Research Activities
Development of mathematical models, exact and heuristic algorithms for problems arising in
Operations Research, Combinatorial Optimization and Logistics. I am particularly interested in
the development of Mixed Integer Linear Programming models, exact algorithms such as
branch-and-bound, branch-and-cut and branch-and-price, and metaheuristics.
Application of the above techniques to several case studies, among which: vehicle routing problems
with loading, bin packing and knapsack problems, pickup and delivery traveling salesman
1
problems, parallel machine scheduling problems, multi-dimensional cutting and packing,
optimal layout problems and shortest paths.
Contributions as referee to various international journals, including: INFORMS Journal on
Computing, Transportation Science, Networks, 4OR, EJOR, C&OR, OR Spectrum, JOTA,
Annals of Operations Research. I have been in the program committee of the conferences
Odysseus, Matheuristics and GECCO.
