A After amusing and refining the Design Week in Milan with the most intriguing,élite and refined cooking show of the fashion week,in October 2012 the young designer group Segno Italiano and Carlo Spinelli, food writer for the magazine ItaliaSquisita, were once again the center of attention in the event planning world. With the sponsors Pastificio dei Campi di Gragnano (NA) and Birra Baladin delle Langhe piemontesi, the young entrepreneurs have decided to create a mini-event that could stupefy and stand out in the chaotic bagarre of the Salone del Gusto 2012 in Turin:combining three creative chefs, the pasta Gragnano, the local beer and the design Made in Italy in a funny and very unique performance, to elevate once again the power of Italian excellence to the eyes of the world. The Chefs in question have therefore cooked the Gragnano pasta on a vintage ApeCar of the ’60s,emphasizing the tasty experience through a creative cuisine – at times incredible – and very elegant biodegradable plates.Among the infinite number of collateral events within the trade show of Slow Food, Segno Italiano and Carlo Spinelli had guts but also an easy life, because the ApeCar in primis, the uniqueness and recklessness of the gourmet cooking show, and the strong Made in Italy component of the enterprise, immediately caught the attention of the visitors, even though the culinery exhibition lasted only two hours and took place during the first three days of the Salone del Lingotto Fiere. Art Cuisine and Design Segno Italiano, in its role as high designhunter, deals with discovering and recovering the image of the craftsmen of Italian excellence through videos and virtual communication, and finishing off the work with themed events and performances withint the most important food, design and fashion trade shows and events in Italy and around the world. The meeting with the writer Carlo Spinelli has concluded this magic circle of talent-scouting: the introduction of young emerging and creative cooks has only left an even stronger and synergic imprint on the individual events, accentuating the communication spirit through mass-media and amplifying its image with the help of great art cuisine. It is for this exact reason that Salone del Gusto saw alternating the cooks Marcello Trentini of the Magorabin from Turin,Christian Milone of the Trattoria Zappatori from Pinerolo and Alessandro Negrini and Fabio Pisani of Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia from Milan: after shuffling the cards of dry pasta, the chefs have then revisited some traditional dishes (historically, dry pasta is not used very much in the Italian Region of Piedmont, editor’s note) and, more specifically, the Chefs from Milan have even interpreted the cuisine in a very sophisticated and ironic way with“Cous cous di spaghetto ca’ pummarola”(spaghetti-based Cous cous with tomato sauce) and an extraordinary “Marshmallow di pasta con spaghetto caramellato”(pasta-based marshmallows with caramelized spaghetti). The interaction between cooking, design and creative communication was therefore a winning combination, considering the great final results in terms of visibility and value of the Made in Italy image. 9
