Vivaldi, Strauss and Beethoven had written unforgettable music to those famous
Latin words by the Gospel of Saint Luke, and even “more obviously” due to Madre Luigia’s prayers
and relentless pressure, he was finally able to submit his new “Magnificat” that was premiered by THE
MILLENNIUM CHOIR on Christmas Day 1999 in the Vatican. Such a memorable performance was a
musical segment of the worldwide telecast “APRITE LE PORTE A CRISTO (Open The Doors To Christ)”
from the Vatican, while Pope John Paul II was opening the Holy Doors during the Great Jubilee for the
Third Millennium. Today’s unique recital features an “unplugged” performance by BEPPE
CANTARELLI playing acoustic guitar and singing the composition that started it all, the very same
“Magnificat” that inspired all the selections of this evening of “prayer with music.” THE MILLENNIUM
CHOIR also performs the same “Magnificat,” originally composed and orchestrated for choir, piano &
orchestra, this time accompanied only by BEPPE’s acoustic guitar, along with several other selections,
while soloist GIOVANNA GATTUSO performs other compositions of the recital in a duet format with
BEPPE.
GIOVANNA GATTUSO (soprano, jazz singer & second conductor) is a musician & vocalist with a very
sophisticated and refined style and taste. This is due to her extended experience both in Europe and in
the United States of America; experience that gives her a chance to experiment in a very natural way
from the opera and the European lyrical music to the most emotional & difficult jazz compositions. She
has just terminated a U.S. promotional tour of her new album CD “Jungle e Maree”, (released last April
3, 2004), of which she is responsible for composing both lyrics and music. Released in the States
through the Los Angeles recording label VELVET BEE RECORDS, the album has been receiving an
excellent response as far as sales as well as critics, especially from the California audiences. As a matter
of fact GIOVANNA has been invited by the Italian Consul to participate during the month of July to the
“Settimana Italiana” (the “Italian Week”) in Los Angeles, a music, film and literature week around the
Southern California metropolis. She has perfected her vocal skills, and gospel and jazz styles, at U.C.S.D.
in San Diego, while she has advanced her vocal technique with Maestro SETH RIGGS. She collaborates
for recordings and concerts with some of the top Italian and American jazz musicians. Her eclectic

variety of styles and her unique capacity to adjust her voice to different formats have given her the
possibility to collaborate with musicians and within projects of various genres, from classical to classical
crossover to jazz. She has participated to the contemporary opera “Songs for Psyche” by Argentinean
composer JORGE ANDRÈS BOSSO with such interpreters and musicians as LUISA PRANDINA, first
harp at La Scala Theatre in Milan, and actress MILENA VUKOTIC. As an established vocal teacher,
she represents Maestro SETH RIGGS (who taught such artists as MICHAEL JACKSON, NATALIE
COLE, QUINCY JONES, RAY CHARLES, BARBRA STREISAND, CELINE DION, LISA MINELLI,
MICHAEL BOLTON) within the Italian Territory. She’s been working and collaborating with BEPPE
CANTARELLI for several years and she is the MILLENNIUM CHOIR’s second conductor.
THE MILLENNIUM CHOIR symbolizes peace in the world and the determination to enter the New
Millennium with renewed hope for a better world and prayer to the Supreme Spirit. It is a multi ethnic
group of approximately 1,000 male & female singers from around the world (and counting!!!) with
different musical and religious backgrounds and with various types of training: almost 200 in the
Southern California area, and several hundreds from various Italian cities such as Fidenza, Busseto,
Zibello, Cremona, Ponte Dell’Olio, Firenze, Milano, Prato, Roma, Caserta, Taranto, and Torino. THE
MILLENNIUM CHOIR features an unusual versatility, underlined by the blend & texture of its voices
that presents a mixture of "classical" & more "contemporary-pop" flavors including a strong "gospelR&B" influence. Such well proportioned blend gives the choir a unique sound that makes it different
from any other choir, whether classical, operatic, gospel, and/or pop. On Christmas Day 1999, in a
worldwide telecast, the MILLENNIUM CHOIR performed as the official choir in the Vatican, while
POPE JOHN PAUL II opened the Holy Doors to the entire world, a new "Magnificat" composed by its
music director BEPPE CANTARELLI. The same composition was also performed by the
MILLENNIUM CHOIR in Tor Vergata (Rome, Italy) on August 19, 2000 in front of the POPE and 2.3
million young spectators who came to Rome for the “World Youth Day” celebrations. As an addition to
the original line-up of the “Magnificat Recital”, composed for tenor & acoustic guitar only, THE
MILLENNIUM CHOIR sometimes participates to this “moment of meditation and prayer with music”
with a smaller and reduced line-up made of between 10 and 20 singers, affectionately called by BEPPE
“Little Angels Choir” and/or “Millennium Choir’s Little Angels Department.”
