CHUCK BERRY E DINTORNI
Lo scorso anno scolastico il concerto finale è stato interamente dedicato ai Beatles nel 50°
anniversario della pubblicazione del loro primo disco. Quest’anno si è deciso di andare alla ricerca
delle origini musicali del famoso gruppo inglese. Così il tradizionale evento musicale che segna il
termine delle lezioni della scuola primaria sarà riservato al Rock n’ Roll e in particolare al musicista
afroamericano Chuck Berry. La seconda parte del concerto, invece, sarà destinata al Rock n’ Roll in
Italia con un piccolo omaggio a Mina e una sconosciuta cover di Rock and Roll Music in italiano.
Per l’occasione il Coro scolastico dell’Istituto “Sacro Cuore” sarà accompagnato da Long John
Silver and His Rock n’ roll band. Il coro e la rock band saranno diretti dal Maestro Alessandro Pace.
Il progetto oltre alla Musica ha coinvolto gli insegnamenti d’Inglese (maestra Erika Biagini) e
d’Arte e immagine (maestra Serena Castellarin). Il programma prevede: Rock Around the Clock
incisa nel 1954 da Bill Haley & His Comets; Johnny B. Goode scritta Chuck Berry nel 1955 e
pubblicata nel 1958; Roll Over Beethoven sempre di Berry pubblicata nel 1956 e ripresa dai Beatles
nell’album With the Beatles; Be-Bop-A-Lula registrata per la prima volta nel 1956 da Gene Vincent
e i Blue Caps e più volte interpretata da Elvis Presley e Paul McCartney; Come On singolo di Berry
del 1961 scelto come brano d’esordio dai Rolling Stones nel 1963; Tintarella di luna 45 giri di
Mina del 1959; Rock and Roll Music di Berry incisa anche dai Beatles nel long play Beatles For
Sale.
Last year our final concert was entirely dedicated to the Beatles fifty years after their first single
was released. This year we decided to discover the Beatles’ musical roots. This is why our concert,
which also celebrates the end of school lessons, is a tribute to Rock’n Roll music and to Chuck
Berry’s songs. The last part of the concert is dedicated to Rock music in Italy, with a famous song
performed by Mina and an unknown cover of Rock and Roll Music in Italian. For this very special
occasion, the Sacro Cuore School’s Choir is accompanied by Long John Silver and His Rock n’
Roll band. Teacher Alessandro Pace will direct the choir and the band. This project has not only
involved Music but also English (teacher Erika Biagini) and Art (teacher Serena Castellarin). This
is the concert program: Rock Around the Clock recorded in 1954 by Bill Haley & His Comets;
Johnny B. Goode written by Chuck Berry in1955 and recorded in 1958; Roll Over Beethoven also
by Chuck Berry recorded in 1956 and performed by the Beatles in the album With the Beatles; BeBop-A-Lula first recorded in 1956 by Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps and often performed by Paul
McCartney; Come On a 1961 production by Chuck Berry, used as first single released by the
Rolling Stones in 1963; Tintarella di luna a 45 by Mina in 1959; Rock and Roll Music by Chuck
Berry also recorded by the Beatles in their album Beatles For Sale.
