Floor 111 botticino, bordura B15 colors 83 nero, 111 botticino, flowers 102 giallo and 104 rosso prugna. grandinetti 6 Graniglie — La marmetta in graniglia nasce alla fine del 1800, probabilmente prodotta da una comunità di frati residente a San Severino Marche, parallelamente all’invenzione del cemento, usato come legante per le schegge ottenute dalla frantumazione dei più svariati tipi di marmo e poi pressato in forme. Progettualmente, statisticamente ed esteticamente la marmetta in graniglia è ispirata agli stupendi pavimenti in “terrazzo alla veneziana” che venivano realizzati sul posto e che ornano ancora oggi le più belle ville d’Italia, tanto che la marmetta può essere considerata un pavimento alla veneziana “precostruito”. Determinanti nella valorizzazione dei pavimenti in graniglia sono stati gli ornamenti: greche, bordure e tappeti abbelliscono i fondi in tinta unita. Questi ornamenti si suddividono ancor oggi in “floreali” e “geometrici” secondo le due tendenze culturali allora dominanti: quella liberty e quella neoclassica. Piu tardi anche le correnti futuriste influenzarono i campionari delle marmette: fin da allora la marmetta garantiva, oltre ad eccezionale qualità e durezza, un notevolissimo pregio estetico, tanto che fu utilizzata per la ripavimentazione di palazzi di epoche precedenti, ottenendo splendide realizzazioni oggi protette dalle Soprintendenze alle Belle Arti. Marble grit floor tiles were first seen at the end of the 19th century in parallel with the invention of cement, used as a binder for the chips obtained from crushing the most varied types of marble (hence the vast range of colours that characterise the production of marble grit floor tiles) to form the mixture subsequently pressed into moulds. Design-wise, stylistically and aesthetically, marble grit floor tiles were undoubtedly inspired by the magnificent Venetian mosaic floors that were entirely made in situ and still today adorn the most beautiful villas in Italy (just think of the Palladian villas). So much so that, in the most simplistic way, marble grit floor tiles may be considered a kind of “prefabricated” Venetian mosaic floor. Adornments were instrumental to enhancing marble grit floors. Greek fretwork, edging and rugs embellished the plain backgrounds. These decorations, which are now classics, sprang up in the early decades of the 20th century and still today are divided into “geometrical” and “floral” patterns following the two dominating cultural trends of the time: Art Nouveau (1910-1920), in Italy better known as “floral”, and futurist (1930-1940) leaning towards movements and geometries. I pavimenti in pastina, già noti alla fine del secolo passato, hanno avuto, per merito di abili artigiani, molta diffusione alla fine dell’800 e primi ‘900. Le pastine hanno pavimentato ville, palazzi e chiese di epoca più antica, conferendo ancora oggi a questi edifici il piacere di una pavimentazione di sapore unico. I formati prodotti erano da cm 20×20 e 25×25 e gli esagoni da cm 20 e da cm 25. Si producevano una serie notevole di decori, tappeti e bordure. Spesso le tinte unite venivano posate a contrasto (caratteristica la margherita realizzata con l’esagono). Gli artigiani più abili riuscivano anche ad ottenere in alcuni particolari di decoro (foglie, fiori, fregi), la “marmorizzazione a spessore”; rimane inteso che non si tratta di pittura superficiale ma masse di paste colorate che sfumandosi tra di loro rendono nel tempo e al calpestio effetti inimitabili ed immutabili. Pastina is a combination of various finely ground minerals and hydraulic binder. Pastina floors, already well-known at the end of thelast century, were very popular at the end of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century due to the skill of the craftsmen who made them. Pastina floors have decorated villas, palaces and churches dating back to earlier times and give today’s visitors to these buildings the pleasure of admiring a unique type of flooring. The pieces produced measured 20×20 and 25×25 cm and included 20 and 25 cm hexagon shapes. An extensive range of decorations, carpets and edging were produced. Solid colours were often laid in contrast (a characteristic example of this is the daisy made from hexagon shapes). The most skilful craftsmen also managed to achieve “body marbling” in some decorative details (leaves, flowers, friezes); this has nothing to do with surface painting but makes use of masses of coloured pastes which are blended together to produce inimitable effects that can neither be altered by time nor by wear. Mosaico composition made to a customer’s design. grandinetti 20 Gra veneziana — il terrazzo o battuto alla veneziana è così chiamato perché nella città lagunare ha raggiunto il massimo sviluppo e splendore. Esso trova i propri antefatti in Grecia, dove i pavimenti costituiti da sassi di torrente erano disposti e cementati con calce e argilla. In seguito questo tipo di pavimentazione fu sostituito da varie tecniche tra cui l’opus signinum che in Italia era realizzato con cocciopesto e calce. I pavimenta, invece, sono fatti di calce con una tecnica e degli ingredienti simili a quelli degli intonaci. Il pavimento musivo (opus tesselatum) raggiunge la massima perfezione verso la fine dell’Impero Romano con l’avvento della Cristianizzazione. È merito degli artigiani friulani invece l’aver rivalutato la pavimentazione ornamentale fatta di ciottoli raccolti sul greto dei fiumi, e da loro portata a Venezia. Nel XX secolo con l’avvento del cemento e delle macchine vibro/presse e successivamente con la lavorazione artigianale in laboratorio nasce una sorta di “prefabbricazione” del terrazzo, ottimizzato in durezza ed estetica. It finds its antecedent in Greece where the floors made of brook stones were laid and cemented with lime and clay. Later this type of flooring was replaced with various other flooring techniques among which opus signinum which in Italy was made with shards and lime. The coverings, on the other hand, are made of lime using a technique and ingredients similar to plaster. Mosaic floors (opus tesselatum) reached their absolute perfection towards the end of the Roman Empire with the coming of Christianization. Credit is due to the craftsmen of Friuli for having reinvented ornamental flooring made of pebbles collected from river banks and brought to Venice. In the XX century, the advent of cement and vibrating/pressing machines and later artisanal laboratory work brought forth a sort of “prefabricated” terrace optimised in hardness and aesthetics. Romanorum opus musivum OMA6. grandinetti 24 Romanorum opus musivum — In Olimpia il “pronao” del tempio classico (465 a.C.) ha un piano decorato con sassi di torrente, una specie di “terrazzo veneziano”. Il procedimento greco dei pavimenti cementati con calce fu perfezionato in Italia. Con l’evoluzione di queste “opere pazienti”, nei secoli, si prende coscienza che le stesse non sono e non potranno mai essere “la pittura per l’eternità” sebbene certi commessi dell’opificio delle pietre dure di Firenze hanno una tale raffinatezza che interpretano l’ordine pittorico. La collocazione del pavimento Grandinetti qui presentata è “insolita” per il valore che assume in qualsiasi tipo di arredamento, sia esso minimalista o antico, sobrio o moderno. Floor 113 bianco arabescato, bordura MG27. grandinetti 26 Mosaici — Abili artigiani cementisti di inizio XX secolo, affogando cubetti di marmo negli impasti di cemento e graniglia, componevano splendidi manufatti ornamentati. Forse si ispiravano ai capolavori dei pavimenti alla veneziana. A San Severino Marche ed a Matelica, nella provincia di Macerata, scuole professionali per cementisti, insegnavano ai giovani dell’epoca queste tecniche. Il mosaico graniglia non ha avuto una larga diffusione, perché, all’epoca, fu sovrastato dai tradizionali decori in graniglia (anche allora più economici e disponibili) che la Grandinetti produce sin dal 1902. Da qualche anno, grazie alla riscoperta di questo gusto e al nostro ostinato proporre cose del passato, eterne e rivisitabili in arredi anche moderni, come Grandinetti, abbiamo voluto recuperare questo patrimonio culturale che si stava perdendo. Mosaics chipping bases did not achieve widespread popularity because, at the time, they were overshadowed by traditional decorated chipping systems (cheaper and more readily available), which Grandinetti began producing in 1902. Questa eccezionale possibilità ha reso nel passato e rende tuttora la graniglia una materia versatile, compatto ed indistruttibile. A questo vanno aggiunte possibilità estetiche infinite grazie alla combinazione di rocce di varia natura ed all’ausilio degli ossidi che consentono di eseguire svariati tipi di “semine” anche per le più complesse esigenze. Per queste caratteristiche, per la semplicità di utilizzo e l’aspetto estremamente gradevole la graniglia, nell’ambito dei materiali storicizzati, è schiva dai flussi degli avvicendamenti frutto delle mode temporanee. Grandinetti che produce graniglie da più di un secolo esprime il suo sapere in oggetti per l’arredamento della casa nell’utilizzo comune giornaliero. Grazie a queste caratteristiche, unite ad una straordinaria resistenza, poco dopo l’ingresso sul mercato questi prodotti si affermarono come “la soluzione” per il pavimento.
