Sacred Heart Parish Family IV DOMENICA DEL TEMPO ORDINARIO 2 303 Paris Street, East Boston, MA 02128 FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 1, 2015 A note from Fr. Wayne . . . The Deacon’s Desk . . . Secrets of the Rosary On Friday, February 6th at 6:00 p.m., we will explore Saint Louis De Monfort’s Secrets of the Rosary. At the end of six weeks we will come to a renewed love and a deeper understanding of this devotion. On Friday, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the five-alarm fire that devastated our beloved Church. I can say in complete and utter honesty that yes the Church building was destroyed, but the spirit that makes Sacred Heart a blessed place continued on. No fire, frigid temperatures, nor great adversity could or will ever dampen the spirit that makes us a vibrant and loving parish family. I am proud and honored to have been the pastor of this parish for the past twelve years and I truly look forward to the many more years that I will be here to serve and love all of you. Let us together pledge to continue the work of those who have gone before us; those who had built this new Church building. Our faith is in Christ and as He rose from the dead, so too, did this parish rise from the ashes of a burned Church. We will always be rooted in Christ and we will always strive to be the sons and daughters God has called us to be. May God continue to bless our family. Who is Saint Louis De Monfort? Confessor Marian devotee, and founder of the Sisters of Divine Wisdom. He was born Louis Maie Grignon in Montfort, France, in 1673. Educated at Rennes, he was ordained there in 1700, becoming a chaplain in a hospital in Poitiers. His congregation, also called the Daughters of Divine Wisdom, started there. As his missions and sermons raised complaints, Louis went to Rome, where Pope Clement XI appointed him as a missionary apostolic. Louis is famous for fostering devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary. In 1715, he also founded the Missionaries of the Company of Mary. His True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin remains popular. Louis died at Saint-Laurent-sur-Sevre. He was canonized in 1947. Parish Mission Statement Our parish family seeks to know God by active participation in the Sacraments and spiritual programs; to love God by the daily actions of our lives, to serve God by reaching out and providing for the spiritual and physical needs of our brothers and sisters; and to make faithful disciples of all in our parish family. Sei venuto a rovinarci? Verbum Domini IV DOMENICA DEL TEMPO ORDINARIO Verbum Domini Deo Gratias Laus Tibi, Christe SALMO RESPONSORIALE ASCOLTATE OGGI LA VOCE DEL SIGNORE. Sacred Heart Parish Family 4 303 Paris Street, East Boston, MA 02128 FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 1, 2015 IV DOMENICA DEL TEMPO ORDINARIO COMUNIONE: Inni e canti sciogliamo, o fedeli, Al divino Eucaristico Re Egli, ascoso nei mistici veli, Cibo all’alma fedele si diè. FINALE : Lodate Dio, uno e trino Signore, Lodate Dio, meta e primio dei buoni; Cantate a lui, sorgente d’ogni bontà Per tutti i secoli. Amen. L’Angelus V. L’Angelo del Signore portò l’annunzio a Maria; R. Ed ella concepì per opera dello Spirito Santo. OFFERTORIO Ave Maria . . . Rit. Al tuo santo altar Mi appresso, O Signor, Mia gioia e mio amor. V. Eccomi, sono la serva del Signore. R. Si compia in me la tua parola. Rit. V. E il Verbo si fece carne. R. E venne ad abitare in mezzo a noi. Ave Maria . . . Ave Maria . . . Sacred Heart Parish Family 5 303 Paris Street, East Boston, MA 02128 FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 1, 2015 IV DOMENICA DEL TEMPO ORDINARIO Sacred Heart Parish Book Club Join us Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the rectory. We will be reading together a selection from the Old Testament. Come and join us explore many of the fascinating stories and people of the Old Testament. It will not disappoint! Our Moral Life In Christ The Didache Series - Midwest Theological Forum The Natural Law We know the Natural Law through human reason. On some fundamental level, everyone grasps the first principle of the Natural Law, which is to do good and avoid evil. Everyone understands that one should not do to others what one does not want done to oneself. (I should not be a bully because I do not want to be bullied). Everyone also understands that a good end does not justify a bad means (To pay my school tuition, I should not rob a bank). However, the Natural Law gets complicated because the rule of conduct for us concerns the whole of human nature. This whole human nature includes soul and body, our social nature, and our vocation to be with God. Next week some examples of this complexity.
