UN BILANCIO DI QUANTO È STATO FATTO, COSTRUITO E VISSUTO.
QUESTO SILENZIOSO PASSAGGIO CORRISPONDE AD UNA RIFLESSIONE INTENSA, MOLTO INTIMA, A VOLTE UN PIZZICO

HA INIZIATO LA SUA ATTIVITÀ DI SEGAGIONE DEI TRONCHI DI ABETE A TAVERNELLE NEL 1919.
DA SUBITO CORÀ E’ STATA UN’AZIENDA DI RESPIRO MONDIALE: IL PRIMO DEPOSITO IN AUSTRIA È STATO APERTO NEL LONTANO
1936 AD ARNOLDSTEIN, NELLA REGIONE DELLA CARINZIA, IL SECONDO, INVECE, IN SLOVENIA A POSTUMIA DUE ANNI DOPO, NEL
1938. VENNERO PIANTATI COSÌ I PRIMI SEMI DI UNA GRANDE AZIENDA INTERNAZIONALE.
IN SEGUITO ALLA GUERRA, LA PRODUZIONE, CHE AVEVA ASSUNTO IMPORTANZA REGIONALE, SI BLOCCÒ ED ENTRAMBI I DEPOSITI

DALL’AFRICA E DALL’ASIA. AFFONDA COSÌ LE RADICI UNA NUOVA FORMA DI ORGANIZZAZIONE AZIENDALE E L’ATTIVITÀ, DEPOSITI
COMPRESI, SI CONCENTRA TUTTA A TAVERNELLE, VICINO VICENZA, DIVENTANDO LA CORà DOMENICO & FIGLI S.P.A.

ALL’INIZIO DEGLI ANNI ’70 PIANO PIANO SI SVILUPPA UN NUOVO ANELLO DEL TRONCO: CORÀ APRE LE NUOVE SEDI in INDONESIA
E A SINGAPORE, DA DOVE PARTONO NAVI NOLEGGIATE A TIME CHARTER CARICHE DI TAVOLAME.
IN SEGUITO, A CAUSA DEL DECRETO CHE VIETA L’IMPORTAZIONE DI TRONCHI DI RAMINO DALL’INDONESIA, SI CHIUDE
DEFINITIVAMENTE L’ATTIVITÀ INDUSTRIALE DI QUESTO SPECIFICO SETTORE.
IN ORIENTE, COME IN AFRICA, ALCUNE IMPRESE INIZIANO A TRASFORMARE IN LOCO IL LEGNO E AD ESPORTARE IL TAVOLAME.
LA CORÀ SI TRASFORMA, CHIUDE I REPARTI DI SEGHERIA IN ITALIA E DIVENTA UN’AZIENDA COMMERCIALE CHE IMPORTA le
TAVOLE GIÀ LAVORATE E Le DISTRIBUISCE, ATTRAVERSO LE SUE FILIALI, DIRETTAMENTE AGLI UTILIZZATORI FINALI.

LA CRISI ECONOMICA DEL 1981 FA DIMINUIRE IL NUMERO DEGLI IMPORTATORI Di oltre il 50%, facendo chiudere QUASI
TUTTE LE SEGHERIE IN ITALIA E incrementando così lo SVILUPPo delLA LAVORAZIONE del legno direttamente NEI PAESI
D’ORIGINE.
NEL 1982 APRE A PISTOIA LA PRIMA FILIALE ALLA QUALE SEGUIRÀ NEL 1986 OSIMO E POI CASARSA CON L’ACQUISTO DELLA
MORASSUTTI S.P.A.
MA IL MONDO IMPONE UN NUOVO CAMBIAMENTO: NEL 1985 UNA POTENTE NEVICATA DISTRUGGE 14.700 MQ DI CAPANNONI
NELLA SEDE DELL’AZIENDA. UN DANNO STIMATO ALL’EPOCA IN 4,5 MILIARDI DI LIRE.
CON DUE ANNI DI DURO LAVORO, SENZA L’AIUTO DELLE ASSICURAZIONI, TUTTO VIENE RICOSTRUITO ED AMPLIATO.
CONTINUANDO L’OPERA SOCIALE NASCE la ‘FONDAZIONE DOMENICO CORA’ allo scopo di promuovere e sostenere
iniziative benefiche.

L’AZIENDA SI INGRANDISCE E si riorganizza in varie DIVISIONI PER SODDISFARE efficacemente LE RICHIESTE DEL MERCATO.
TRA QUESTE ULTIME LA PIÙ PRESTIGIOSA È LA DIVISIONE PARQUET CHE SI OCCUPA DI PRODURRE E COMMERCIALIZZARE
PAVIMENTI PER INTERNI ED ESTERNI, PREFINITI E TRADIZIONALI, IN NUMEROSE E PREGIATE ESSENZE GARANTITE PER QUALITÀ
ED AFFIDABILITÀ e certificate C.
2002-2012 I FIORI E FRUTTI
CORÀ POSSIEDE DA SEMPRE UNA VOCAZIONE GLOBALE E UNA VISIONE APERTA. CON IL NUOVO MILLENNIO QUESTE
CARATTERISTICHE SI ACCENTUANO E SBOCCIANO LE TRE CONSOCIATE ESTERE IN BOSNIA, ROMANIA E GABON.
IL CORE BUSINESS RESTA LA PRIMA TRASFORMAZIONE DEL LEGNO MA CON LA CORÀ WOOD GABON LA FILIERA PARTE DALLA
FORESTA E ARRIVA AL PRODOTTO FINALE, COSì IL COMPENSATO PRODOTTO IN LOCO, VIENE ESPORTATO IN TUTTO IL MONDO.
LO SVILUPPO PROSEGUE ANCHE ALL’INTERNO DELL’ AZIENDA CON LA NASCITA DELLE DIVISIONI: NAUTICA, TRANCIATI
PRECOMPOSTI, ABETE FELTRINELLI E LAMELLARI.
SI CREANO NUOVI ASSETTI PER RENDERE MIGLIORI I FRUTTI DELLA PIANTA. A COLLESALVETTI (LI) VIENE APERTO IL NUOVO E
PIÙ GRANDE POLO LOGISTICO ITALIANO (39.600 mq di superficie) che in pochi passaggi permette di spedire a tutta
la clientela italiana la merce sbarcata presso il porto di livorno. IL 40% DEL FATTURATO DI CORÀ passa così
direttamente dal porto al cliente finale.
INNOVAZIONE ED ULTERIORI INVESTIMENTI, ANCHE ALL’ESTERO, RESTANO LA RICETTA PER OTTENERE NUOVI RACCOLTI IN
FUTURO, COME L’INSTALLAZIONE DI UN SIGNIFICATIVO IMPIANTO FOTOVOLTAICO PER LA produzione di energia da fonti

POLITICA AMBIENTALE DI TUTELA DEI BIOSISTEMI FORESTALI E DI GESTIONE SOSTENIBILE DELLA RACCOLTA DELLA MATERIA
PRIMA.
SUI QUASI 600.000 ETTARI DI FORESTE IN GABON È IN CORSO LA CERTIFICAZIONE OLB (ORIGINE LEGALE DU BOIS) CHE
COMPROVA IL PIENO RISPETTO DELLE NORME LOCALI E DELL’AMBIENTE, NEL QUADRO DELLA LOTTA AL TAGLIO ILLEGALE.
L’ATTENZIONE ALL’AMBIENTE E AL FUTURO DELLE FORESTE SI CONCRETIZZA ANCHE NELLE CERTIFICAZIONI COC_FSC_PEFC
(chain of custody_Forest Stewardship CounCil_ Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), E
NEI PIANI DI GESTIONE SOSTENIBILE DELLE CESSIONI FORESTALI.
E’ PREVISTA PER IL PROSSIMO ANNO LA REALIZZAZIONE DI UN BOSCO URBANO DI 20.000 MQ NEI PRESSI DEL FUTURO CENTRO
LOGISTICO DI CRESPELLANO (BO), IN ACCORDO CON LE AMMINISTRAZIONI LOCALI PER RESTITUIRE AL BOSCO AUTOCTONO UNA
PICCOLA, MA IMPORTANTE, PARTE DELLE SUPERFICI CHE L’AGRICOLTURA PRIMA E L’INDUSTRIA POI GLI HANNO STRAPPATO NEI
SECOLI PASSATI.
PRENDERSI CURA DELLA NATURA È IL MIGLIOR MODO PER SALVAGUARDARE IL FUTURO. UN PROCESSO COMPLESSO CHE SI
ESPRIME ATTRAVERSO L’ATTENZIONE ALL’ECOLOGIA, E L’IMPIEGO DI MATERIE PRIME RINNOVABILI.

Corà è sempre attenta ai temi legati all’energia. fin dal 1989 produce l’energia elettrica DI CUI necessitano GLI
impianti di lavorazione del legno.
dal 2010 il gruppo Corà ha avviato un importante progetto di investimento nella produzione di energia da
fonti rinnovabili che a regime sarà composto da 8 impianti fotovoltaici sui tetti dei propri fabbricati per una
potenza installata totale di cIRCA 4.700 kWp (KILOWATT PICCO).
Questi impianti consentiranno un risparmio annuale di 3.200 tonnellate di CO2, (64.000 ton in 20 anni),
contribuendo a migliorare la qualità dell’ambiente in cui l’azienda opera.

Cura dell’ambiente e sviluppo culturale procedono di pari passo. La nostra responsabilità non si limita
all’impatto ambientale, ma comprende anche aspetti economici e sociali.
La diversità culturale è la radice dello sviluppo e la consapevolezza di questa enorme potenzialità passa
attraverso l’educazione.
Il nostro impegno parte dalle generazioni più giovani, nel tentativo di costruire un futuro più responsabile.
Abbiamo deciso di agire in questa direzione sia in Italia CHE nel resto del mondo.
I bambini sono la linfa vitale della scuola dell’Infanzia Domenico Corà, nata nel 1967 per la Comunità di
Tavernelle. In seguito nel 1982, allo scopo di promuovere e sostenere iniziative benefiche viene costituita la
‘FONDAZIONE DOMENICO CORA’, ente morale senza fini di lucro, nella quale viene conferita la nuova Scuola che
attualmente accoglie centoVENTI bambini nella sezione per l’Infanzia e venticinque bambini nella sezione di
Nido Integrato. Ogni anno, la Fondazione eroga “borse di studio” a studenti che si sono distinti per profitto
scolastico presso Istituti di grado superiore o facoltà Universitarie.
A 6.500 km di distanza altrettanti bambini partecipano ai corsi della scuola primaria organizzata in seno alle
concessioni forestali di Lastourville (GABON).
Il sapere è il più grande patrimonio di ogni popolo, non solo di quello italiano.
In Gabon, Bosnia e Romania stiamo promuovendo, attraverso le consociate estere, forme di sviluppo sostenibili
che aumentino il valore aggiunto del legno nel Paese d’origine e che mantengano le specificità culturali
delle diverse popolazioni.
Attraverso la formazione ed il lavoro, si costruiscono le fondamenta, non solo di una crescita economica,
ma anche di una vita più soddisfacente sul piano intellettuale, emozionale e morale.

GRAZIE ALLA CONOSCENZA ACQUISITA NEL CORSO DEGLI ANNI NASCE LA DIVISIONE Corà PARQUET CHE RAPPRESENTA UN’ECCELLENZA TRA LE DIVISIONI, CAPACE DI OFFRIRE una serie di pavimentazioni di legno in grado di soddisfare le esigenze di qualsiasi acquirente, sia per la varietà delle specie legnose, sia per le dimensioni delle doghe.
In epoche come la nostra in cui perfino la musica di Mozart aiuta la vigna a dare vino migliore, il legno per i
pavimenti assume NELLE CASE E NELLE INFRASTRUTTURE MODERNE un’importanza strategica per i suoi colori, la
varietà delle venature e quindi dei disegni. NON SONO CERTAMENTE DA MENO LE CARATTERISTICHE TECNICHE QUALI

Four Generations DEDICATED TO wood
Chi ha sfogliato queste pagine, avrà intuito dalle parole e dalle immagini qualcosa di più su di noi.
Questo “punto della situazione” ci ha spinto ancora una volta a pensare quale sia la nostra identità.
A caratterizzarci è, senza dubbio, la cultura del legno. Un patrimonio di conoscenze complesso che
applichiamo in maniera creativa in base alle circostanze. Il nostro sapere si trasforma ogni giorno in
un consiglio diverso, per venire incontro alle esigenze di ogni singolo cliente.
Non ci interessa la quantità, sosteniamo la qualità: il prodotto migliore per ogni esigenza. In un
mondo dove tutti pensano di sapere fare tutto, siamo rimasti fedeli al concetto di professionalità. È
l’esperienza, che abbiamo maturato lungo quasi un secolo di attività, a guidare le nostre scelte.
Siamo consapevoli della nostra personalità, con le forze e le debolezze, del tutto umane, che essa
comporta, ma siamo certi che la saggezza accumulata con il passare del tempo sarà una garanzia

There is a moment in life when each one of us feels the need to “stop” and look at the things that have been done, and the
achievements reached.
This silent passage corresponds to an intense personal reflection, at times prideful. It makes us look inside ourselves to see how
we have grown, what has changed around us and how we fit in this world.
We are humans. We are the result of a miracle called life, to which we owe everything. This short monograph wants to be a
“picture”, a warm story of a life dedicated to wood, our centre of mass to this day.
Who reads this will learn about our persistence in the great efforts as well as the ambition to reach real results. But you will also
read about the passion and love that has kept this large family together during past and present generations.
Future is by definition unknown, but we are certain of something: our career and steps to this day will guide our perspective and

1919-1943 seeds
Founder Domenico Corà was born in Cesuna, a little town in the Asiago upland in the province of Vicenza and started the sawmill
business with fir tree trunks in Tavernelle in 1919. Since the very beginning Corà was a world leading company: its first warehouse
in Austria was opened back in 1936 in Arnoldstein, in the Carinthia region, while the second was in Postumia, Slovenia only two years
later, in1938. It was then that the first seeds were planted for the blossoming of this great international company. Production reached
a regional recognition, but after the war, it suddenly stopped, and both these warehouses were closed down.
Wood is a live material. It communicates emotions through the consistence, the colour and aromas. We try to bring out those
qualities by giving it shape.
1944-1969 roots
Life starts again in 1946 after a long break needed to get the sawmill back on running following world war II bombings. In 1948 we
had the first positive signs: the new Tarvisio (Udine) and Villabassa (Bolzano) warehouses were opened. In the 50’s the purchasing
market grow and Gianfranco starts importing tropical woods from Africa and Asia. The grounds were laid for a new company
structure where the organization, including the warehouses, was centralised in Tavernelle, close to Vicenza. This company was Corà
Domenico & Figli S.p.A.. Corà has always been focused on innovation. AND BECOMES the first Italian company to introduce, on
industrial scale, the wood desiccation process. The large reforestation in Carnia and the opening of the “Domenico Corà” primary
school in Tavernelle are some of the activities which underpin a “social” vision consistent with the values of a great company.
1970-1980 trunk
In the early 70s, a new ring on the trunk is slowly drawn as the newly opened Indonesian and Singapore branches send lumber wood
on time charter rented ships. Later, due to a law prohibiting the import of Indonesian ramino trunks, this manufacturing business
is permanently closed down for this specific industry. Companies in the orient regions, as well as Africa, start the wood trunks
transformation on the premises and export lumber wood. As a result, Corà transforms, shuts down Italian sawmills and becomes a
commercial company importing lumber wood and distributing it throughout branches directly to the final consumer.
Gianfranco Corà is nominated president of the Corà Domenico & Figli S.p.A.
The environment is our resource. We respect the woodland heritage, the forests; we seek for fauna preserve, ecosystem and
biodiversities preservation and protection of local native cultures.
Between 1963 and 1975 we financed a large program for reforestation in Cavazzano Carnico (UD) and Vito d’Asio (PN) for a total of
750 hectares of woodland in a mountain region.
To this day our commitment continues in the forests of Central Africa, Gabon, where we applied a strict environmental preservation
policy in order to protect the forests bio systems and guarantee a sustainable management of the raw material.
In this picture, wood, represents the most important part as in volume.
On almost 600.000 hectares of forest in Gabon we are currently receiving the OLB certification (Du Bois legal origin), which
establishes full respect of local and environmental normative in order to stop illegal wood chopping.
Furthermore, the COC, FSC, PEFC (chain of custody_forest stewardship council_ programme for the endorsement of forest
certification), certifications underline our concern of the environment, the future of forests and sustainable plans of forests disposals.
A new urban forest of 20.000 m2 is scheduled to start next year, close to the coming new logistic centre in Crespellano (BO). As
agreed with the local government, the aim is to give back to the native forest a small, yet important, area that was previously stolen
and destined to agriculture and industry.
The best way to protect our future is to look after nature by paying attention to ecology and the use of renewable raw materials.
1981-1985 branches
In 1981 the crisis cuts down 50% of importers, almost every sawmill starts to close. As a consequence first transformation of wood
starts to be carried out directly in the countries of origin. In1982 the first branch opens in Pistoia. And soon after, in 1986, opens
the Osimo one followed by the Casarsa branch due to the acquisition of Morassutti S.p.A.., Yet the world imposes further changes:
in 1985 a strong snowstorm destroys 14.700 m2 of warehouses in the headquarters. The damage was valued 4.5 billion Lire. Two
years of hard work, without any help from insurance companies, bring everything back to life with also an extension plan.
The “Domenico Cora” foundation is constituted to promote and support charity initiatives.
Corà has always been interested in energy related subjects. Since 1989, Corà, produces the electrical energy needed for the wood
manufacturing systems. And in 2010 began working on an important project investing in the production of energy from renewable
sources. Once working at full capacity it will be made of 8 photovoltaic systems on top of different warehouses and offices with a
kilowatt peak power of about 4.700 kWp.
Those power plants will provide a yearly energy saving equal to 3.200 tonnes of co2 (64.000 tonnes in 20 years), thus enhancing
the quality of the environment in which the company works.
1986-2001 leaves
The “branches” become very strong in a short time and give birth to leaves of different size and colour. Corà’s branches multiply
thanks to important financial developments. I.C.L. from Milan, Gardino S.p.A.. from Turin, and again Fratelli Feltrinelli S.p.A.. from
Milan become integrated part of Corà in just around ten years. The company expands and new Divisions are born to satisfy the
markets needs. Among them, the most prestigious is the Parquet Division, producing and commercializing indoor and outdoor,
prefinished and traditional wooden floors in many different wood types guaranteed in quality and reliability and C certified.
2002-2012 blossoms and fruits
Corà has always been characterised by the global talent and the open vision. The new millennium is a blossoming of these
characteristics with the opening of three overseas subsidiary companies in Bosnia, Romania and Gabon. The core business is still
the first transformation of wood with Corà Wood Gabon the process starts in the forest and ends the final product, so this plywood
made in Gabon is then exported all over the world. Development continues even within the company, with the creation of the Marine,
Engineered Veneer, Laminate and Abete Feltrinelli divisions. A new planning outlines how to enhance the quality of the “fruits”. As
a result, Corà, opens in Collesalvetti (LI) the largest Italian logistic warehouse (39.600 M2) that delivers goods, disembarked at
Livorno port, to all our clients. 40% of our sales go directly from the port to the final client. Innovation and more investments, even
overseas, are the recipes for a great future “harvest”, much like the installation of a significant photovoltaic plant for the production
of renewable energy.

generations in order to try to build a more responsible future. We have decided to work with this idea both in Italy and overseas.
Children are the lifeblood of the Domenico Corà kindergarten established in 1967 for the Tavernelle town. In the following years, in 1982,
the Domenico Corà Foundation is formed with the aim to promote and support charitable initiatives. A no-profit organization assigned with
the new school that, to this day, holds one hundred and twenty children in the kindergarten section and twenty five in the nursery. The
Foundation gives, every year, scholarships to the students that most excel in both high school and university.
6.500 km away, just as many children, participate to primary school courses organized within the forest concessions in Lastourville
(Gabon).
Knowledge is the greatest heritage a population has, not only the Italian one.
We are now developing in Gabon, Bosnia and Romania, new sustainable development plans through our branches, in order to enhance
the value of wood in the countries of origin and to maintain the cultural specificity of different populations.
Through training and working we set the foundations for an economical growth as well as a better life, more intelligent, emotional and
ethical.

To this day, Corà is the largest Italian company for transformation and import of wood, working directly in the countries of origin.
A strategic force that could be compared to large important European businesses, in terms of dimension and technical-economical characteristics. 3 logistic poles, 3 branches and 2 logistic platforms to reach every large and small business that works in the furnishing and
building industry.
With excellent distribution, financial and purchase skills, Corà is able to give the best product range and quality offer in the market.
The aim is to offer high product’s customization as well as a personalised service in each step of the chain.
Those results have been possible thanks to the exceptional knowledge we have of this material, and thanks to the people that work within
the company.
Technology has always been our strength, the result of continuous important investments both in the first and second transformation, in
the logistics, infrastructures and in the final product.
Thanks to the knowledge and experience gained through the years we created the Parquet Division, which represents excellence among
the rest of the divisions, offering a wide range of wooden floors with many different wood types and dimensions, to satisfy every need.
Paper, tools, furnishing, and flooring: wood is a very versatile material. It’s alive, it breathes, has a name, a family, a special character and
taste. We could say it is like a human being.
Some woods are more indicated for interiors, like the European maple; others for outdoor, such as Sapele wood; or again some just love
the loneliness like larch, used in lumber; Ayous is perfect for countryside and belongs to the new generation of engineered veneer.
Experience has taught us that each wood type is designed for a specific use, reason why, we study their personality and try to understand
what part they can play, in order to offer clients the right product for the specific need.
Every step of the chain focuses on quality. Starting with the selection of the raw material, to the finishes and manufacturing, the story of
every single board can be read.
To guarantee excellence we pay lot of attention to desiccation. This process was first introduced in the market by Corà in the ‘60s.
Manufactured timber is kept in warehouses for different periods of time according to the thickness of the wood type. 80 mm Oak for
example can reach 180 days in the warehouse. Inside the warehouse temperature and humidity are monitored and thanks to the probes
inside every single product, we can control that excess water evaporates and the correct humidity level is distributed along the fibres. This
is just a true example of our precision and care for quality.
Just like Mozart’s music helps the vineyard to give a better wine, wooden floors make the living in houses and facilities more exceptional
thanks to the colours, veins varieties and patterns. Let us also remember the outstanding technical features such as the elasticity of the
structure that eases fatigue, sound insulation, protection to heat and cold and laying versatility.
Every product is tagged with a label specifying the wood type, transformation processes and dimension, in order to make it easier when
choosing the correct product.
The traceability of each product starts in the forest and ends in the market distribution. This guarantees the total openness of the product
on sale.
All those achievements are thanks to our culture of wood.
