Ivan Francesco Ciampa born in 1982 in Avellino, young graduated in orchestra conducting at the
"Santa Cecilia" Conservatory in Rome with Maestro Bruno Aprea, in composition with Maestro
Giacomo Vitale and band instrumentation at the "D. Cimarosa" Conservatory in Avellino. He also
graduated in Cultural Heritage and Conservation.
He continues perfected in orchestral conducting with the major national and international music
schools and academies, such as:
- Accademia Musicale Chigiana with Carlo Maria Giulini (1999) and with Gianluigi Gelmetti (2008)
- Fundacion Eutherpe (Spain) with Bruno Aprea
- Academy of Music in Stresa with Gianandrea Noseda (2006 and 2009)
- Scuola di Musica in Fiesole with Gabriele Ferro (2008)
- "I Pomeriggi Musicali" Foundation with Jorma Panula (2008)
Winner of the "National Prize of the Arts" 2010/2011 edition - Conducting Section- Commission
chaired by Maestro Piero Bellugi.
Winner of the First National Competition for Conducting banned from MIUR in collaboration with
the Vicariate of Rome where he conducted the Orchestra of Italian Conservatives for the Christmas
Concert in honor of Pope Benedict XVI by performing Schubert’s Symphony no. 8 Winner of the
bursary (2007) for the V Master Course for Pianists and Conductors in Leon (Spain).
He has been Music Director on Stage and assistant of Maestro Daniel Oren at Teatro G. Verdi in
Salerno from 2008 to 2012, a period during which he also attended various opera productions in
other important theaters such as the Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, and at
the Arena di Verona for the opening of the 90th Festival 2012 with Mozart’s "Don Giovanni".
In the last three years he conducted opera and symphony productions of national and international
festivals such as:
Opera Bastille - Paris: "La Traviata", acclaimed production with Diana Damrau, Ludovic Tezier
and Francesco De Muro, live broadcasted in cinemas around the world;
Teatro La Fenice- Venice: the famous and successful production of "La Traviata" directed by
Robert Carsen;
Teatro Colon- Buenos Aires: acclaimed production of "L'elisir d'amore" in April 2015, directed by
Sergio Renan;
The Israeli Opera - Tel Aviv: new production of "Nabucco", with great success for audience and
critics;
Herkulessaal- Munich: Concert with Diana Damrau and Munchner Rundfunkorchester;
National Theatre of Astana - Kazakhstan: the magical Traviata of mirrors by Svoboda / Brockhaus;
Teatro Regio- Parma:
-Verdi Festival 2012: "Rigoletto" (Leo Nucci, Jessica Pratt);
-Lyric Opera season 2013: "Un ballo in maschera" and "Nabucco";

Teatro Giuseppe Verdi - Salerno: "Rigoletto" and "Otello" (with Gregory Kunde and Dimitra
Theodossiou), as part of the opera season in 2013 and 2014 and broadcast by Rai Tre in "Prima
della Prima" as well as "Turandot" (with Lise Lindstrom and Vladimir Galouzine).
Teatro Municipale of Piacenza and Teatro L.Pavarotti in Modena: the successful and
extraordinary production of "Simon Boccanegra" with artists such as Leo Nucci, Fabio Sartori and
Carlo Colombara, directed by Riccardo Canessa.
Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago: "Turandot" (with Giovanna Casolla) as part of the opera
season in 2013;
Smetana Hall - Prague: Concert with Sonya Yoncheva and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
He was also invited as Conductor in important Opera houses such as the Teatro Massimo in
Palermo, Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, the Auditorium Ciudad de Leon, the Teatro Cilea in Reggio
Calabria, the Teatro Bibiena in Mantua, the Reggia di Caserta’s Court Theatre, the Roman Theatre
in Benevento, the Teatro Comunale in Ragusa, Teatro Mario del Monaco in Treviso, Suita May
Theatre in Osaka, etc.

Casolla, Marcello Giordani, Kristin Lewis, Carmen Giannattasio, Michele Pertusi, Piero Pretti, Luca

He’s teacher of Orchestral Training at the “Nicola Sala” Conservatory in Benevento.
In 2009 he founded with director Emanuele Di Muro "Laboratorio Lirico / Orchestrale" creating a
close
collaboration
with
the
International
Festival
"Benevento
Entertainment".
The first work was in 2009 with "Prima la musica e poi le Parole" by A. Salieri. In 2010 he staged
the opera "L’Italiana in Londra" by D. Cimarosa at the Teatro Comunale in Benevento and at the
Teatro Bibiena of Mantua, thanks to which the “Nicola Sala” Conservatory in Benevento awarded
the second edition of the International Prize "Domenico Cimarosa" in Aversa. In 2011 he
conducted "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" by G. Rossini at the Teatro Comunale in Benevento and later in
the magnificent Royal Theatre inside Reggia di Caserta, in 2012 "L'Elisir d'amore" by G. Donizetti
at the prestigious Roman Theatre in Benevento.
In 2013 the laboratory staged "La Boheme" by Puccini at the Roman Theatre in Benevento and at
the Teatro Carlo Gesualdo in Avellino.

in Miscano (Bn) with the Orchestra of the “Nicola Sala” Conservatory in Benevento.
Among the future plans, we mention another great production of "Madame Butterfly" directed by
Renzo Giacchieri and that will bring him back, after the success of "Turandot" in 2013, at the 61st
edition of the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. In Turin-Teatro Regio- he will direct a production
of "La Traviata" as part of Expo 2015, "Macbeth" in Piacenza with Leo Nucci and the debut in the
conduction of "Nabucco" for prestigious Opera houses such as the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and
Teatro Perez Galdos in Las Palmas.
