It all began with the necessity to support agricultural
ventures working this mountainous land with enormous
passion. Consequently, a strong and well organised
network has been set up to give them the opportunity to
distribute and sell their products at a fair price.
Besides farms and agricultural produce, this network also
involves bars, restaurants, b&b and hotels that purchase
the farm produce and want to advertise the importance
they attach to locally sourced raw materials.

’importanza storica di Donnas come centro
di transito e sosta in epoca romana la si
può immaginare osservando il tratto di
strada lastricata, con tracce della carreggiata, e il
peculiare arco romano intagliato nella roccia, divenuto
simbolo del comune. Sono passati molti secoli e il
comune di Donnas non passa comunque inosservato!
Una sosta è d’obbligo per godere dei magnifici
terrazzamenti del terreno collinare, tutto fittamente
coltivato a vigneti dai quali si produce il rinomato vino
rosso “Donnas”, e passeggiare lungo i tanti sentieri che
conducono in angoli di territorio valdostano meravigliosi
quanto poco conosciuti.
I
t is easy to perceive the historic importance of Donnas as
a stopping point and place of transit during Roman times
when we observe the stretch of paved thoroughfare
that still carries traces of those ancient cartwheels; not to
mention the distinctive Roman Arch cut into the rock wall
which has become the town’s emblem.
Many years have gone by but Donnas fails to go
unnoticed!. A stop here to admire the magnificent
terraced hillside, thickly covered in grapevines that
produce the renowned “Donnas” red wine; or a stroll
along the footpaths leading to picturesque yet almost
completely unknown corners of Valle d’Aosta are a
must.
