What is illegal dumping?
Che cos’è lo scarico illegale?
Illegal dumping is the unlawful placement of any
material in public spaces, such as footpaths, streets,
laneways, parks and waterways.
Per scarico illegale si intende il collocamento illecito di
qualsiasi materiale in posti pubblici, quali i marciapiedi, le
strade, i sentieri ,i parchi e i condotti.
How does it affect me?
Dumped rubbish is ugly and makes our streets look
uncared for. It can also be a health and safety hazard
and pollute the environment. Furthermore, cleaning
up dumped rubbish costs Council and the community
over $200,000 every year! That’s money that could be
spent on more worthwhile projects.
What can I do with my unwanted items?
• Place them in the correct residential garbage or
recycling bin for regular collection.
• Book a free Council unwanted goods collection
for larger items such as furniture, appliances,
mattresses, garden prunings etc.

• Take chemical wastes to a free Chemical CleanOut
event. Ring the Environment Line on 131 555 for
dates and locations of upcoming events.
• Donate good quality items to local charity stores.
• Find a new home for your items by advertising them
on www.freecycle.org – the online sharing network.

Lo scarico illegale è brutto e fa sembrare le nostre strade
abbandonate. Può inoltre costituire un rischio per la salute
e la sicurezza e inquinare l’ambiente. Inoltre, la raccolta di
immondizia scaricata costa al Comune e alla Comunità oltre
$200.000 all’anno! Sono soldi che potrebbero essere spesi
per progetti più lodevoli.
Che cosa posso fare con gli oggetti
indesiderati?
• Metteteli nell’apposito bidone dei rifiuti o nel bidone del
riciclaggio per la raccolta regolare.
• Prenotate una raccolta del Comune gratuita per le merci
indesiderate per gli articoli di grandi dimensioni quali i
mobili, gli elettrodomestici, i materassi, la potatura del
giardino ecc. Per prenotare, telefonate al numero 9716
1800. Si applicano condizioni particolari.
• Portate i rifiuti chimici a un evento gratuito per la
raccolta chimica. Chiamate la linea per l’ambiente al
numero 131 555 per ottenere le date e i luoghi dei
prossimi eventi.
• Donate gli oggetti di buona qualità ai negozi
di beneficenza di zona.
• Trovate una nuova casa per i vostri oggetti
pubblicizzandoli su www.freecycle.org – la rete online
di condivisione.
