From 1 to 6 January, Epiphany included, Lipari hosts a series of open-air
concerts and shows.
A real-life nativity scene at the Volcano.
On 13 January there will are festivities on behalf of Saint Bartholomew,
the patron Saint of Lipari.

The Aeolian Carnival on Lipari.
Theatre of the Sicilian Theatre circuit on Lipari.

• Palm Sunday on Lipari – sacred representation of the Last Dinner and the
Passion of Christ by the Cantoni Popolari of the Aeolian isles.
• On 5 March festivities in honour of Saint Bartholomew, patron Saint of
the people of Lipari.

Good Friday, through the streets of Lipari “The Varette Procession”
accompanied by the characteristic sound of the traditional rattles called
“Troccole”.
Easter Sunday on Lipari, features a procession and gathering, between
the Madonna Addolorata and the Resurrected Christ, with the traditional
flight of the doves.
On the last day, festivities begin to celebrate Labour Holiday on Lipari.

International Folklore Festival on Lipari featuring artists and groups from
all over the world.

Ginestra Festival at the Volcano.
Mid June in Lipari sees the Film Festival at the Castle Amphitheatre. This
event was established in 1983 and culminated in 1990 with the
institution of the “Efesto D’Oro” prize, which is bestowed upon directors,
actors and producers that have distinguished themselves thanks to their
efforts in the film industry.

The second Sunday in July, festivities to honour Maria Santissima di
Porto Salvo a Lipari, featuring the picturesque procession of boats that
meanders across the Bay of Marina Lunga.
The third Sunday in July, festivities to honour San Cristoforo a Cannetto
in Lipari.
On the 17th, celebrations are held to honour Santa Marina a Gelso of the
Volcano.
August:
• Theatre shows are held at the Castle Amphitheatre in Lipari.
• Aeolian cultural events in Lipari, with book shows related to the Aeolian
isles.
• Art show with paintings on display in the Reading room on Corso Vittorio
Emanuele.
• From the 6th to the 8th of August, festivities honour San Gaetano ad
Acquacalda of Lipari, featuring the traditional Fishing Festival.
• From the 21st to the 24th, festivities honour San Bartolomeo, the patron
Saint of the Aeolian Isles on Lipari, with shows in the town squares,
open-air markets and fireworks in the evenings.
September:
On the 6th and 7th in Quattropani, Lipari, festivities honour Maria Santissima
della Catena, featuring games and music in the town square.
On the 8th in Quattropani, Lipari, there is a Pilgrimage at 05:00 in the morning
along with a religious service which ends in the churchyard in front of the
Sanctuary.
On the 12th, festivities honour the Most Holy Maria a Pirrera, in Lipari, with the
Sweets Festival.
On the 14th festivities honour the Madonna della Catena in Quattropani, Lipari.
October:
On the 7th, festivities honour the Maria Santissima of the Rosario, with sausage
tastings in Lami, Lipari.
November:
In the second half of November, the Wine and Bread Festival in Pianoconte,
Lipari.
On the 16th, festivities are held to honour Saint Bartholomew, the patron Saint
of Lipari.
December:
Musical events and dancing in the evenings in Quattropiani, Lipari, along with
tastings of typical cakes and sweets and tournaments of games from times
past.
On the 25th at the Vulcano, a live representation of the Nativity Scene.
Nativity Scene in Lipari in the cellars of Saint Anthony’s church.
Nativity Scene along the town streets in Quattropiani, Lipari, for the entire
Christmas period, and a large comet star is placed on the hill overlooking the
hamlet.
