Listening to Francesca’s music is like entering a land of voice and
acoustic sound. To trace out the boundaries of this land, one could
talk about nufolk and low-fi, and looking after these boundaries
PJ Harvey, Björk, Elliott Smith e Billie Holiday, could be put.
But this information does not say all about her, about her immediately sincere voice, about her songs, so free in their form, and
about the fascinating freedom of the melodies she sings.
There is something essential that lies in her (both on recorded
music and in her live shows), that avoids redundancy and that
wants to be reprehensive of her whole vision of the world, not only
of how she intends music. Just as if too many words and too many
notes could weaken experiences potentially fundamental.
Francesca Lago is thus voice and guitar with the addition of the,
sometimes discreet and sometimes invading, cello of Zeno Gabaglio.

Born in Milan from parents of different nationalities, she began
to play piano as a child, the guitar at the age of 14, her first performance took place shortly after.
She had different bands, with one of them, the Wrongside (a garage-punk band very active in Milan’s underground scene) she
recorded the album ‘Marmalade’ in 1994.
At the last show before the Wrongside split, an italian producer
offered Francesca to work on a record of electronic music, that’s
how “Mosca Bianca” was born. The album was published by Edel
in 1997. Many important Italian musicians cooperated at the
project such as: Morgan, Roberto Vernetti, Casino Royale and
had Marc Ribot on guitar. Francesca’s lyrics (originally written in
English) were translated into Italian by Eugenio Finardi, Carmen
Consoli and Edda Rampoldi.
After the tour supporting the album’s release (30 shows all over
Italy), Francesca retired form the music scene and is now back
with her new album “The Unicorn” an intimate and violently
sincere group of songs, recorded voice and guitar (2009, On the
Camper Records).

Zeno Gabaglio
After achieving a cello degree, a master in improvisation and a
degree in philosophy (in Lugano, Basel and Florence) he dedicated himself to the different aspects of music, preferring its most
authentic forms and – maybe – the less expected.
He published two records so far: Uno (Pulver&Asche 2007) and
Gadamer (Altrisuoni 2008).
He worked with, among others: Bugge Wesseltoft, Frankie Hi
NRG, Teho Teardo, Michel Godard, Garbo, Vinko Globokar,
Tibe, Gionata, Xabier Iriondo, Angelo Tonelli e Riccardo Zara.
