COMPETITION CALL FOR ADMISSION TO THE 6-YEAR SINGLE- CYCLE DEGREE
COURSE IN MEDICINE AND SURGERY OF THE “A. GEMELLI” SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
– A. Y. 2015/2016
Article 1 – Number of places available and requirements for the admission
A public competition has been opened at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore,
concerning the academic year 2015/2016, for admission to the 6-year single-cycle Degree
course in Medicine and Surgery for the following number of places:
A) n. 30 places reserved to Italian and EU citizens living anywhere and to non-EU
citizens legally living in Italy with “permesso di soggiorno / residence permit“
(Law no. 286/1998, art. 39 as modified by the Law no. 189/2002, art. 26: “È comunque
consentito l’accesso ai corsi universitari, a parità di condizioni con gli studenti italiani,
agli stranieri titolari di carta di soggiorno, ovvero di permesso di soggiorno per lavoro
subordinato o per lavoro autonomo, per motivi familiari, per asilo politico, per asilo
umanitario, o per motivi religiosi, ovvero agli stranieri regolarmente soggiornanti da
almeno un anno in possesso di titolo di studio superiore conseguito in Italia, nonché agli
stranieri, ovunque residenti, che sono titolari dei diplomi finali delle scuole italiane
all’estero o delle scuole straniere o internazionali, funzionanti in Italia o all’estero,
oggetto di intese bilaterali o di normative speciali per il riconoscimento dei titoli di studio
e soddisfino le condizioni generali richieste per l’ingresso per studio”);
B) n. 20 places reserved to non-EU citizens living abroad;
C) n. 2 places reserved to Chinese citizens participating in the “Marco Polo” Project.
The number of places available may change in accordance with the Decree of the Ministry of
Education, University and Research (M.I.U.R.), Law n. 264, August 2nd 1999.
Requirements for the admission test. May take part:

candidates enrolled at the fifth year of an Italian high school at the date of the present
Competition Call;

candidates already holders of a high school leaving certificate;

candidates enrolled at the last year of a high school abroad which awards certifications
valid for the admission to Italian University courses.

Article 2 – Date and venues of the admission test
The admission test will be computer-based and will take place on Wednesday January 28
2015 at the test-centers of the cities listed in “Annex B” of the present Competition Call.
Registration time will be communicated to the candidate via email (to the email address that
the candidate will provide in the application) 5/7 days after submitting the application.
Candidates will be divided into groups and each group will sit the test at a different time.
The University reserves the right to modify the venue arrangements, should this be required
for organizational reasons.
Furthermore the University reserves the right to arrange a paper-based session, exclusively
at the premises of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore located in the city of Rome at the
following address: Largo Francesco Vito 1 00168 Roma, due to circumstances of necessity or
of reached full capacity in the test-centers listed in “Annex B” of the present Competition Call.
Applicants will be promptly notified of any changes regarding the venue arrangements for the
admission test.
Article 3 – Application and payment: procedures and deadlines
From October 1 2014 to January 16 2015 no later than 2.00 pm (Italian GMT) applicants
must comply with the procedure indicated below:

Payment Procedure:
To finalize application all candidates must pay a contribution for public competition expenses
of €160 (one hundred and sixty).

Candidates holders of an Italian Qualification may pay through MAV payment form.
Candidates will be able to produce and print the MAV from the Request Page of the
application form until January 16 2015 at 2.00 pm (Italian GMT).

Candidates holders of an International Qualification will receive an email (to the email
address provided in the application) soon after completing the application. The €160
fee will be payable only through Credit Card. The email with the Credit Card details
will be received only by those candidates who have submitted the application within
January 16 2015 at 2.00 pm (Italian GMT)
Payment deadline: January 20 2015
The payment receipt will be required on the day of the test; make sure the payment has been
successfully registered, which validates the admission to the test. The sum of €160 paid as a
contribution for test admission expenses is not refundable at any circumstance.
Article 4 – Candidates with disabilities
In accordance with Law no.104, February 5th 1992 and as modified by the Law n. 17/1999,
and analogous laws in the respective countries of origin, candidates with disabilities must
send a ce rt if icat ion and formally request any means of support/help, to the following
email address: [email protected] no later than January 16 2015 at 2.00 pm
(Italian GMT).
In accordance with Law no. 170/2010, candidates suffering from Learning Disabilities and
Disorders must send a ce rt if icat ion and formally request any means of support/help, to
the following email address: [email protected] no later than January 16
2015 at 2.00 pm (Italian GMT) and they will have 30% additional time to complete the
admission test.
The Commission reserves the right to conduct the checks of the certifications provided and
will evaluate the requests of further support/help.
On the day of the test candidates with Learning Disabilities and Disorders are kindly
required to bring along with them the certification in the original form.
Article 5 – Candidates holders of International Qualifications
For candidates holders of International Qualifications, in case they rank among the
candidates winning the competition, enrolment is subject to prior verification of validity of the
school certificates provided and of the documentation required in the Annex “A” of the
present Competition Call, in compliance with current Italian regulation.
The above-mentioned documentation must be submitted no later than September 24 2015.
The test results of candidates holding an International Qualification will be included in the
same final ranking of candidates holding an Italian Qualification.

Article 6 – Admission
Admission to the 6-year single-cycle Degree course in Medicine and Surgery is subject
exclusively to the evaluation of the test. The minimum passing score required is 35 (thirtyfive) points out of 100 (one-hundred).
Article 7 – Admission test and contents
The official list of the testing venues will be made public on January 23 2015 on the Faculty
boards and on the website http://roma.unicatt.it.
On the day of the test, candidates must bring their payment receipt and one identification
document among the following:
 Passport (compulsory for Non-Eu candidates);
 Identity card;
 Driving licence.
Candidates with disabilities or Learning Disabilities and Disorders are kindly required to
bring along with them the certification in the original form.
It is forbidden for candidates to bring into the classroom or to the seat assigned
bags/briefcases, mobile phones, tablet, calculators, books and notebooks. Candidates
arriving at the testing venue after the completion of the registration operations will not be
allowed to sit for the test.
The test consists of 100 (one-hundred) multiple choice questions divided as follows:


95 on psycho-attitudinal subjects (logic, visual space reasoning, text understanding, attention and
precision, numerical reasoning, problem solving);
5 on religious culture and ethical culture.
Candidates have 100 minutes to complete the test.
Evaluation follows the criteria indicated below:

1 point for each correct answer;

minus 0.25 point for each wrong answer;
no points for no answer.
Article 8 – Results of the test
The results of the test will be published on the boards of the “A. Gemelli” School of
Medicine and on the website http://roma.unicatt.it by February 10 2015.
Two final rankings will be produced:
1. one for Italian and EU candidates living anywhere, as well as non-EU candidates legally
living in Italy (with permesso di soggiorno / residence permit);
2.
one for non-EU candidates living abroad.
In both final rankings, in case of a tie the youngest candidate will prevail.
Article 9 – Pre-enrolment procedures for admitted candidates
From the date of the publication of the rankings to February 24 2015, admitted candidates
must pre-enroll completing the procedure indicated below:
a) Candidates holders of an Italian Qualification: access the website http://roma.unicatt.it,
go to Apply Online  Request Page and download the first University fee instalment,
amounting to € 4.000, which must be paid no later than February 24 2015. Send a
copy of the payment receipt of the first University fee instalment and a “Statement of
Acceptance” (online form), by email to [email protected]. The sum of €
4.000 shall in no case be reimbursed.
b) Candidates holders of an International Qualification will receive an email (to the email
address provided in the application) with the International Bank Transfer details of the
first University fee instalment, amounting to € 4.000, which must be paid no later than
February 24 2015. Send a copy of the payment receipt of the first University fee
instalment and a “Statement of Acceptance” (online form), by email to
[email protected]. The sum of € 4.000 shall in no case be reimbursed.
Candidates that do not comply with the provisions a) and b) indicated above by the
deadlines indicated in the present article shall be considered as 'withdrawn'; in case of
renounce candidates may send formal communication to [email protected];
vacant places shall be made available to other candidates according to merit ranking.

Article 10 – Requirements for admitted candidates
Winners of the competition in order to enroll must be holders at the time of the enrolment of:


High School Leaving Certificate;
English Language Certification, satisfying the following minimum scores:

CAMBRIDGE ESOL FCE Grade B
All candidates are required to provide the English Language Certification. Are exempted
from producing the English Language Certification, only candidates who have attended an
English speaking high-school.
The above-mentioned Certifications with the relative minimum score indicated will be the
only ones accepted and must be submitted no later than September 24 2015.
Article 11 – Enrolment procedures for admitted candidates
To enroll, admitted candidates must deliver, no later than September 24 2015, the following
documents:

request addressed to the Rector (download online form);
“Statement of Acceptance” of the Ethics Code (download online form);
Copy or self-declaration of high school leaving certificate;
English Language Certification;
holders of foreign school certificates must provide the high school leaving certificate,
along with the documentation required in the Annex “A”;
two card-size photos (indicate name and surname on reverse side);
a photocopy of ID document and fiscal code card (codice fiscale);
christening certificate (only for Catholics). In the absence of the certificate, candidates
will arrange an appointment with an Ecclesiastic Assistant (at any time, also after
enrolment);
non-EU students must provide a photocopy of a valid residence permit;
certificate of vaccination for hepatitis B;
certificate of Mantoux-technique tuberculosis test, as indicated in the health provision
no.17712/1998 (State-Regions Conference); the test shall be conducted in a public
structure;
clergy are requested to provide a declaration from their superior authorizing the
enrolment at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

Candidates already enrolled at other universities have to provide, besides the above
indicated documentation, the transfer request statement issued by the original university.

forwarded by post or courier with recorded delivery, no later than September 24 2015, to

The University reserves the right to conduct the checks provided by the law on the
declarations furnished by the candidates. Should these declarations result to be
untruthful, the University may take the disciplinary actions established by current
Legislation and proceed to the immediate expulsion of the student from the university.
