I The IACCW, the Ambassador of Authentic Italian Products 013 started at full speed with one of the most important projects carried out by the Chamber in the past few years: an agreement of collaboration with the Region of Calabria for the promotion of the regional food and wine production. The activities implemented in March have already shown the first results of the project, as described in the following article. 20 food producers were included in the first part of the project, while 10 wine producers will participate in Vino California, the signature event of the IACCW dedicated to native Italian wines, taking place in May. In September a trade and media delegation will travel to Calabria to visit the producers and to discover the Calabria territory, with its history, tradition and typical products. And for the rest of the year the Chamber will operate an information Desk, continuing to assist the Calabria companies in establishing and strengthening their relationship with the California market. In May, Vino California will bring back a weeklong celebration of native Italian wines, focusing on the main event, the Grand Tasting and on a string of other events at restaurants and retail stores. In its third year, Vino California has gained more and more recognition in the local market and it has become the most important event for Italian wines on the West Coast. Also in May, the IACCW will lead a trade delegation of 18 food importers to TuttoFood in Milan. From June to October, the project ‘Authentically EATalian,’ carried out with an agreement between the Ministry of Economic Development and Assocamerestero, will see the implementation of initiatives focused on the promotion of the Mediterranean Diet as a tool to fight against the current problems in the US: child obesity, leading to diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The project will see the involvement of children in elementary schools and adults enrolled in fitness centers, particularly careful about healthy diet and physical exercise. And on October 6… we all go to Piazza Italia! During the CicLAvia event, a whole day in which the City of Los Angeles shuts down a section of the city encouraging families to hit the road on their bikes, the Chamber will create an Italian hub, where the Mediterranean diet products will be on display. Tastings prepared by authentic Italian restaurants will be available to the public. How can we forget the ‘Ospitalità Italiana’ project? For the fourth consecutive year the ‘Marchio Q’ will continue to find its way inside those Italian restaurants that are still not on board or were recently opened. Everybody can participate, as long as they have the requisites!
