WORK EXPERIENCE Scientific Interests Theoretical analysis of the optical response of hybrid SAM/metal systems and of the electromagnetic interactions between emitters and metallic nanostructures with a plasmonic © European Union, 2002-2013 | http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu Page 2 / 9 Stefania D’Agostino Curriculum Vitae behavior (Research fields: solid-state physics, molecular plasmonics and photonics). Major Research Activities 1. Electromagnetic Modeling of metallic nanostructures in the framework of the Discrete Dipole Approximation (DDA). Some contributions to the development of the computational scheme of DDA have been done: i. an external parallel Fortran routine was written to compute the near field in an arbitrary set of points external to the scatterer (http://adda.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/misc/near_field/nearfield_manual.txt); ii. a self-consistent tool (PLASMONICode) was implemented able to include dipolar fields generated by punctual sources in the DDA calculations and to solve the problem of the metal-emitter mutual interactions. 2. Ab Initio calculations, in the scheme of Density Functional Theory (DFT), on hybrid SAM-metallic surface systems (such as methanethiol/Cu(110), methanethiolate/Au(111), biphenyl/Au(111) etc.). 3. Analysis of the optical behaviour of electro-optocal devices (Organic Light Emitting Diodes OLEDs) in the Chance-Prock-Silbey theory. 4. Quantum Electrodynamics study of quantum effects as vacuum Rabi splitting and single photon emission in systems involving strong coupling interactions between Frenkel excitons and plasmons (plexcitons).
