As the Italian Federation, we
hadn’t planned to participate
in the 2011 World Cup. We
had to make adjustments to
the Italian Baseball League
schedule and review our
budget, which was far more
complicated.
The World Cup is anyway
an intriguing challenge. Italy
doesn’t have a particular
goal in the competition, but
being the defending European
Champion and the bronze
medal winner (after leaving
behind power houses such
as Chinese Taipei, Japan
and Korea) at the 2010
Intercontinental Cup gives us a
lot of responsibilities.
Our manager Marco Mazzieri
knows that the Federation is
focused on the 2012 European Championship and the 2013 World Baseball
Classic, but is also aware of the fact that playing a good tournament in
Panama is the best way to get ready for those tournaments.
I am pretty positive that our ‘azzurri’ will do their best and will leave a lot of
good memories for baseball fans in Panama.

IL SALUTO DEL PRESIDENTE RICCARDO FRACCARI
Quando abbiamo fatto la programmazione dell’attività 2011, il Campionato
Mondiale non era previsto nel calendario internazionale e la sua inclusione
ha costretto la Federazione non solo a modificare il calendario della
Italian Baseball League ma anche, con non pochi problemi, a rivedere gli
stanziamenti di bilancio per l’attività delle squadre nazionali.
Dal punto di vista strettamente sportivo, però, il Mondiale rappresenta una
sfida affascinante. La nostra nazionale, che così bene ha fatto nella stagione
2010, torna in campo per un torneo che ha un prestigio notevole e un livello
tecnico importante.
Come Italia, non abbiamo obiettivi particolari se non quello di ben figurare e
di cominciare a impostare la squadra per gli impegni internazionali dell’anno
prossimo. Ma siamo comunque la nazionale che si è piazzata terza all’ultima
Coppa Intercontinentale, lasciandosi alle spalle Taiwan, Giappone e Corea.
Sentiamo la responsabilità di quel risultato e vogliamo che gli azzurri diano il
massimo, al fine di consolidare i risultati raggiunti.
Allo stesso tempo, il nostro manager Marco Mazzieri sta lavorando per
2 appuntamenti che consideriamo prioritari: l’Europeo del 2012, che si
gioca in Olanda e che ci vedrà partecipare come Campioni in carica, e il
World Baseball Classic 2013, l’appuntamento più prestigioso del baseball
internazionale.
Fare bene a Panama sarà la miglior preparazione per questi appuntamenti.

He is a reliever for Cariparma. A second year IBL player, he contributed to the
league title as a rookie and made it all the way to the national team, becoming a
key player in the bull pen. He played his first Italian season at the ‘Serie A2’ level
for Sala Baganza in 2009. He pitched an outstanding season, going 8-2 in 12
appearances (6 starts) and a 1.48 ERA. In the United States he pitched 2 seasons
for the University of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) and one season for Kalamazzo of the
independent Frontier League.
E’ un rilievo per il Cariparma nella sua seconda stagione nella IBL. Al suo primo
anno ha contribuito in maniera fondamentale allo scudetto e si è meritato la
convocazione in nazionale, diventando elemento chiave del bull pen azzurro. Il suo debutto italiano risale al
2009, quando ha giocato in Serie A2 a Sala Baganza mettendo assieme numeri importanti: un record di 8-2
in 12 presenze (6 da partente) e una media PGL di appena 1.48. Negli Stati Uniti ha lanciato 2 stagioni per la

He plays for Fortitudo Bologna. He made his debut in the Italian Baseball League
in 2006 for Godo. His baseball career had started at the University of Alabama.
Cillo played then 2 seasons for the Marlins (Rookie, A- and A level) and one in the
independent Northern League for Calgary. He played for the first time for Italy in
the 2006 European Baseball Series and was on the 2009 World Baseball Classic
roster.
Gioca nella Fortitudo Bologna. Ha debuttato nella IBL nel 2006. Prima di approdare in Italia aveva giocato a livello di College per l’Università dell’Alabama e
da professionista per i Florida Marlins (Rookie League, A basso e A) e per Calgary
nella indipendente Northern League. Risale al 2006 (Euro Baseball Series) la sua prima apparizione in nazionale. Era nella rosa del World Baseball Classic 2009.

Italian through his mother’s side, 2008 was his first season in the IBL and he
played for Grosseto.
After graduating from the University of New Mexico, he signed for the Cleveland Indians in 2001 and spent 6 seasons in their farm system, including 12
games at AAA Buffalo. He spent the 2007 season in the independent Atlantic
League with the York Revolution and for the first time in his pro career he was
given the possibility to start in 2 games. He represented Italy internationally
since 2009.
Sta giocando la sua terza stagione nella IBL per Grosseto. Diplomato all’Università
del New Mexico, nel 2001 ha firmato per i Cleveland Indians, con i quali ha passato 6 stagioni da rilievo nelle
leghe minori, comprese 12 apparizioni a Buffalo in Triplo A. Nel 2007 ha giocato nella indipendente Atlantic
League per gli York Revolution, lanciando per la prima volta da partente nella sua carriera. E’ regolarmente nel
gruppo della nazionale dal 2009.

He just finished his 4th IBL season for Montepaschi Grosseto. Signed as a non
drafted free agent by the Kansas City Royals in 2002, he appeared in 130 Minor
League games, including 1 at Double A Wichita in 2005. After being released, he
joined his older brother Leonardo in Italy, where his father’s family originated in the
Region of Abruzzo. He made his debut for Team Italy during the 2009 World Cup.
Ha appena concluso la sua quarta stagione nella IBL, dove ha raggiunto sua
fratello Leonardo nel 2008 dopo essere stato rilasciato dai Kansas City Royals.
Aveva giocato a livello professionistico 130 partite per l’organizzazione dal 2002.
Nel 2005 ha giocato una gara di Doppio A a Wichita. La famiglia del padre è
originaria dell’Abruzzo. Ha esordito in nazionale durante il Mondiale del 2009.

A rookie in the Italian Baseball League 2008, after playing 3 seasons at the A2
level, Tiago Da Silva was one of the keys that opened San Marino to door to their
first pennant ever. Since his debut, he proved to be one of the most effective starters
in the IBL. He’s been the number one starter for Italy since 2009. In the month of
September he celebrated twice: for leading his team to their second pennant and
for the birth of his first child.
Esordiente nella Italian Baseball League 2008 dopo 3 anni trascorsi in Serie A2,
Tiago Da Silva è stato certamente una delle chiavi che hanno aperto per San
Marino la porta del primo scudetto. Da allora è stato uno dei migliori lanciatori
della IBL. Il suo caricamento ricorda i grandi pitcher giapponesi. Dal 2009 è il lanciatore numero uno della
nazionale. In questo settembre 2011 ha festeggiato 2 volte: per il secondo scudetto del San Marino e per la
nascita del suo primo figlio.

He was one of the 8 players who entered the Italian Federation Academy in the
opening year 2004. In 2005 he made his debut in the Italian Baseball League and
helped San Marino reach their first ever Italian Baseball Series. In the Winter of
2005 he signed for the Chicago Cubs and represented Italy in the 2006 World
Baseball Classic. After 5 seasons, 2 at the AA level, the Cubs released him after
2011 Spring Training and he moved to the independent American Association,
pitching for the Lincoln Saltdogs.
E’ uno degli 8 giocatori che hanno partecipato al primo anno di corso
dell’Accademia FIBS nel 2004. Nel 2005 ha esordito nella Italian Baseball League,
con il San Marino, che in quella stagione ha giocato per la prima volta le Italian Baseball Series. Ha poi
firmato per i Cubs di Chicago e nel 2006 ha vestito la maglia azzurra al primo World Baseball Classic. Dopo
5 campionati, 2 a livello AA, all’inizio della stagione 2011 i Cubs lo hanno rilasciato. Alessandro si è così accasato con i Lincoln Saltdogs della indipendente American Association.

got started in Bollate near Milan, where he combined an outstanding record over 3
seasons (53-4) at the ‘Serie A2’ level. He played his first game for Team Italy in the
2006 European Baseball Series.
Lanciatore mancino, gioca nel Montepaschi Grosseto. Proprio con i maremmani ha
debuttato in IBL nel 2006, dopo aver giocato per tre anni (53-4 il suo formidabile
record) con il Bollate in serie A2. Con Grosseto ha firmato nell’aprile del 2007
una perfect game. Nella stessa stagione è stato il lanciatore con la miglior media punti guadagnati (1.44). Ha
disputato la prima partita con la nazionale all’European Baseball Series ed ha fatto parte della squadra che ha
partecipato alla Coppa Intercontinentale.

A product of Grosseto farm system, he is an Alumnus of the Federation Academy.
He made his debut in the IBL as a teen ager’. He spent all of the 2007 season in
the ‘Serie A2’ with Rosemar. After that he starred in the AAA European Championship (2-0), pitching 10.1 innings over 3 games without allowing a single earned
run, striking out 12 and giving up only 4 hits. The opponent batting average was
.105. After signing for the Cincinnati Reds, he has represented Italy internationally
since 2007.
Cresciuto nelle giovanili del Grosseto, ha frequentato l’Accademia FIBS. Ha esordito nella IBL ancora minorenne. Nel 2007 ha giocato in serie ‘A2’ per il Rosemar,
dopo di che è stato grande protagonista dell’Europeo Juniores (2-0), non avendo concesso punti guadagnati in
10.1 riprese, con 12 strike out e appena 4 valide concesse. Contro di lui gli avversari hanno battuto .105. Sotto
contratto con i Cincinnati Reds, ha vestito la maglia azzurra con continuità a partire dalla stagione 2007.

He was born in Anzio but grew up in Nettuno with the Lions, a team that has
always competed at the youth level. In 2008 he was the top pitcher of Team Italy
during the AAA World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. He is an alumnus of FIBS
Academy, where he was spotted by the Arizona Diamondbacks, who signed him
as a non drafted free agent. He just finished his second season as a pro, playing in
the Appalachian Rookie League. He made his debut for Team Italy during the 2010
Intercontinental Cup.
E’ nato ad Anzio ma è cresciuto a Nettuno, formandosi come giocatore di baseball
nei Lions, una società che ha sempre ottenuto risultati importanti a livello giovanile.
Nel 2008 è stato il lanciatore numero uno della nazionale juniores al Mondiale di categoria di Edmonton (Canada). Ha frequentato l’Accademia di Tirrenia, dove è stato notato dagli Arizona Diamondbacks, con i quali
ha firmato un contratto da professionista. Ha appena concluso la sua seconda stagione in America, dove ha
giocato nella Appalachian League, livello Rookie.Ha esordito in nazionale alla Coppa Intercontinentale 2010.

After playing 2 seasons for Stetson at the NCAA level as a starter and as a reliever, Nicholas John Pugliese was drafted in 2008 by the Los Angeles Angels. He
appeared in a total 5 seasons as a pro, combining 94 appearances. The highest
level he reached was AA Arkansas, where he played 3 games in 2010. After 7
games at A+ Inland Empire, he was released at the beginning of the 2011 season
and moved to Bologna in the IBL. He will make his debut for Team Italy.
Dopo aver giocato 2 stagione per l’Università di Stetson, lanciando come partente
e come rilievo, Nicholas John Pugliese è stato scelto al draft del 2008 dai Los
Angeles Angels. Ha giocato da professionista per un totale di 5 stagioni, con un
totale di 94 presenze (3 in AA con Arkansas). Quest’anno dopo 7 presenze in A avanzato con Inland Empire,
gli Angels lo hanno rilasciato e si è accasato alla Fortitudo Bologna. E’ esordiente in nazionale.

He plays for Danesi Nettuno and is one of the top starters in the Italian Baseball
League. After one season in the Dominican Summer League with the Marlins, he
made his ‘Serie A1’ debut in 2002 for Colavita Anzio; he also played one season
for Bologna and won that year (2005) the Italian pennant and the Italian Cup. He
made his National Team debut in 2004 during the Haarlem Week.
Gioca nella Danesi Nettuno ed è considerate uno dei migliori partenti IBL. Dopo
un’esperienza nella Lega Estiva dominicana con i Marlins, ha debuttato in Italia
nel 2002 con l’Anzio, società nella quale era tornato nel 2006 dopo aver vinto nel
2005 scudetto e Coppa Italia con la Fortitudo Bologna. Il suo esordio in nazionale
risale all’Haarlem Week 2004.

When he played for MC Codogno in 2007, he was the first player from the second
division to make the National Team for a World Cup. Angrisano has also played
for Team Italy in 2006 during the European Baseball Series and the Intercontinental
Cup. He is the starting catcher for Unipol Bologna and considered one of the best
arms amongst the backstops in the Italian Baseball League.
Quando nel 2007 giocava per il MC Codogno, Angrisano fu il primo giocatore a
meritarsi la convocazione in nazionale per un Mondiale giocando in serie ‘A2’.
In nazionale aveva comunque debuttato nelle European Baseball Series del 2006,
partecipando poi alla Coppa Intercontinentale lo stesso anno. E’ il catcher titolare
della Unipol Bologna e ha molto credito nella IBL per la forza del suo braccio.

He was born and raised in Verona. A catcher with a respectable arm and a left
handed hitter, he made it to the Italian Baseball League with Parma in 2005 and
after a few years as their backup catcher, he got the everyday job in the 2010
season. During the 2011 season he started each game his team played.
He represented Italy in the 2006 University and made his debut on the major team
during the 2007 IBAF World Cup.
Notato in un provino per il suo braccio sopra la media e perché battitore mancino,
è stato ingaggiato dal Parma nel 2005 e nel ‘Ducato’ ha fatto il suo esordio in serie A1. Per qualche stagione è stato il secondo catcher della formazione emiliana.
Titolare a partire dalla stagione 2010, nel 2011 ha stabilito il record di giocare da titolare tutte le partite della
stagione. Entrato nel giro azzurro nel 2006 Mondiale Universitatio, ha fatto il suo esordio nella nazionale maggiore al Mondiale IBAF del 2007.

He has played pro baseball since 2004, when he signed for the Chicago Cubs.
In organized baseball he did not go beyond Class A advanced. He has played
until 2009 in the Independent Leagues (Atlantic and Can Am). He made his debut
in the Italian Baseball League for San Marino in 2010 and performed as the best
shortstop in the League. He was voted the MVP of the 2011 Italian Baseball Series.
He made his debut for Team Italy during the 2010 European Championship.
Ha giocato da professionista fin dal 2004, dopo aver firmato con i Cubs di Chicago. Il massimo livello al quale ha giocato nel baseball organizzato è il Singolo
A avanzato. Dal 2007 al 2009 ha però giocato nella Leghe Indipendenti (Atlantic
e Can Am). Ha esordito nella IBL nel 2010, vestendo la maglia del San Marino e rivelandosi il miglior interbase

Born in Nettuno, he made his debut in the Italian Baseball League for Anzio as a
17 year old in 2000. At the end of the season, he signed a Minor League contract
for the Seattle Mariners. He played 2 seasons at the Rookie League level and went
back to the IBL in 2002. He has played for Nettuno, Anzio and San Marino. He
helped San Marino win both their pennants: with a tie braking home run in game
7 in the 2008 campaign and with a solid performance in the 2011 Italian Baseball
Series.
Nato a Nettuno, ha esordito nella IBL a soli 17 anni nel 2000 con la maglia
dell’Anzio. Alla fine della stagione ha firmato un contratto di Minor League con
i Seattle Mariners, con i quali ha giocato 2 stagioni a livello di Rookie League. Dal 2002 gioca nella IBL e ha
vestito le maglie di Anzio, Nettuno e San Marino. Ha contribuito in maniera decisiva ad entrambi gli scudetti
vinti dal San Marino: si ricorda il suo fuoricampo in gara 7 nel 2008, ma è stato protagonista anche nelle
Series appena concluse.

He signed a professional contract as a 17 year old for the Montreal Expos in
1999, but he spent most of his career in the Independent Leagues (All American
Association, Northeast League, Canadian American Association and Golden
League). In 2006 he had his first chance in the IBL as an import player. After
obtaining Italian citizenship, he came back to Italy and won the pennant with Fortitudo Bologna. He made his debut for Team Italy during the 2009 World Cup.
Ha firmato appena diciassettenne un contratto da professionista con i Montreal
Expos nel 1999. Dalla stagione 2001 la sua carriera di è sviluppata nelle Leghe
Indipendenti (All American Association, Northeast League, Canadian American
Association e Golden League). Aveva già giocato nella IBL nel 2006 come straniero per l’Anzio.Da cittadino

the 2010 season. Back in full shape in Danesi Nettuno’s hot corner in 2010, he
contributed to Italy’s European Title and is now the clean up hitter and Captain for
Nettuno, the Team he made it to the IBL in 1999. He played the 2002 season for
the Rookie League Seattle Mariners. He made his debut for the National Team in
2003.
Miglior giocatore (MVP) nel 2007 e nel 2008, miglior media battuta nel 2008,
‘Peppe’ Mazzanti è tornato ad essere il terza base a tempo pieno della Danesi
Nettuno dopo che nel 2009 e all’inizio della stagione 2010 ha sofferto per problemi alla schiena. Elemento
chiave per la conquista dell’Europeo, oggi è il quarto in battuta e il capitano della Danesi. Dopo aver debuttato

He grew up in Cupra Montana (in the Marche Region), but made his debut in the
top League in Italy in 1998 for Caserta. After playing 67 games in 2 seasons for
Caserta, he moved to Rimini in 2000 and in 2001 he made his debut for Team
Italy, playing as the everyday second baseman in the European Championship. He
represented his country in the 2004 Olympics and won the League pennant with
Bologna in 2005 and 2009. He moved to San Marino in 2010 and helped the
team win the League pennant in 2011 as their everyday third base man. He can
also play as a middle infielder.
E’ cresciuto a Cupra Montana, ma il suo esordio nel massimo campionato è avvenuto nel 1998 a Caserta. Dopo aver giocato 67 gare in 2 stagioni per i campani, si è trasferito nel 2000 a
Rimini. Nel 2001 ha esordito in nazionale, ricoprendo il ruolo di seconda base titolare all’Europeo. Per l’Italia
ha giocato alle Olimpiadi di Atene. Ha vinto lo scudetto con Bologna nel 2005 e 2009, sempre in finale con
San Marino. Dal 2010 gioca proprio a San Marino come terza base e ha contribuito allo scudetto 2011. Può
ricoprire ogni posizione del diamante.

He was just a teen ager, when he made his debut in the IBL, playing 12 games for
Nettuno in the 2006 season. He has starred at the youth level and was amongst
the players invited to the first edition of the Major League European Academy. He
became an everyday player for Nettuno in the 2010 season and played an outstanding post season in 2011. He made his debuto for Team Italy during the 2010
European Championship.
Ha esordito giovanissimo nella IBL, collezionando 12 presenze nella stagione
2006 con la maglia del Nettuno. Grande protagonista dei campionati giovanili,
era stato invitato alla prima Accademia Europea della Major League. E’ diventato
un punto fermo della Danesi Nettuno nel 2010 e ha disputato una post season straordinaria quest’anno.Ha
esordito in nazionale durante l’Europeo 2010.

Originally a pitcher, he helped Avigliana obtain a historical promotion to the first
division in 2006. He made his Italian Baseball League debut in 2007 for Avigliana, then he moved to Grosseto the year after and to Rimini in 2009. In 2011 he
signed for San Marino and won the first league title of his career. He made his
debut for the National Team in 2006 during the Intercontinental Cup.
Nel 2006 ha contribuito alla storica promozione dell’Avigliana nel massimo
campionato e l’anno successivo ha fatto il suo esordio nella IBL con la squadra
piemontese. Nel 2008 si è trasferito a Grosseto e nel 2009 è passato a Rimini. Nel
2011 ha vinto con San Marino il suo primo scudetto. Dal 2006 fa comunque parte
del gruppo azzurro, col quale partecipò alla spedizione a Taiwan per la Coppa Intercontinentale.

hit 11 homers. He confirmed his potential and showed some power in 24 games in
the regular season and 3 in the post season. He is a Rookie for the National Team.
Ha appena concluso con la Unipol Bologna la sua prima stagione nella IBL. Nei
precedenti 4 anni ha giocato a livello di College per la Gonzaga University,
crescendo di stagione in stagione. Nel suo ultimo anno di College ha battuto .335
con 11 fuoricampo e nelle sue 24 presenze di regular season e 3 di post season

debut in the IBL for Cariparma the year after. After that first season, he played in
lower leagues and went back to the top in 2007. He has played for Rimini in 2010

province in the Cuba Serie Nacional. He represented Italy for the first time in a
friendly match against Cuba in Chieti on August 23rd 2007.
Si è trasferito in Italia dopo il matrimonio nel 2003 e ha debuttato nella IBL la
stagione successiva con il Cariparma. Dopo quell’esperienza, ha giocato in serie
minori ed è tornato nel massimo campionato nel 2007. Quest’anno ha vinto il suo
primo scudetto con San Marino. Chapelli ha giocato per la squadra della sua provincia nella Serie Nazionale
cubana. Proprio in un’amichevole contro Cuba, il 23 agosto 2007 a Chieti, ha esordito in maglia azzurra.

apparizione in azzurro nel 2002 a Roma in occasione del Cinquantenario della
prima partita tra Italia e Spagna, festeggiandolo con un fuoricampo. Ha disputato

MANAGER
Marco Mazzieri has been a marquee player in the Italian League since the
1980ies, playing over 1000 games (his life batting average is .297) and representing Italy 73 times. As a coach he managed Grosseto in the ‘Serie A1’, playing
the 2002 semi finals. For the Federation he has managed the AAA National Team,
winning the 2007 European Championship. He has been the skipper of Team Italy
since the 2007 IBAF World Cup. He won the 2010 European Championship and
claimed the bronze medal at the 2010 Intercontinental Cup.
Giocatore di primo piano, con oltre 1000 presenze nella IBL e 73 presenze in
nazionale, Marco Mazzieri ha allenato il Grosseto e lo ha portato alle semifinali
del 2002. Come tecnico federale è stato il manager della nazionale juniores, che
ha portato al titolo Europeo del 2007. Dal settembre dello stesso anno è manager
della nazionale maggiore, con cui ha vinto l’Europeo 2010 e conquistato una
storica medaglia di bronzo all’Intercontinentale dello stesso anno.

Marco Nanni was a catcher during his playing career and appeared in 436
games at the top level, mainly for his Fortitudo Bologna, but played the 1992
season for Calze Verdi Casalecchio and for Rimini in 1996 and 1997. In his last
season as a player (2001) he met Mauro Mazzotti and became his third base
coach the year after. When Mazzotti left at the end of the 2005 season, Nanni
became Bologna’s manager. He has won a League Title (2009) and a European
Cup (2010). The World Cup will be his first tournament as a coach for Italy.
Da giocatore ha ricoperto il ruolo di catcher e vanta 436 presenze nel massimo
campionato, principalmente con la maglia della sua Fortitudo Bologna, ma ha
giocato la stagione 1992 per le Calze Verdi Casalecchio e a Rimini nel 1996
e 1997. La sua carriera, iniziata nel 1984, si è chiusa alla fine della stagione
2001. Nel 2002 è diventato coach di Mauro Mazzotti e lo è stato fino alla fine
del campionato 2005. Dopo la partenza di Mazzotti, ha assunto la guida della

PITCHING COACH
William Herbert Holmberg played 3 seasons in Italy at the ‘Serie A2’ level and
began his coaching career in Godo (near Ravenna) in 1989. As a manager he
won the 1999 Junior Italian Championship for Godo. As pitching coach he won
the 2006 European Champions Cup for San Marino. He is the MLB Coach in
Residence at the FIBS Academy in Tirrenia and has managed the AAA National
Team in 2003 and 2004. He’s been coaching for Mazzieri since 2007. He is an
international scout for the Chicago Cubs.
William Herbert Holmberg ha un passato da giocare di Serie A2. La sua carriera
di tecnico è iniziata nel 1989 a Godo. Con i Goti ha vinto lo scudetto Juniores
nel 1999 e, come pitching coach con San Marino, la Coppa Campioni2006. E’

BATTING COACH
Michael Joseph Piazza is regarded as the best hitting catcher of all times. He holds
the record for the most home runs (396) hit while catching and has appeared 12
times in the All Star Games while starring in the National League for the Dodgers
and the Mets. His sparkling career (batting average .308 with 427 homers) came
to an end after the 2007 season. Mike Piazza’s family moved to the US from Sciacca (Sicily) and he is an alumnus for Team Italy, that he represented as a player in
the 2006 World Baseball Classic.
Ritenuto il miglior battitore di tutti i tempi tra i catcher (detiene il record di fuoricampo, 396, nel ruolo), Michael Joseph Piazza torna in azzurro come coach dopo
aver vestito la maglia della nazionale come coach nel World Baseball Classic

Alberto D’AURIA
Alberto D’Auria has had an outstanding playing career as an infielder, playing
1055 games in the ‘Serie A1’ for Nettuno and representing Italy 120 times. He is
the full time third base coach for Nettuno since the 2007 season. He coaches for
Mazzieri since the 2007 World Cup.
Alberto D’Auria è stato giocatore simbolo del Nettuno (1055 presenze in A1) e
della nazionale (azzurro per 120 partite). Dal 2007 è a tempo pieno il coach
di terza base del Nettuno nella IBL. E’ entrato nello staff di Marco Mazzieri dal
Mondiale 2007.

Claudio VECCHI
Claudio Vecchi is better known as ‘Cebi’ in the world of italian baseball, the coach
who can throw endless batting practices and the tireless memorabilia collector.
He played from 1968 to 2002 for Modena (except the 1988 and ’89 seasons in
Reggio Emilia) and appeared in 42 games at the top level. He became a coach in
2003, the year when Modena played the Italian Baseball Series. He coached for
Fortitudo Bologna from 2005 to 2007 and now is back to Modena. He has been
with the National Team since 2007.
Nel baseball italiano tutti lo conoscono come ‘Cebi’, il coach che può lanciare il BP
più a lungo e l’instancabile collezionista. Ha avuto una lunga carriera da giocatore (1968-2002), quasi tutta a Modena (42 presenze nel massimo campionato) e
con una parentesi di 2 anni (1988 e ’89) a Reggio Emilia. E’ diventato coach del
Modena nel 2003, l’anno in cui i ‘canarini’ hanno giocato la finale. A Bologna dal
2005 al 2007, ora è di nuovo a Modena. E’ nello staff della nazionale dal 2007.
