Se Porro è stata impegnata negli anni in una ricerca compositiva volta ad estendere
il proprio raggio d’azione verso nuove tematiche e tipologie, non ha trascurato allo
stesso tempo una riflessione profonda sulla materia. Mantenendo salde le caratteristiche
formali e funzionali, tutte le linee si diversificano per l’accurata scelta delle finiture,
per l’accostamento sapiente di materiali e colori affinché ogni prodotto rifletta l’identità
di chi lo sceglie, con infinite combinazioni e personalizzazioni poss
ibili. Un lavoro di
grande sensibilità e cura, spesso invisibile per l’occhio dell’osservatore, maggiormente
attratto dalla pulizia formale dei complementi d’arredo e dalle
geometrie complesse
ed articolate dei sistemi. Per mettere in luce questo filone di ricerca parallelo è stata
ideata Material House la collezione che riprende i prodotti a catalogo più conosciuti e li
re-interpreta liberamente a
ttraverso un uso originale dei materiali.
Abbandonando le inibizioni e sciogliendo la fantasia, Porro si confronta con nuovi
rivestimenti, come feltro e carta da parati applicati creativamente alle superfici, o
vernici stese a pennellate e lasciate asciugare naturalmente. E sperimenta nuove
tecniche e lavorazioni, che distorcono i supporti arricchendoli di inusuali sensazioni
tattili e visive. Un’indagine accurata e allo stesso momento poetica tradisce l’attenzione
rivolta a tutte le forme espressive contemporanee, arte, moda, grafica e letteratura,
per catturare un universo di riferimenti e segni il più possibile vasto, da rielaborare
in chiave personale. Attraverso un gioco di successive sovrapposizioni, trattamenti
superficiali, rifiniture, mobili prodotti industrialmente in serie privi di imperfezioni
sono trasformati nel loro intimo e arricchiti di tutti quegli errori e quelle particolarità
occasionali che rendono unico e riconoscibile un oggetto fatto a mano.
Il risultato è una miscellanea nello stile della decorazione a cavallo tra il mobile deco
e quello razionalista, che stempera il rigore e il controllo tipici del design Porro con una
nuova forma di creatività artigianale, scaturita dalla seconda lavorazione del prodotto
industriale. Non un esperimento fine a sé stesso, ma un’attività di ricerca alla scoperta
di nuovi spunti creativi. Esito dell’operazione, una singolare serie di prodotti a tiratura
limitata: pezzi numerati e, per qualche piccola ragione, diversi da qualsiasi altro
presente sul mercato. Da possedere e collezionare.
Porro has always been involved in composition research to widen their action towards
new technology and subjects. Moreover they realized in the same time a deep remark
about material. By strongly holding the shape and functional characteristics, all the
product lines appear different due to the choice of finishing and to the expert mix
of materials and colours. For these reasons each product shows the character of
the owner, with a lot of combinations and personalization.
It is a work that shows artistic sensibility and great care that are often invisible to the
observer. In fact the users are mainly attracted into the plainness of furniture items
and into the elaborate and structured geom
etry of systems. To point out the mentioned
work of parallel research, Porro planned Material House, a collection that refers to the
well known catalogue products that are afterwards freely translated by a creative use
of materials. Getting rid of inhibitions and using imagination Porro introduced new
sheeting as felt and wallpaper to cover surfaces, or licks of paints that are left to dry
naturally. Moreover Porro tested new technologies and new manufacturing that changed
supports and enhanced them with particular visual and tactile feelings.
A careful and poetic research misrepresents the attention towards the contemporary
expressive lines, art, fashion, graphic art and literature, so to be able to catch a wide
world of references and signs that can be personally revised. By means of later
superimpositions, surface processing and finishing, industrial flawless furniture are
deep down changed and they will be enhance with the mistakes and original aspects
that make a handmade item as unique and identifiable.
The result is a decoration style mixture between “deco” and rationalist furniture
that softens rigour and check of Porro design by means of a new form of handmade
creativity that comes out from the second manufacturing of industrial product.
It is not a simple test but it is a research activity to discover new creative ideas.
The final result is a particular series of limited edition products: numbered pieces
and, due to some small feature, different one from the other. They become pieces
to own and to be collected.
