A school transforms into a Museum
Preserving Italian heritage: recovered artefacts on display from 9 March to 30 April 2017 at Rome
International School
RESCUING OUR PAST TO BUILD OUR FUTURE
Following the success of the “Pop Icons” exhibition, Rome International School – owned by the prestigious
LUISS University – in collaboration with MiBACT and the Comando Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio Culturale
will host a new cultural event. Throughout March and April, 75 archaeological items, recovered by this
special branch of the Carabinieri, will finally be accessible to the public starting with the school’s 500
students and their families, representing 50 nationalities.
The aim of the exhibition is to build a bridge between the past and the future and raise awareness of the
complexity, diversity and excellence of Italian heritage and the need to preserve it, avoiding loss and theft.
For lovers of art and culture, this truly is a unique opportunity. Among the recovered works: an Etruscan
terracotta sarcophagus illegally exported to Geneva; various kraters depicting mythological scenes and a
large Apulian krater, seized in Corsica, that will be placed at the entrance of the school ‘welcoming’ visitors.
A specific installation dedicated to the ‘ideal armour’, will include ancient suits of armour and weapons that
originate from different areas in Italy, between the 5th and 6th centuries B.C. Rome International School is
sponsoring the restoration of these items.
Ancient treasures will be on display in the ultra modern setting of the school’s campus; the past and
the future will come together to spread and defend universal values of respect, protection, legality.
A preview of the exhibition will be open to the press on Thursday 9 March from 09.30. This will be
followed by the opening ceremony involving Commander Fabrizio Parrulli, Comando Carabinieri Tutela
Patrimonio Culturale; Director General of LUISS Guido Carli University, Giovanni Lo Storto, Scientific
Director of the exhibition, Roberto Di Paola; guests from MiBACT and the national and international
community.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday to Friday (free entrance upon reservation),
between 08.30 and 18.00 and during the weekends from 10.00 to 20.00.

Un patrimonio nascosto e recuperato sarà esposto dal 9 MARZO al 30 APRILE 2017 alla
Rome International School
RECUPERARE IL PASSATO PER AVERE UN FUTURO
Dopo il successo della mostra “Pop Icons”, la Rome International School (RIS) - di proprietà della prestigiosa
Università LUISS - in accordo con il MiBACT ed il Comando Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio Culturale, allestirà
un nuovo evento artistico: nei mesi di Marzo ed Aprile, 75 reperti archeologici, recuperati dalla speciale
unità dei Carabinieri, saranno finalmente accessibili al pubblico, a cominciare da oltre 500 studenti di 50
nazionalità diverse e le loro famiglie.
Il senso della mostra è costruire un ponte tra passato e futuro, educando le nuove generazioni alla
'bellezza' in modo che siano in grado di riconoscerla, apprezzarla e proteggerla.
Per tutti gli appassionati di arte, questa è davvero un'occasione unica: tra le opere 'salvate', un sarcofago in
terracotta di fattura etrusca, recuperato a Ginevra; vasi con rappresentazioni mitologiche e un grande cratere
apulo a mascheroni, sequestrato in Corsica, che funge da invito per i visitatori.
Un'istallazione particolare è dedicata ad una armatura ideale inedita, composta da elmo, corazza,schinieri e
lancia risalenti al V e VI secolo A.C. di cui proprio la Rome International School ha finanziato il restauro.
Antichi tesori esposti in una cornice ultra moderna - passato e futuro si fondono per diffondere e difendere
valori universali: rispetto, tutela, legalità.
La mostra sarà aperta in anteprima alla stampa Giovedì 9 Marzo dalle 9:30, seguirà la cerimonia
d’inaugurazione con la partecipazione del Generale di Brigata, Comando Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio
Culturale, Fabrizio Parrulli; del Direttore Generale LUISS Guido Carli, Giovanni Lo Storto; del Direttore
Scientifico della mostra, Roberto Di Paola, ospiti del MiBACT e della comunità nazionale e internazionale.
La mostra sarà aperta gratuitamente al pubblico dal lunedì al venerdi su prenotazione dalle 08.30 alle
18.00 e nei fine settimana dalle 10.00 alle 20.00.
