EUROPEAN MUSICAL ACADEMY HISTORIC PIANO AND SOUND’S MUSEUM MUSICIANS’ BOTTEGA MUSICIANS’ LABORATORY VILLA DEI MUSICI International Musical Pole 1-European Music is the paramount element of our millenarian history. Thanks to its perfection of creation, its immutability of tradition and its universality of language It’s considered Transversal Art. The operating heart is the International Musical Pole, celebratory, representative, contemplative and informative of Our Musical Culture. International Musical Pole In Fabriano Marche Region, in the middle of the Italian peninsula. MILAN FLORENCE VENICE FABRIANO ROME Marche Region Marche Region Facing the Adriatic sea in the middle of Italy, with a little more of one million and a half habitants and just one commune on four with more than five thousand people, the Marche region has always been “Oriental Entrance” of our Country. It’s characterized by Appennini mountains’ presence that gently alight through parallel valleys to the sea. The region stands out thanks to its rare beauty and the historical presence of prominent figures: Giacomo Leopardi, Raffaello, Giovan Battista Pergolesi, Gioachino Rossini, Gaspare Spontini, Padre Matteo Ricci, www.turismo.marche.it Federico II and Gentile da Fabriano, all of them were born here in Marche region. Marches Region is considered the European capital of theatres , being the region that counts the highest number of theatres. Italy is the country that counts more theatres in the whole Europe. www.fabrianoturismo.it The city of Fabriano The city of Fabriano In the heart of Marches Region, beside the Appenini Mountains , it is one of the most extended territory in Italy, rich of naturalistic beauties and historical-artistic heritages: Fabriano. Fabriano was born between two feudal castles, placed on top of two hills divided by a tight valley created by the Giano River, since now called Castellano. Fabriano is placed in the last territorial edge of Ancona Province nearly close to Umbria Region, it’s surrounded by green landscapes and an uncontaminated nature that create a perfect mix between the place’ architecture and morphology. Fabriano has been an important cultural pole, important for its ancient origins and traditions that are still characterizing this territory. It’s expression of the past, remote and recent, that can be seen inside environmental values, inside the mutating vision of the landscape, inside the medieval and sixteenthcentury’s architectural features up to those of the rural constructions, inside the silent appearance of the narrow streets far away from the noise, inside the extreme friendliness of human relationships. Fabriano is universally known as “City of Paper”. It’s being evaluated as “Creative city” by UNESCO, which “Accademia dei Musici” is an essential part of. www.accademiadeimusici.it San Benedetto’s Area San Benedetto’s Area Accademia dei Musici takes place in the historical San Benedetto’s area. San Benedetto is an ancient abbey founded in 1244 by Saint Silvestro Guzzolini, also known for having founded the namesake monastic order. San Benedetto’s Abbey was born as hospice for the elderly people, after the 1997’s earthquake it’s been renovated and now is the house of the “Accademia dei Musici” and also hosts artistic and cultural events. Even today it remains largely foreign to classical concerts and recordings production, pre-romantic and romantic on period instruments. Must not forget that these instruments are considered real “State of Art” thank to their quality production and only time and poor storage conditions can prevent them to play. The right restoration allows you to recover a percentage of 90/100% of their original, sonic, aesthetic and artistic qualities. The market, especially abroad, would take advantage about those valuable tools of magnificent beauty (for amateurs, for lovers of art objects and musicians), also because they are a great economic heritage. This lab relies on collaborations with several specialized centers for the supply of tools, lately released in the market, and fully recovered. Innovation is represented by a “finished product”, restored to its original “concert” condition and fully functional, recovered in its vital functions through an aesthetic and sonic philological restoration according to historical texts and following the rules of the ancient practices. Teaching and Training Activity Teaching and Training Activity The teaching activity consists in two separate sections: Restoration School and School for Tuners. The School of Restoration is in charge of craftsmen teachings concerning techniques, history and art of the ancient pianos. Through the studying of historical sources and ancient Treaties, the laboratory follows all the instructions that characterized the manufacturing accomplishments of the time, creating a valuable and unique “reservoir” of information. The School of Restoration teaches methods and techniques by using its traditional and historical knowledge. The School for Tuners deals mainly with modern instruments and teaches all the practices of repairing, maintenance and tuning of the piano. All the students have accommodations for a total “immersion” in their study / activity.
