Vito Artioli, Severino Artioli, Andrea Artioli 45 The Made in Italy tradition takes a new step forward. Entirely manufactured in Italy with selected materials and natural leather, Artioli shoes rediscover the ‘Ars Sutoria’ (the art of shoemaking) thanks to the scrupulous crafting tradition handed down by the founder Severino Artioli to his descendants, son Vito and grandson Andrea. Simple in their conception but sophisticated in their elegance, Artioli shoes are at the same time original and traditional, but with distinct attitude. If you ask Andrea Artioli what’s special about his shoes, his answer is usually pretty blunt. As any good artisan, confident in his skill, pragmatic and honest, he’ll simply reply “they’re well made”, the only way possible for a shoe factory with a tradition as long and inspired as his. No compromise on the materials, extreme attention to design and the desire for distinction: in simple terms this is the recipe for success that has allowed the brand to affirm itself in just a few years and at a sustained pace in a sector like artisanal footwear in which the competition from Italian, American and all too often Asian competitors is fierce. Severino began work in 1912 in the shoe shop of his first master shoemaker in Ferrara, who worked with few tools. Young Severino quickly became indispensable, inventing and perfecting new tools and production processes along with expert mechanics, and soon created his own brand. The ‘fifties saw the implementation of these new shoemaking techniques and the birth of the first Collezione casual shoes Casual shoes collection Francesine in pellame pregiato collections, up to when Severino passed the baton to his son Vito, who took full advantage of his family’s great entrepreneurial tradition and invented the first slip-on shoe with elastic under the tongue, allowing the fit to adjust to any kind of foot. It was in 1990, when Andrea started up in the company, that the “Maison” presented its comfortable casual line called “Andrea by Artioli”: a shoe that offered a fit almost as if made to measure because it was tubular and, like a glove, could adapt and conform to the foot wearing it. Flexible organisation, attentive to the demands of the both the market and its customers, a team of experienced, motivated and continually stimulated workers and the ongoing collaboration of sector professionals with know-how in a vast ranges of fields, soon made this footwear company into one of the most widely acclaimed in both Italy and the world. Meticulous study of the markets and materials, and special attention to anticipating trends are now an ongoing commitment in the development of all the company’s collections.
