Research Activity 2013 - 2015 LHCb Experiment, CERN, 1211 Geneve, Switzerland. Main purpose of this experiment is to study CP violation and rare decays of hadrons containing b and c quarks. The detector is a single-arm forward spectrometer. 2011 - 2012 1994 - present SuperB, Cabibbo Lab, Tor Vergata (Roma), Italy . Flavor physics at an e+ e− asymmetric energy collider with extremely high targeted luminosity. Development of the silicon vertex tracker. SuperB project has been closed in 2012 for insufficient financial support from Italy and from the other partecipating countries. BaBar Experiment , SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Stanford (CA, USA) . Principal Investigator of the Milan group in the BaBar experiment at the PEP-II e+ e− asymmetric energy collider of SLAC. Responsible person of the High Density Interconnects and Tails of the Silicon Vertex Tracker. • T +39 02 503 17373 • B [email protected] BaBar main scientific results: Observation of CP violation in B meson system, observation of many rare B decays, discovery of unpredicted new particles, evidence for mixing in D meson system, discovery of the bottomonium ground state, observation of time reversal violation in the B 0 system. BaBar has been nominated by name in the 2008 Nobel press-release (http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/physics/laureates/2008/press.html). Highlights Observation of CP violation in B 0 → η 0 K 0 decays. Primary editor and correspondent author of the observation of CP violation in B 0 → η 0 K 0 decays (Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 031801 (2007)). This is the first observation of CP violation in rare B decays dominated by loop diagrams. Novel measurement of the angle α of the unitary triangle of the electroweak interactions. 1992–1994 LKR Experiment, Milan, CERN. Responsible person of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) experiment LKR. Study of liquid krypton calorimetry. New prototypes and tests in Milan laboratory and on a test beam at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN, Geneva). 1987 -1992 VEPP-4M Experiment, Novosibirsk (Russia). Italian responsible person of the Scientific Collaboration between the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences" (Novosibirsk, Russia) e l’INFN ( Bologna, Milano, Pavia groups) in the VEPP-4M experiment at Novosibirsk (Russia) for the development of quasi-homogeneous liquid krypton calorimetry. Study with the SIGMA-AIAKS spectrometer of exclusive resonance production in rare decay modes. Measurement of the γ → 3π coupling constant. Highlights Investigation of the chiral anomaly γ → 3π in the pion pair production by pion in the Coulomb field. First experimental measurement of the γ → 3π coupling constant. Coherent production of 3π system induced on nuclei by incident pions of 40 GeV/c at Protvino (Moscow Region). Highlights Radial excitations of the pion. Evidence for new 0− S resonances in the π + π − π − systems (in quark model interpreted as radial excitations of the pion).
