Eurolys è una settimana di vita comune
tra ragazzi italiani ed europei che si tiene ogni anno in Italia tra la fine di giugno e l’inizio di luglio. Per i primi giorni,
i giovani ospiti stranieri soggiornano a
Rivoli e nelle altre città della zona, con
visite guidate alla scoperta di Torino e
dei suoi musei, nonché dell’hinterland;
successivamente si trasferiscono per tre
giorni al grande campo allestito tra le
montagne del Colle del Lys. Qui i ragazzi
sperimentano la condivisione degli spazi
e delle idee in un ambiente che favorisce
la comunicazione e lo spirito di collaborazione: ogni partecipante dà il proprio
contributo nell’allestimento, nella manutenzione del campo e nell’organizzazione delle attività. Accanto all’escursione
naturalistica sui sentieri partigiani, che
suscita sempre una grande emozione per
la storia che rievoca e per la bellezza dei
paesaggi della valle, vi sono interessanti
laboratori, quali teatro, musica, pittura,
poesia, ecc., ispirati ai temi della pace,
della cittadinanza e della democrazia.
Eurolys si conclude la prima domenica di
luglio con la partecipazione alla grande
manifestazione che si tiene al Colle del
Lys in ricordo dei 2024 partigiani caduti
sulle montagne torinesi nel corso della
guerra di Liberazione dal nazifascismo.

Il meeting giovanile Eurolys è giunto ormai all’ottava edizione e il Comitato Resistenza Colle del Lys, l’associazione che lo
organizza, è fiero del successo finora ottenuto, ma vuole qualcosa in più: evitare
che l’iniziativa resti fine a se stessa.
È per questo motivo che nei mesi scorsi
il Comitato ha pensato di dar vita, con la
partecipazione diretta dei ragazzi, a un
giornale che raccontasse la loro esperienza e raccogliesse le loro impressioni, in
modo da far conoscere non solo ad altri
ragazzi italiani e stranieri, ma anche alle
istituzioni italiane e delle città gemellate
le potenzialità di questo progetto, un’occasione privilegiata che promuove conoscenza, dialogo, amicizia tra ragazzi europei e li porta a riflettere sui valori della
democrazia e della pace.
In queste pagine i giovani raccontano il
periodo trascorso insieme, in particolare i giorni del campo al Colle del Lys e le
esperienze fatte, come le attività manuali
e teatrali, l’animazione musicale davanti al
fuoco, il trekking con i partigiani sui luoghi della memoria, la partecipazione alla
manifestazione del colle in ricordo dei caduti per la libertà.
Questo giornale vuole diventare una parte integrante del progetto Eurolys ed è per
questo che a questa pubblicazione è stata
data una veste internazionale: l’articolo
WHAT IS EUROLYS
the demonstration in memory of the 2024
partisans who died on the mountains of Turin
during the Liberation War from Nazi fascism.
Eurolys is an experience of common life for
Italian and European guys which takes place
in Italy every year between the end of June and
the beginning of July. During the first days, the
young guests stay in Rivoli and in the cities
around. They take part to guided tours of Turin
and its museums. Afterwards they move to the
big camp in the mountains of the Colle del Lys,
where they stay for three days.
Here the guys share space and ideas in an environment which fosters communication and
collaboration: every partaker makes his contribution to the preparation and the upkeep
of the camp and to the organisation of the
activities.
Besides the environmental trip on the tracks of
the partisans, which arouses great emotions
thanks to the history it recalls and to the beauty of the landscapes of the valley, the guys are
involved in interesting workshops, such as
theatre, music, painting, poetry and so on. The
topics of the workshops are peace, citizenship
and democracy.
Eurolys ends on the first Sunday of July with

C’EST? EUROLYS
Eurolys est une semaine de vie commune entre
des jeunes italiens et européens qui se déroule
chaque année en Italie entre la fin du mois de
juin et le début du mois de juillet. Pendant les
premiers jours, les jeunes pensionnaires séjourneront à Rivoli et dans les communes voisines avec des visites guidées à la découverte
de Turin et de ses musées, ainsi que de l’arrière-pays et puis ils iront pendant trois jours au
grand camp installé entre les montagnes du
Col du Lys.
Ici les jeunes expérimentent le partage des espaces et des idées dans une ambiance qui favorise la communication et l’esprit de collaboration: chaque participant apporte sa contribution à l’installation, le rangement du camp
et l’organisation des activités.
En plus des excursions naturalistes sur les sen-
di prima pagina “Che cos’è Euroys” è stato
tradotto nelle principali lingue europee,
mentre gli altri articoli, scritti in italiano
o nella lingua di provenienza dei ragazzi
stranieri, sono stati tradotti in inglese.
Ecco qualche assaggio di ciò che i ragazzi
hanno scritto e che troverete nelle pagine
interne. “Tutte queste esperienze – scrive
Chiara - mi hanno convinta che la mia passione sono le diverse culture, i diversi stili
di vita, insomma tutto ciò che è diverso
da me.” Ed Eleonora aggiunge: “L’Eurolys
deve appartenere ai giovani, che si stanno formando e hanno bisogno di scambio
culturale per la loro crescita, perché saranno dei cittadini con qualcosa in più, delle
persone con una visione più ampia, senza
confini”.
Scrive invece, direttamente in italiano, una
giovane ragazza rumena, Iulia Anamaria:
“All’inizio, pensavo che sarebbe stato soltanto un banale viaggio in Italia: la realtà
è stata, però, tutt’altra. Abbiamo imparato
a conoscerci meglio in tutta la nostra diversità, ma anche a conoscere dei tratti
importanti della storia italiana”.
E Massimo, il giovane coordinatore del
gruppo, conclude: “Sono certo che questi ragazzi non si dimenticheranno di una
così singolare esperienza: nei loro discorsi
è chiara la speranza di rivedersi, perché
Eurolys non finisce, ma continua nel cuore
di ognuno di noi”.

Il programma della nostra associazione, il Comitato Resistenza Colle del Lys, è da sempre rivolto ai giovani per
trasmettere loro quei valori fondamentali, quali la democrazia, la libertà, la solidarietà, che sono alla base della
convivenza civile.
Questa è la vera sfida: creare le condizioni per assicurare
alla ‘nostra’ Europa una generazione di giovani che sappiano agire nel futuro anche attraverso la conoscenza e
le testimonianze del passato.
Il progetto Eurolys va in questa direzione. Durante l’esperienza del ‘campo’ che si svolge ogni anno al Colle del
Lys, le richieste formative dei ragazzi partecipanti sono
assecondate non solo attraverso il dialogo e il confronto,
ma soprattutto attraverso la scoperta e l’incontro con un
territorio e una storia altamente significativi.
Per questo motivo il giornale Eurolys vuole valorizzare
una delle esperienze più importanti e originali che la nostra associazione sta portando avanti.

Hier lernen die Jugendlichen, unter den speziellen Bedingungen des Camps und der natürlichen Umgebung miteinander auszukommen.
Die Umgebung ihrerseits fördert Kommunikation und Kooperation: Alle Teilnehmer/innen
beteiligen sich an der Vorbereitung und Aufrechterhaltung des Camps und der Organisation der Aktivitäten.
Neben den Wanderungen auf den Pfaden der
Partisanen, die grosse Gefühle in Anbetracht
der Geschichte und der Schönheit der Landschaft hevorrufen, nehmen die Jugendlichen
an interessanten Workshops – z. B. in den Bereichen Theater, Musik, Malerei, Literatur – teil.
Die inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte der Workshops
sind Friede, Bürgerschaft und Demokratie.
Eurolys endet am ersten Sonntag im Juli mit
einer Demonstration im Gedenken an die
2024 Partisanen, die in den Bergen von Turin
während des Befreungskrieges gegen den Nazifaschismus starben.

chicos italianos y europeos, que se desarrolla
cada año en Italia entre finales de junio y principio de julio. Durante los primeros días, los
jóvenes son hospedados en los pueblos organizadores, o sea Rivoli y sus alrededores para
realizar unas visitas guiadas a la ciudad de Turín, sus museos y cercanías. Después, se trasladan durante tres días al gran campo acondicionado entre las montañas de Col de Lys.
Aquí los jóvenes comparten los espacios y las
ideas en un entorno que favorece la comunicación y el espíritu de colaboración: cada
participante contribuye en la preparación, el
mantenimiento del campo y en la organización de las actividades.
Además de la excursión por las sendas partisanas que siempre suscitan una gran emoción
por la historia que recuerda y por la belleza de
los paisajes del valle, hay también interesantes actividades como teatro, música, pintura,
poesía, etc. inspirados en los temas de la paz,
de la ciudadanía y de la democracia.
Eurolys se concluye el primer domingo de julio
con la participación en el gran encuentro que
tiene lugar en el Col de Lys en recuerdo de los
2024 partisanos abatidos sobre las montañas
turineses en el curso de la guerra de Liberación
del nazifascismo.

The days we spent at the Colle del Lys for Eurolys were full of activities, through which we
experienced – together with guys coming
from different parts of Europe – the places
of important and cruel moments of the history of our country and of the liberation from
Fascism.
First of all, we read some stories of partisans

Prima di tutte, l’attività di lettura di
alcuni racconti partigiani, racchiusi in
un libro in cui sono molte le verità che
ognuno dovrebbe sapere. In queste
brevi storie i ‘ragazzi’ partigiani come
‘Guido’ e ‘Lupo’ hanno descritto la loro
gioventù durante la guerra di Liberazione. In seguito, grazie all’aiuto dei
responsabili dell’Eurolys, abbiamo
animato alcune scene, con lo scopo
di far rivivere alcuni momenti della
seconda guerra mondiale e di rappresentare, seppure con difficoltà, le sofferenze partigiane in una rappresentazione svolta la sera attorno al fuoco
dell’accampamento.
Il secondo giorno, una lunga passeggiata lungo i sentieri partigiani ci ha
svegliato e portato alla scoperta di
antiche vie mulattiere, di paesaggi
unici e ancora vivi di voglia di libertà.
Siamo stati accompagnati da Vittorio,
un amante della natura e delle montagne piemontesi.
Nel pomeriggio il Colle del Lys si è colorato grazie all’aiuto di Marco e Davide, due artisti di quello che conoscia-

Thanks to the help of the collaborators of the
Eurolys, we made some scenes with the aim
of living again some moments of the Second
World War and to represent partisan pain,
even if it was very difficult. We made all this
one night around a fire in the camp.
The second day we made a long walk through
the partisan tracks. This led us to the discovery of old mule tracks and of unique landscapes. We were led by Vittorio, a nature and
Piedmontese mountains lover.
In the afternoon the Colle del Lys became
coloured thanks to the help of Marco and Davide, two artists of murals. Together with them
we made a big mural on a panel, in which the
idea of freedom and union are shown in the
mo come murales. Insieme abbiamo
creato un grande murales su pannelli,
in cui l’idea di libertà e unione rivive
con le figure di un partigiano in vedetta che si trasforma, grazie alla presenza di un grande drappo con i colori della pace, nei monumenti simbolo
dell’Europa unita, le torri di pace che
cercano, come i partigiani in battaglia,
di toccare il cielo della libertà.
La sera abbiamo vissuto i ritmi coinvolgenti dei balli occitani, in cui siamo
stati chiamati ad animare le danze tipiche, seguiti dal grande concerto di
Cisco, in cui nessuno ha potuto non
sentire la voglia di essere tutti uniti
per la libertà.
La domenica, il giorno della manifestazione ufficiale del Colle del Lys, abbiamo assistito alle cerimonie in ricordo dei 2024 caduti durante la seconda
guerra e alla firma del grande patto di
unione delle quattro valli torinesi.
Nessuno si dimenticherà dell’importanza di uomini, più o meno della
nostra età, che oltre sessant’anni fa
hanno saputo affrontare la paura e
l’angoscia di giorni di battaglia al Colle del Lys per riconquistare la libertà.

peace try to touch the sky of freedom, just like
partisans during the war.
During the night we danced in the notes of
an Occitan dance. After that we attended
the concert of Cisco, during which everyone
wished to feel all united for freedom.
On Sunday, the day of the official event at
the Colle del Lys, we attended the ceremony
in the memory of the 2024 fallen partisans of
the Second World War and the signing of the
Union Treaty of the four Piedmontese valleys.
Nobody will ever forget the importance of
those men who sixty years ago faced the
fear and the anguish of days of battles at the
Colle del Lys with the aim of gaining back
freedom.

LA COMUNICACIÒN ES
LA BASE DE LA CONVIVENCIA
Es esto lo que hemos experimentado día a día con cuatro lenguas distintas
di Montse, Ferran e Oriol
El poder de la comunicación es la base
de la convivencia, o almenos es esto lo
que hemos experimentado. El hecho
de estar conviviendo día a día con cuatro lenguas distintas ha hecho encontrar un punto de unión entre europeos
y acentuar nuestros lazos.
El primer día en la Colle del Lys nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y conocimos
a un partizano que luchó en tal montaña años atrás. Sus anécdotas bélicas
conmovieron a cada uno de nosotros,
con las cuales representamos fragmentos de la guerra en la que luchó.
Después de cenar nos reunimos en la
hoguera que nosotros mismos preparamos y disfrutamos de actuaciones,
música y del cielo que nos brindaba la
noche.
Al levantarnos el sábado por la mañana hicimos dos grupos, uno de ellos
hizo una ruta por la montaña mientras
el otro realizaba un mural con ayuda
de dos dibujantes excelentes. Éste
mostraba los países representantes
de Eurolys y su relación con la guerra
entre partisanos y fascistas. El dibujo
quedó realmente bien y su mensaje
fue transmitido a la gente que acudió
el domingo al gran evento conmemorativo. Más tarde, los bailes occitanos y
un concierto acabaron con nuestra última noche en el campamento.
Cada momento pasado en estos últimos días ha servido de reflexión sobre
los conflictos ocurridos anteriormente
en Europa, y la gran conclusión a la que
hemos llegado es que nosotros – los jóvenes- somos la nueva Europa, la que
sustituye la antigua y aporta un mundo
mejor.
Por último, queremos agradecer al Comité de la Resistencia y a cada una de
las personas que ha hecho posible una
estancia más que acogedora en la Colle
del Lys.
Viva l’Europa unita!

COMMUNICATION IS
AT THE BASIS OF LIFE

This is what we experienced everyday living
with people who spoke different languages.
We experienced that communication is at the basis of
life. Living everyday with people who spoke different
languages has brought us to find a point of contact
among European people and has strengthened our
ties.
On the first day at the Colle del Lys, which was a Friday,
we were given a warm welcome and we met a partisan
who fought in that mountain many years ago. What he
told us touched us very much and let us know something of the war. After dinner we gathered around the
fire, which we had prepared, and we enjoyed mime, music and the starry sky.
On Saturday morning, when we woke up, we were divided into two groups. One of the two groups went on
a trip on the mountain, whereas the other one, thanks
to the help of some mural painters, made a mural rep-
resenting the European countries which participated
to Eurolys and their relationship with the war between
partisans and fascists. The mural was very nice and it
was shown to the people who took part to the demonstration on Sunday. Our last night at the camp was
brightened up by Occitan ballets and by a concert.
During these days we thought over the wars in Europe
and we reached the conclusion that we – young people
– are the new Europe, which replaces the old one and
makes a better world.
In the end, we would like to thank the Resistance Committee and every single person who has made this welcoming stay at the Colle del Lys possible.

Resistenza, antifascismo, europeismo: ecco che cosa trova
uno studente che viene con noi al Colle del Lys

Resistenza e antifascismo, europeismo
e antifascismo... Ecco cosa trova uno
studente al Colle del Lys, abituato alle
regole didattiche della scuola superiore e inferiore che insegnano poco del
mondo. Lì apprendi i valori di fratellanza e giustizia e soprattutto l’amore tra
i popoli. Il meeting del Colle del Lys è
una vera e propria esperienza di vita
che lascia un solco così profondo che
è quasi impossibile non vantarsi poi, in
giro per l’Europa, di averne preso parte. Sono stata per un po’ via da Rivoli,
nella bella capitale Berlino e assicuro
che una buona fetta di russi, tedeschi,
cechi, francesi, danesi e spagnoli sanno dov’è il Colle del Lys e in particolare
sanno tutto sul progetto Eurolys reagendo con stupore e invidia per coloro
a cui è concessa un’esperienza simile.
L’Eurolys ha la forma di un campeggio,
tendoni militari, giovani, una squadra
affiatata di cuochi, volontari, musicisti
e, soprattutto, l’Europa. S’incontra finalmente, concretamente, la vecchia
Europa con i suoi giovani così uguali
tra di loro e così diversi. Sono per lo più
francesi, romeni, spagnoli, sloveni, tedeschi e, ovviamente, italiani.
Ho partecipato al meeting del Colle del
Lys per tre anni di fila, gli ultimi anni
del liceo, anche l’ultimo, nonostante
l’esame di Stato di mezzo: non avrei
mai rinunciato a quelle serate intorno

FOR ME

Resistance and Antifascism, Europeanism and Antifascism…. This is what
a student who is used to primary and
secondary school rules – which teach
them few things about the world –
finds at the Colle del Lys
There you learn values such as brotherhood and justice, but most of all love among
peoples.
The meeting at the Colle del Lys is a real life
experience which leaves such a deep mark,
that it is almost impossible not to be proud
of having been part of it. I have been far from
al fuoco e allo spirito di libertà che solo
all’Eurolys si può respirare.
Quell’esperienza è esattamente uno di
quei progetti utili che si dovrebbero
incentivare, innovare ogni anno senza
dubbi, chiedendo ai ragazzi la loro opinione e, soprattutto, tenendola in considerazione. Perché l’Eurolys deve appartenere a quei giovani, che si stanno
formando e hanno bisogno di scambio
culturale per la loro crescita, perché saranno dei cittadini con qualcosa in più,
dei futuri cittadini con una visione più
ampia, senza confini.
È stata proprio questa esperienza che
mi ha spinto ad abbandonare, per
qualche tempo, la bella Rivoli per trasferirmi all’estero. Grazie Eurolys!

ringraziamento a Carlo Mastri, uno di
quelli che ha creduto nel progetto e ne
ha sempre incentivato la realizzazione
con la sua forza d’animo. L’ho incontrato la prima volta a scuola: era venuto a
parlarci di antifascismo e Resistenza e
dopo la conferenza mi aveva preso sotto braccio e parlato del suo progetto.
Io ero così felice di poter condividere
quel momento con lui perché di lui
ammiravo la determinazione. Pensai:
‘Quest’uomo è veramente interessato
a quello che dico, mi ascolta’.
Un altro ringraziamento al partigiano
Guido Carbi, una forza della natura,
partigiano a cui voglio molto bene e
che ha sempre fedelmente ogni hanno
ripercorso con i ragazzi i sentieri sulle
montagne. Ma i ringraziamenti sono
così tanti che temo di dimenticare
qualcuno, allora voglio ricordare a voce
alta che l’Eurolys è ognuno di noi, basta
solo crederci e volerlo.
Confido nel fatto che non si fermi, vada
avanti sempre più forte nel tempo. Io ci
sono.
Rivoli for a long time, I have been living in
Berlin, and I can tell you that many Russian,
German, Czech, French, Danish and Spanish people know where the Colle del Lys is. In
particular they know everything about the
Eurolys project and they are amazed and envious of the people who can take part in such
an experience.
Eurolys is campsite-shaped, there are military
tents, young people, a close team of cooks,
volunteers, musicians and most of all Europe.
Here the old Europe, with his young people, so
similar but meanwhile so different between
each other meet.
They are especially French, Romanian, Spanish, Slovenian, German and, obviously, Italian.
I have been taking part in the meetings of the
Colle del Lys for three years, the last three years
of the high school, including the fifth year despite the leaving examination: I couldn’t give
up the nights around a fire and the sense of
freedom you can only feel at the Eurolys.
That experience is one of those useful projects
we should boost and renew every year, ask-
ing young people their opinion and, most of
all, taking them into consideration. Eurolys
should be of those young people who are
growing and need cultural exchanges for
their growth, because they will be citizens
with something more, citizens with a wider vision, without boundaries.
Thanks to this experience I left for some time
the beautiful Rivoli in order to move abroad.

I would like to thank Mr. Carlo Mastri, one of
those who has always believed in the project and has always boosted its achievement
with his fortitude. I met him for the first time
at school: he came there to talk to us about
Antifascism and Resistance. After the lecture
he came to me and told me about his project.
I was very happy to share that moment with
him, because I admired his determination. I
thought: “This man is really interested in what
I’m saying, he is listening to me”.
I also want to thank Mr. Guido Carbi, a partisan I really love, who has retraced every year
the tracks on the mountains with the guys. I

In France too, as in Italy, the Republic rules
the European Union life. The President of the
Republic is elected every five years: at the moment there is Nicolas Sarkozy, who lives at the
Elisée. The assembly is made of the deputies
and lies near Place de la Concorde, whereas
the Senate lies in Palais Bourbon, in the Lux-

Eurolys nasce dall’entusiasmo dei membri del Comitato Resistenza Colle
del Lys che da anni condividono un grande e ambizioso progetto: riunire
giovani di tutto il mondo per costruire l’amicizia e la pace impegnandosi
in un aperto confronto sulle questioni del nostro tempo e della storia più
recente.
L’Eurolys, in sintonia con le raccomandazioni del Consiglio d’Europa, ha
costantemente assecondato le necessità formative dei giovani partecipanti; inoltre il Colle del Lys, con la suggestione dei suoi stupendi paesaggi
e la forza rievocativa del suo passato, è la cornice ideale per la condivisione
delle idee e delle speranze nelle sfumature e nell’intreccio di molteplici
lingue.
Nei giorni di permanenza al campo, i giovani ospiti possono partecipare a
escursioni guidate e a laboratori ispirati ai temi della pace, della cittadinanza e della democrazia.
L’Eurolys si avvale inoltre della presenza dell’Ecomuseo, struttura ubicata
proprio al Colle del Lys, che già ospita la mostra permanente sulla Resistenza e che presto ospiterà un moderno laboratorio sperimentale multimediale.
Il giornale Eurolys, tradotto anche in lingua inglese, interamente dedicato
all’esperienza del campo, oltre ad essere un’iniziativa di dialogo e di apertura al mondo della scuola e delle istituzioni, rappresenta uno strumento
che i giovani partecipanti potranno utilizzare per essere protagonisti, raccontando i propri sogni e costruire insieme valori, idee, progetti.

Gathering young people from all
over the world for a comparison
on nowadays matters
Eurolys has come into being thanks to
the enthusiasm of the Resistance Committee Colle del Lys’ members, who have
been working at an ambitious project
for many years: gathering young people
from all over the world in order to build
friendship and peace and committing in
an open dialogue concerning nowadays
matters and problems of the most recent
history.
Eurolys, which is in tune with the recommendations of the Council of Europe,
has always supported the needs of the
young partakers. Moreover, the Colle del
Lys is the ideal place where young people
can share ideas and hopes, thanks to its
wonderful landscape and to its strength
to recall past.
During the days at the camp, the young
participants can take part to guided
tours and to workshops inspired by topics like peace, citizenship and democracy.
Eurolys makes use of the “Ecomuseo”, a
building set at the Colle del Lys, which
houses the permanent exhibition on Resistance and which is going to house an
experimental multimedia workshop.
The Eurolys magazine, which is translated into English, is intended for the experience at the camp. It is also a dialogue
initiative dedicated to schools and institutions, representing a tool for young
partakers which they can use to tell their

Collegno, hanno vissuto l’esperienza di Eurolys 2008 con la voglia e la determinazione
di chi crede in un futuro senza più barriere.

dell’Europa ‘Uniti nella diversita’: diversità di
lingua, di cultura e di approccio che però,
grazie anche all’aiuto di collaboratori ed
educatori, sono state superate con la voglia
di essere non tante persone, ma un unico
gruppo: l’Eurolys.
Tra le attività che abbiamo proposto nei
giorni di permanenza in città troviamo la
visita delle città di Rivoli, Collegno e Torino,
con edifici storici, musei, mostre e concerti,
ma anche momenti di confronto per affrontare insieme il nostro futuro. Nello stesso
tempo una serie di momenti più pratici

Al colle del Lys le attività si sono incentrate
sulla guerra di Liberazione e sulla vita partigiana, per poter rivivere, insieme a chi ha
davvero affrontato quelle situazioni, le sofferenze e l’oppressione dell’occupazione tedesca durante la seconda guerra mondiale.
Sono certo che questi ragazzi non si dimenticheranno di una così singolare esperienza:
so già che alcuni di loro hanno progettato
insieme viaggi alla scoperta delle città gemellate: nei loro discorsi è chiara la speranza di rivedersi, perché Eurolys non finisce,
ma continua nel cuore di ognuno di noi.

An intense week living together
In the meeting Eurolys young people coming
from different parts of Europe have the chance
to meet and to handle with important topics
concerning the future of European countries.
This is the aim of the project.
In a week full of activities these guys had the
chance not only to meet a new country, but
also to handle with the meaning of union, trying to face new situations and new realities
with the aim of creating strong relationships.
Twelve guys coming from Germany (Ravensburg), Spain (Mollet del Valles) and France
(Montelimar) were accommodated in the
town of Rivoli and together with twelve more
Italian guys from Rivoli, Grugliasco and Collegno lived the experience of Eurolys with
the will and the determination of those who
believe in a future without boundaries. They
represented the saying of Europe “United in
diversity”: different languages, different cultures and different approaches. Thanks to
collaborators and educators these boundaries were crossed with the will of being an only
group: Eurolys.
During their stay we suggested many activities: the visit to the towns of Rivoli, Collegno
and Turin, the visit to historic buildings, museums and exhibitions, the participation to concerts and moments of comparison with the
aim of facing together our future. Meanwhile
we proposed practical activities, such as the
“Urban Life” workshop at the Castle of Rivoli
and the walk in the adventure park Alberando
in Rivoli.
At the Colle del Lys we focused our attention
on the Liberation war and on the partisan life.
Together with the people who faced those
situations, we lived again the pain and the
oppression of the German occupation during
the Second World War.
I am sure that these guys will never forget this
experience: I know that some of them have already planned trips to twin towns. They show
their wish to see each other again, because
Eurolys never stops, but goes on in the heart of
each of us. Eurolys, a wonderful experience.

EUROLYS: UN RICORDO
CHE TI SCALDA IL CUORE

La vita trascorsa nel liceo di Bucarest è
passata velocemente, lasciando però
tanti cari ricordi. Uno di questi ricordi
è il premio che ho vinto dopo che ho
partecipato e ottenuto il quinto posto
a livello nazionale nel concorso d’italiano. Così che assieme ad altri tre ragazzi
della mia città sono stata invitata a partecipare al progetto ‘Eurolys 2007’, che
si è svolto a Rivoli e nei dintorni a fine
giugno. Eurolys è un’occasione per giovani, ma non solo, appartenenti a paesi
diversi, d’incontrarsi e di scambiare conoscenze, informazioni culturali, commemorando I partigiani morti al Colle
del Lys. Devo dire che all’inizio, non
pensavo che sarebbe stato altro che un
banale viaggio in Italia: la realtà è stata
però tutt’altra. Assieme a noi, rappresentanti della Romania, sono venuti
anche ragazzi dalla Francia, dalla Slovenia, dalla Spagna, dalla Germania e
ovviamente tanti ragazzi italiani. Perciò
è stata un’esperienza molto bella, imparando a conoscersi meglio in tutta la
nostra diversità, ma anche a conoscere
dei tratti importanti della storia italiana.
I giorni trascorsi a Rivoli sono stati giorni pieni di attività culturali, quali visitare
il museo del cinema a Torino, il duomo
di Torino, diversi parchi e il Castello di
Rivoli. Abbiamo avuto il privilegio di
partecipare ad un concerto in nostro
onore, organizzato da giovani italiani,
dopo una deliziosa cena che ci ha introdotti nella cucina torinese. Non potrei
mai dimenticare, anche dei giorni trascorsi sulla montagna del Colle del Lys,
dove si sono riunite a noi ancora più
persone, dove abbiamo partecipato a
dei laboratori con attività educative e
culturali: per dire, io ho partecipato al
laboratorio di scrittura, dove una poetessa brasiliana che vive da tanti anni in
Italia, è stata invitata a darci dei consigli
e ad esporre la sua profonda opinione
in quello che riguarda il mondo della
poesia e della letteratura. Però siccome
sono una furbetta, ho fatto parte anche
del gruppo del laboratorio di teatro
dove un regista italiano ci ha fatto vedere che, nonostante parlassimo lingue

diverse, potevamo creare una scenetta
di teatro, utilizzando la mimica e una
musica adeguata che si rapportava a
noi giovani. Oltrettuto, al Colle del Lys
abbiamo potuto cantare assieme ai
boys scout, attorno a un fuoco gigantesco che riscaldava le diverse storie
di diverse culture e nazionalità. Infine,
vorrei ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno reso quest’esperienza possibile. Auguro a tutti i giovani di questo mondo
di partecipare ad un avvenimento tale
almeno per una volta nelle loro vite: li
posso assicurare che torneranno a casa
guardando certi aspetti della vita diversamente, con un bagaglio gigantesco di
conoscenze e informazioni, ma anche
con cari ricordi che sempre renderanno
caldo il loro cuore.
Iulia Anamaria Alexandru è una ragazza rumena di ventidue anni, studentessa all’università di Bucarest di lingue e letterature
straniere, tra cui arabo e russo, che conosce
la nostra lingua e ha scritto questo articolo
direttamente in italiano.

L’adolescenza è l’età in cui si è più
curiosi, si ha voglia di viaggiare, di
conoscere altre persone. Io mi sento
fortunata perché quest’anno sto dando sfogo a queste mie passioni!
La prima esperienza è stata ospitare
una ragazza slovena per poi essere
ospitata a mia volta nel suo paese
natio. Nella settimana vissuta da ospitante e in quella vissuta da ospitata
mi sono resa conto quanto sia diversa
la lingua e il modo di vivere, di quanto
sia importante rispettare le differenze
culturali ed esaltare i pregi del paese
straniero. In Slovenia ho trovato degli
amici con un grandissimo senso di
ospitalità, che spero di rivedere un
giorno.

an ordinary trip to Italy: however…
The years at the high school of Bucuresti
passed very fast, nevertheless I still have a
lot of beloved memories. One of them is the
award I won at the national competition for
the Italian language, where I was placed fifth.
In this way, together with three lads from my
town, I was invited to be involved in the project
“Eurolys 2007”, which took place in Rivoli and
its surroundings at the end of June. Eurolys is
a chance for young people coming from different countries to meet each other and exchange cultural information, celebrating the
partisans who died at the Colle del Lys.

occhi le lacrime per i compagni caduti e per gli orrori subiti, ma ancora con
la voglia di scherzare e stare in nostra
compagnia.
La sera del concerto di Cisco (Modena City Ramblers), mentre ballavamo
tutti insieme sulle note di musiche
irlandesi, mi sono sentita anch’io una
‘ribelle della montagna’!
Tutte queste esperienze mi hanno
convinta che la mia passione sono le
diverse culture, i diversi stili di vita,
insomma tutto ciò che è diverso da
me.
Per questo ora sono qui, in Pennsylvania, a vivere un anno in questo enor-
I must confess that at the beginning I thought
it was just an ordinary trip to Italy: however,
the reality was different. Together with us,
who represented Romenia, there were also
lads from France, Slovenia, Spain, Germany
and, obviously, many Italian lads. So it was
a wonderful experience, we learned to know
each other in our diversity, and we also
learned important things of the Italian history. During the six days in Rivoli we made a
lot of activities, such as visiting the Cinema
Museum and the Cathedral in Turin, different
parks and the castle in Rivoli. We enjoyed the
privilege of attending a concert in our honour:
it was arranged by young Italian guys, after a
delicious Turinese dinner. I will never forget
the two days we spent on the mountain of
the Colle del Lys, where we took part in educational and cultural workshops: for example,
I joined in the writing workshop, where a
Brasilian poet who has been living for many
years in Italy was invited to give us pieces of
advise and to state her opinion concerning
the world of poetry and literature. However I
also took part in the theatre workshop, where
an Italian director showed us that, although
we spoke different languages, we could make
a scene using mimicry and the right music.

Moreover, at the Colle del Lys we sang
with the boy scouts around a huge fire
and we told stories of different cultures and
nationalities. In the end I would like to thank
all the people who made this experience possible. I wish all the young people in the world
to be involved in such an experience at least
once in their life: I am sure that when they go
back home they will look at certain aspects
of their life in a different way. Their store of
knowledge would be bigger and bigger and
they would also have beloved memories to
warm up their heart.

FOREIGN COUNTRIES
A letter of Chiara Ruzzier
from Pennsylvania
I am interested in foreign cultures, foreign
lifestyles and in all that is different from me.
During the adolescence we are very curious,
we want to travel and meet people. I think I
am lucky because this year I am pouring out
my passions!
My first experience was playing host to a
Slovenian girl, who then played host to me
in her native country. Both in the week as a
host and in the one as a guest I realized how
different the language and the lifestyles are
and how it is important to respect the cultural differences. In Slovenia I found hospitable fiends, and I hope to see them again
one day.
My second experience was the meeting at the
Colle del Lys… three intense days spent chatting in English and French with guys coming
from different countries and nights sleeping
in tent. There were the great partisans who,
a bit humbly but with pride, told us their
heroic struggles, with tears in their eyes for
their dead companions and for the atrocities
of war. Yet they felt like joking and being with
us. The night of the concert of Cisco (Modena
City Ramblers), when we were all dancing in
the notes of Irish music, I felt “a rebel of the
mountain” too!
All these experiences convinced me that different cultures, different lifestyles and what is
different from me are my real passions. This is
why I am here in Pennsylvania now, living for
a year in such a huge country like America.
The United States hide some aspects you can
only discover living here and adopting the
American lifestyle, appreciating its values
and learning that America is not only made
of fast foods and big cars.
Here I found an affectionate family and wonderful friends. Despite of some problems in
the comprehension of the language, I love
being here. It’s like l am living in a dream…
please, don’t wake me up!

The programme of our organization, the “Resistance Committee Colle del Lys”, has always
been addressed to young people, in order to
hand down those important values, such as
democracy, freedom and solidarity, which are
at the basis of civil life.
This is the real challenge: creating the right
conditions to make sure that “our” Europe
will be provided with a generation of young
people who can face the future thanks to the
knowledge of history.
This is the aim of the Eurolys project. During
the experience of the “camp”, we foster dialogue and comparison, and especially the discovery of important places and history.
For this reason the Eurolys magazine has the
goal of enhancing one of the most important
and original experiences promoted by our association.

MARK

Responsible for the Eurolys magazine
The Resistance Committee Colle del Lys, the
association which organizes Eurolys, is proud
of the success achieved thanks to this event,
which has taken place for thirteen years. It now
wants something more: avoiding that the initiative is isolated.
That’s the reason why in the latest months the
Committee has decided to bring a magazine
into being thanks to the help of the guys. The
magazine has the aim of telling the experience and the impressions of the guys, so that
not only other Italians and foreigners but also
Italian and twin-town institutions can have
the chance to get to know what this project is
able to do. This is an occasion which promotes
knowledge, dialogue, friendship among European guys and brings them to think about values such as democracy and peace.
In the magazine the guys tell the period they
spent together, in particular the days they
spent at the camp at the Colle del Lys and their
experiences: manual and theatre activities,
music before the fire, trekking with the parti-
sans on the tracks of memory, demonstration
in memory of the partisans who died for freedom.
The goal of the magazine is that of being an
integral part of the Eurolys project. That’s the
reason why this is an international edition:
the articles on the front page were translated
into the main European languages, whereas
the other articles – which were written in the
mother tongue of the guys – were translated
into English.
Here is a preview of what the guys wrote, you
will find them in the next pages. Chiara says: “
All these experiences convinced me that different cultures, different lifestyles and what is different from me are my real passions”. According
to Eleonora “Eurolys should be of those young
people who are growing and need cultural exchanges for their growth, because they will be
citizens with something more, citizens with a
wider vision, without boundaries”.
A young Romanian girl, Iulia Anamaria, writes
in Italian: “At the beginning I thought it was just

Massimo, the young coordinator of the group,
says: “I am sure that these guys will never forget this experience: they show their wish to see
each other again, because Eurolys never stops,
but goes on in the heart of each of us”.
