TECSYSTEM S.r.l ® NOTE INSTALLAZIONE INSTALLATION RULES COLLEGAMENTO ALIMENTAZIONE CENTRALINA, CASSETTA SCS E SONDE UNIT POWER SUPPLY, WIRING BOX AND SENSORS. 4 SCS TECSYSTEM S.r.l ® RULES FOR PROPER INSTALLATION OF THE UNIT In order to ensure a correct and reliable operation of the system for controlling the temperature of the transformer, you must follow the instructions provided in this document to install: the unit, the wiring box SCS and the sensors Pt100. 1) POWER SUPPLY CONNECTION UNIT For proper device operation, always check the values of power defined by Tecsystem and indicated in the manual of the product. Devices with universal power supply can be powered from 24 to 240 Vac-dc, regardless of polarities. This peculiarity is obtained through the use of a tested power, new concept and realization, which relieves the technician of any concern for the correct supply Vac or Vdc. Terminals 42-40 are dedicated to the power connection , the terminal 41 must be fixed to the ground wire. IMPORTANT NOTE! FIGURE 1) TRANSFORMER Don’t connect the power unit directly to the secondary of the controlled transformer Figure 1). Such connection may cause a failure of the unit, it can be damaged by overvoltage higher than the maximum value indicated in the manual. This situation can be generated from noise, voltage fluctuations or variations of transformer load. MT BT NO V U W N UNIVERSALE 24-240 Vac-cc POWER SUPPLY MONITORING UNIT To protect the electronic equipment, it is recommended to create an auxiliary line with values of power supply. The alternatives proposed by Tecsystem are: using the power line protector PT73-220" FIGURE 2) or using the AU24 power supply FIGURE 3). Both solutions have been studied by TECSYSTEM Srl for this specific purpose. FIGURE 2) FIGURE 3) TRANSFORMER TRANSFORMER MT V U W N BT MT V U W N BT AU 24 PT 73 UNIVERSALE 24-240 Vac-cc POWER SUPPLY UNIVERSALE 24-240 Vac-cc POWER SUPPLY MONITORING UNIT MONITORING UNIT SCS 5 TECSYSTEM S.r.l ® 2) Pt100 SENSOR CONNECTION For a proper connection of Pt100 sensors between the SCS wiring box and the temperature monitoring unit, you must strictly follow the following rules: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Each Pt100 should be connected with a cable with three conductors with a minimum section of 0,35 mm² and a maximum of 1 mm² Extension cable must be shielded with 80% tinned copper braid covering Conductors must be twisted Cable shield must be grounded only on one end, preferably on the side of the monitoring unit Cable signal transfer of the Pt100 should not be close to the power transmission cables, low voltage and high voltage ones Cable signal transfer Pt100 must be placed in a linear way, without creating windings on itself Any tips of the conductors must be properly crimped to avoid false contacts If you do not follow strictly the installation rules provided, you may have anomalies in the temperature reading, for which TECSYSTEM will not be responsible. Note: For a better contact with the terminal box spring SCS-R, do not use the crimping wire terminals. Insert the stripped wires as shown below. SCS-R internal view with three temperature sensors Pt100 and connected measuring signal transport cable. 6 SCS TECSYSTEM S.r.l ® 3) CONNECTION OF THE SIGNALLING “RELAYS” ON TECSYSTEM UNITS The unit is equipped with the following signal relays: fault, fan, alarm and trip. For a proper monitoring system and adequate protection of the transformer, all relays must be monitored, with the exception of the FAN contact, which is optional. Fault relay works in active safety mode and it is important to be used to be aware of any faults of the system. 4) HOW TO USE THE FCD FUNCTION ON TECSYSTEM UNITS In case of a false temperature readings due to the an incorrect connection, to one broken sensor or to the presence of high noises, you could have unwanted tripping of the transformer. Enabling the FCD=10 function, as stated in the unit instruction manual of the unit, you can limit the inconveniences associated with the out of services of the transformer. In case of a sudden temperature increase (more than 10°C), the unit does not give the trip of the transformer, but it inhibits the channel involved with the indication on the display of FCD. The Fault relay allows the remote indication. You can reset the indication pushing the RESET button. Then you need to check that you have performed all the standards installation, and eventually you can replace the faulty Pt100 sensor or verify if there is any device which generates any electromagnetic interference.
