Nell’ambito del panorama letterario di lingua anglofona, sono stati scelti testi che affrontassero temi trasversali alle varie discipline, per stimolare gli studenti a effettuare confronti e a individuare connessioni e relazioni di significati in ambito interdisciplinare. Dove possibile, sono stati affiancati testi della letteratura italiana, mentre occasionalmente la produzione letteraria è stata accostata ad opere di arte figurativa a dimostrare le relazioni intercorrenti fra i diversi linguaggi espressivi. In quest’ottica, i testi sono stati talvolta affiancati dalla visione di trasposizioni cinematografiche, parziali o integrali, con l’intento di sollecitare l’abilità di ascolto oltre che di illustrare possibili chiavi interpretative di una tematica, stimolando di volta in volta negli studenti capacità di confronto, di analisi e di critica. Ogni testo considerato è stato ricollegato all’opera da cui è stato tratto, all’autore – di cui sono stati evidenziati soprattutto gli elementi biografici più significativi - e al contesto storico e culturale nelle sue coordinate essenziali. Attraverso varie tecniche di lettura sono state messe a punto innanzitutto un’adeguata comprensione, quindi un’analisi sia dal punto di vista stilistico che contenutistico (trama, personaggi, tematiche, struttura, tecniche, narrazione, linguaggio). Sono state svolte inoltre con la classe attività di produzione scritta di brevi composizioni, riassunti e commenti, con il fine di favorire la preparazione degli studenti nella stesura della terza prova prevista dall'esame di stato.
