On the new American imperialism
On the new American imperialism
by Flavio Sanza
My goal is to show you what American imperialism is today. My paper will be
divided into three parts. Firstly I will do an introduction to American imperialism
of 21st century. Secondly, I will present you the new manifest of American
imperialism, the ‘US National Security Strategy 2002’. Finally, I will give you my
personal points of view to stimulate a discussion. 9/11 was crucial for American
history. That day the World Trade Center had been destroyed by suicide planes
and U.S. were humiliated in front of the world. So Bush administration clearly
answered by a paper titled ‘U.S. National Security Strategy 2002’. After 9/11,
U.S. needed to create a new ‘homeland empire’ by their economy, politics and
military force. But National Security Strategy tells us more and more: ‘building
the democracy’, ‘creating free trades and markets’, ‘destroying evil countries’
and, obviously, ‘pre-emptive war’ are not empty words. They are a manifest of
US hegemony in 21st century.
