Mangrove forests cover a considerable part of the world’s tropical and subtropical coasts. They are among the
most productive ecosystems, providing substantial goods and services for local populations and planet. They
also host a unique fauna and flora, highly specialized for living in these intertidal forests. Nevertheless, these
forests are also considered amongst the most vulnerable and endangered ecosystems in the world, due to a
range of human pressures including clearing for coastal development, conversion for agriculture and
aquaculture, and overexploitation of products. Climate change is a new threat to mangroves: rising sea levels,
changes in water temperature and ocean acidification are likely to affect the biodiversity, productivity and
conservation values of this unique ecosystem.

Understanding the Ecoydrology of Mangroves: A Simple SPAC eco-hydrological characteristics remains largely understudied, despite the crucial link with productivity, efficient carbon storage and fluxes. In this contribution we develop a “first-order” Soil ...

The Soil-Plant-Atmosphere Continuum of Mangroves: A Simple

The Soil-Plant-Atmosphere Continuum of Mangroves: A Simple Mangroves represent the only forest able to grow at the interface between a terrestrial and a marine habitat. Although globally they have been estimated to account only for 1% of carbon sequestrati...
