The Project
1/2
 A Case Management System (CMS) is being implemented to serve as
a core collaboration platform for performing the tasks of the UPC.
 The Unified Patent Court (UPC) will be a court common to the
Contracting Member States and part of their judicial system.
 The UPC will have competence to hear disputes regarding the
European Patents and the new Unitary Patents granted by the
European Patent Office (EPO).

Cases are represented by specific processes

A process is organized as a system of logically interconnected sub processes
(Submit a Statement of Claim, Raise a Preliminary Objection, Issue an Order, …)
Dashboard allows users to know what has been done and what is left to do
to achieve the next step in the procedure
Timers ensure that every action is accomplished within a specified amount
of time or by a given deadline

DOCUMENTS

Actions are built around documents

A document is obtained by merging data specified by the user into a template,
or by uploading it into the system

Documents are stored into a document system. Meta data are saved into a
database for subsequent quick searches

If a document is submitted by an external user, it is checked
and validated/rejected. If rejected, a request for amendments
allows the author to submit a new version

A document evolves through its versions

Each version is assigned a language, a submission date and time

Each document can be qualified as confidential
