BIOGRAFIA
Born in Palermo, he studied in the State Conservatory "V. Bellini "of Palermo graduated in percussion
instruments with a score of 10/10 and graduate, graduating's Degree with honors, honors and
honorable mention for the dissertation. The beginning of his career he won the public hearing as
timpanist and percussionist for the Italian Youth Orchestra, which is composed of the greatest
talents in Italian, and so he worked with conductors and musicians of international level (as the
Masters R. Muti, C.M. Giulini, D. Gatti, G. Sinopoli, and others) and has played in the most important
theaters in Italy as the theater Reggio di Torino, La Fenice in Venice, the Theater Comunale of
Bologna, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. He made various auditions at the Lyric-Symphonic
Foundations always finishing among the first places.
Since 1998 he works as a percussionist for the Foundation Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the second
largest after the symphony orchestra Teatro alla Scala in Milan, is a professor since 2010 to Drums
and Percussion Jazz for the State Conservatory V. Bellini in Palermo.
In 2013 he performed as the drummer for the soundtrack of the film "The Brightside" winner of the
first prize Gold Medal-Director's Choice at the Park City Film Music Festival in America and the
Hollywood Film Festival and nominated for an Emmy Award.
In 2012 he attended a course Jazz at Berklee College of Music held by Master Mr. Gary Burton,
who at the end of the course wrote to him a letter of recommendation (letter attached).
In 2008 he composed and performed as a solist the "Concerto for Vibraphone and Orchestra (to
Mary and Son)" commissioned in the 50th Foundation Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the concert
performed at the theater Politeama for the same Foundation was subsequently reported by the
prestigious newspaper of general circulation in the area Italian "Drums and Percussion" and
requested the following year for a performance at Washington University.
In addition to classical music has a career in Pop music and Jazz; In fact, he made numerous
concerts and national and international tours as a drummer and vibraphonist in International
Festivals as Macao International Music Festival (China), Womad World of Music and others. In the
national field has worked with C. Baglioni, E. Ruggeri, P. Vallesi, Ron and in the international arena
with Sting, Mike Stern, Manhattan Transfer, Ute Lemper, Sarah Jane Morris.
Composer and arranger, he has to his name numerous compositions: among these is the coauthor of the music of the musical Father Joe that was presented at the Teatro Brancaccio in
Rome in December 2008 and author of the music for solo percussion for the show “By Fire to Fire”
that were choreographed by the first dancer of the Opera of Rome Riccardo Di Cosmo last
Summer. Since 2013, frontman (as Vibraphonist) New Modern Jazz Quartet unique project in Italy
that has staged a program completely dedicated to the historical formation of the Modern Jazz
Quartet.
