ANNE-MARIE CREAMER // UK, London // The sedentary metaphysics of the Keepers & the migratory aesthetics of travellers
“no human is ever outside or beyond geography.” I want to explore Lecce and Apulia as a crossroads of sorts, as a territory of hospitality, encounter and
mediation. I am interested in exploring how change and instability alter the engagement with a sense of place, and whether those who perpetually witness mobility also find themselves altered and their traditional sense of stability and preservation challenged.
I would want to make creative use of the act of translation, both in terms of working with the English and Italian languages as well as translating inventively between forms and mediums, developing a new work which uses the holdings of the rete dei caselli sud est archive and then cooperating with
keepers and local communities who live by the railway line I intend to collectively create an event in which they directly address the travelers as they
race past the railway track.

I’ll try to write down the relationship between human beings and the environment by recording, using a self-made receptor to find those constant but
inaudible frequencies, and an ultra-acute receiving set to tape the sounds in the surroundings that we often take for granted.
Combing with music and their own characteristics, I will compose a piece for every trip I take by train, and at last integrate all into a complete production. There’s no need to have a narrator – the experience audience have when they listen to the songs is itself the best interpretation. The audience will
name one their own the scenes and the history behind; through sounds our imagination is triggered, and a common yet unique memory of the city is
molded.

POW Prisoner Of War originated from the phrase (POW): Any person captured or interned by a belligerent power during war.
In the strictest sense it is applied only to members of regularly organized armed forces, but by broader definition it has also included guerrillas, civilians
who take up arms against an enemy openly, or noncombatants associated with a military force.
The POW’s video site-specific project intends to investigate the contrast between the load and the route, the static and dynamic journey from an aerial
viewpoint, in the context of moving landscape. This videographic research assessed the option to intervene on the roof of the train wagons and introduce
a camera (fixed Gopro camera or Drone) displayed there (with an overhead view) during the journey through the region crossed by the Ferrovie Sud Est
railways.

Archives will be creatively reproduced to serve as take-away ephemera. These new artworks, which result from research undertaken during phase I, will
be made available to the public during phase II by means of a Moving Library. The library will be installed within (or in immediate proximity to) crossing
keepers’ houses. During installation, public programming will take place at these locations which will include exhibition, performance (developed in
response to the archives and other phase I research) and meal-sharing. When a library is in transit, it will be made available on the trains by means of
suitcase dioramas. The role of librarians will be performed by the respective artists.

ANNE-MARIE CREAMER // REGNO UNITO, Londra // La metafisica sedentaria dei caselli e l’estetica migratoria dei viaggiatori.
Mi dedicherò alla ricerca su Lecce e sulla Puglia come luogo di passaggio, territorio di ospitalità, incontro e mediazione, sono interessata a ricercare come il
cambiamento e l’instabilità alterino il coinvolgimento con un luogo e come coloro che quotidianamente sono testimoni di viaggi e spostamenti a loro
volta trovino la loro stabilità messa alla prova.
Attraverso un uso creativo dell’atto della traduzione, lavorando con la lingua italiana e inglese, ma anche passando attraverso diverse forme d’arte
e mezzi di espressione intendo sviluppare un lavoro video e audio che partendo dagli archivi della rete dei caselli sud est coinvolga i casellanti e le
comunità che vivono lungo la ferrovia e che si rivolga direttamente ai viaggiatori che sfrecciano lungo i binari.

Cercherò di fermare la relazione che esite tra l’essere umano e l’ambiente attraverso le registrazioni audio, utilizzando un registratore autocostruito per
cercare queste frequenze costanti ma non udibili, e un ricettore ultra-acuto che registri i suoni di sottofondo che consideriamo scontati.
Insieme alla musica e alle caratteristiche proprie dei suoni, comporrò una traccia per ogni viaggio in treno integrandola alla fine in una produzione
completa. Non è necessaria la presenza di un narratore - l’esperienza di ascolto delle tracce costituisce di per sè l’interpretazione migliore.
Gli spettatori/ascoltatori daranno un nome alle scene e alla storia che c’è dietro alle tracce; attraverso i suoni la nostra immaginazione si innesca e la
memoria collettiva e personale della città si modella.

POW (Prisoners Of War - prigionieri di guerra) ha origine dalla frase che denota qualunque persona catturata o internata durante una guerra.
Nel senso orginiario si applica solo a soggetti che fanno parte delle forze armate, ma in maniera allargata si può riferire a guerriglieri o civili che
aprono il fuoco contro un nemico, o non combrattenti associati con una forza armata. POW è pensato come un progetto video site-specific che indaghi
il contrasto tra il carico merci e la rotta che compie, il viaggio statico e dinamico narrato da un punto di vista aereo, nel contesto di un paesaggio in
movimento. Questa ricerca video valuta la possibilità di intervenire sul tetto dei vagoni del treno introducendo una videocamera (come una GoPro o un
Drone) durante il viaggio nei territori attraversati dalle Ferrovie del Sud Est.

Il materiale dell’archivio della Rete dei Caselli Sud Est sarà tradotto in forma di opere d’arte portatili nella prima fase di ricerca della residenza.
Queste opere saranno poi messe a disposizione dei viaggiatori attraverso una “Libreria mobile”. La libreria sarà visitabile presso stazioni e caselli
ferroviari e accompagnata da esposizioni, performances e momenti di condivisione. Quando in transito la “libreria” sarà a disposizione dei viaggiatori
sui treni attraverso diorami. A turno gli artisti prenderanno Il ruolo di librai.
