STORIA
Il marchio Promemoria è stato creato da Romeo Sozzi nel 1988.
L’azienda affonda le sue radici nella tradizione ebanistica artigianale di quattro
generazioni della famiglia Sozzi.
Dalla realizzazione di carrozze per la nobiltà locale di inizio secolo, la confidenza
con il legno si è affinata nella pratica del restauro di pezzi antichi, sino allo sviluppo
di collezioni proprie.
Questo percorso familiare, in costante evoluzione nelle tecniche di lavorazione e
nella conoscenza dei materiali, ha reso possibile la creazione di oggetti unici e di
altissima qualità, in cui i materiali non rappresentano il mezzo, ma sono la componente emozionale di un know-how antico e prezioso.
Romeo Sozzi, ebanista e designer, è l’anima creativa di Promemoria, che dirige
con i tre figli Stefano, responsabile della falegnameria, Davide, architetto a capo
dell’ufficio progettazione e Paolo, addetto alla logistica e ai servizi generali.
La sede dell’azienda è situata tra le montagne di Lecco e le rive del Lario.
Promemoria è ar ticolata in vari settori: atelier di ebanisteria, tappezzeria,
laboratorio per la lavorazione della pelle, in cui sapienti artigiani coniugano le
antiche tecniche artigianali con sofisticate tecnologie.
Ogni pezzo è studiato e curato fino all’estremo dettaglio per essere unico ed
esclusivo.
Sensibilità e cultura, sperimentazione costante, ricerca innovativa ed eccezionalità

HISTORY
Promemoria is a family-owned company, creating luxury furnishings in the finest
tradition of quality Italian craftsmanship. The brand was founded, in 1988, by Romeo
Sozzi. The company’s roots lie firmly embedded in the tradition of cabinet making.
The artisan skills are represented through four generations of the Sozzi family who
began by creating carriages for local nobility in the c19th and went on to the restoration
of fine antique furniture before, finally, forming their own collections.
This family’s path over the generations has been one of continuous refinement of working techniques, establishing a deep understanding of the materials and craft.
In the spirit of this tradition, today Promemoria creates timeless objects of sustainable
beauty and substance, using the highest quality materials and a refined aesthetics.
In this context materials are not only the means of the creation of the object but are
also emotional components of a precious time-honoured knowledge.
Romeo Sozzi, cabinet maker and designer, is the creative spirit of Promemoria, which
he personally directs together with his three sons: Stefano, responsible for the carpentry,
Davide, architect and head of the project department and Paolo, who is in charge of
the production department. The company’s base (HQ and workshops) is located in
between the mountains of Lecco and the two branches of Lake Como. Promemoria
is organised into different divisions: the atelier of carpentry, fabrics and the workshops
working with leather and skins. In all these areas, expert craftsmen combine ancient
skills and techniques with the most modern technologies.
Sensibility and culture, constant experimentation, innovative research, attention to detail and
the exceptional skill and knowledge of Promemoria’s people are the unique combination

ROMEO SOZZI
Romeo Sozzi nasce nel 1948 a Lecco, sul Lago di Como.
Introdotto fin da giovanissimo alle tecniche artigianali della lavorazione del legno
e del restauro, prima dal nonno poi dal padre, nella bottega di famiglia impara le
proporzioni e l’uso dei colori, abbracciando un percorso che passa per i banchi
dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.
Fin da allora si dedica alla progettazione di mobili e alla decorazione di residenze
per prestigiosi committenti che lo conducono verso Promemoria, azienda da lui
fondata nel 1988 sullo sfondo silenzioso e suggestivo delle montagne e del lago
di Lecco.
I numerosi viaggi, la frequentazione di musei dedicati all’arredo e la conoscenza di
falegnami d’oltralpe, sono stati fondamentali per la sua crescita e per la diffusione del
marchio Promemoria. Il successo professionale non ha però allontanato Romeo
Sozzi dalle sue origini: il dialetto imparato dai nonni e le sue montagne rimangono
radici irrinunciabili.
La sua spiccata propensione nell’usare materiali in contesti inaspettati e in
combinazioni insolite, portano ad intravedere in lui caratteristiche di genialità.
Romeo Sozzi ha promosso e sviluppato uno stile inconfondibile e raffinato, ma
nello stesso tempo consono alla vita di tutti i giorni.
ROMEO SOZZI
Romeo Sozzi was born in Lecco, on Lake Como, in 1948.
From an early age, in the family workshop, he learnt the craftsmanship techniques
of wood working and restoration, first from his grandfather and then from his father.
He studied at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan during which period he
started designing his first interior design concepts for a number of high profile
clients. This experience quickly led him towards the launch of his own company,
Promemoria, in 1988 which he established on the backdrop of Lake Como.
Numerous journeys, visits to dedicated design museums and knowledge of the
overseas craftsmen, were fundamental factors in his growth and in the spread of
the Promemoria brand.
His subsequent success did not, however, separate Romeo Sozzi from his origins:
the local dialect learnt from his grandparents and his mountains remain his
constant roots.
His genius lies in experimenting with new shapes and materials as well as applying
traditional raw materials in non-conventional ways. His attention to detail combined
with his refined craftsmanship make every space unique and specific to his clients
various personalities. He has created a unique style of understated luxury enjoyed
by the most sophisticated clientele all over the world.
SHOWROOMS
Il primo showroom Promemoria viene aperto nel cuore di Lecco.
Nel 1992 segue l’apertura a Milano nel quadrilatero della Moda tra Via Bagutta
e Via Montenapoleone: un passo quasi obbligato visto il crescente consenso che
premia il gusto e le creazioni Promemoria.
È in Rue de Bellechasse, vicino al museo d’Orsay e alla chiesa di Saint Germain,
che Promemoria muove i suoi primi passi nella Ville Lumière, Parigi.
Lo showroom londinese apre nel 2007 in una tipica townhouse.
Pimlico Road, con le sue gallerie d’arte e negozi di antiquariato, non poteva essere
scelta più appropriata.
Nell’aprile del 2008 Promemoria inaugura uno showroom a Mosca in Smolenskaya
Street, nei pressi della vecchia Arbat, area contraddistinta dalla presenza di lussuosi
negozi.
Nel 2011, come da tradizione, Promemoria dà il benvenuto alla primavera con
l’apertura di uno showroom a New York.
SHOWROOMS
The first showroom was opened in the heart of Lecco.
In 1992 the Milan showroom followed in the “golden triangle” of fashion between
Via Bagutta and Via Montenapoleone: this was a natural progression considering the
continuing appreciation of the brand Promemoria.
In 2005 Promemoria opens in Paris in Rue de Bellechasse, close to the Orsay
Museum and Saint Germain church, an area loved by artists.
The London showroom opens its doors in 2007 in a typical townhouse.
The choice of the exclusive Pimlico Road, with its mix of art galleries and antique
furniture, could not be a more appropriate location for Promemoria.
A year after, in April 2008, Promemoria inaugurates its Moscow showroom in
Smolenskaya Street closed to the old Arbat, an area distinguished by its historic
traditions and luxury boutiques.
Keeping with tradition, Promemoria welcomes in Spring 2011 with the opening
of a showroom in New York.

Wood essences are carefully chosen and left to mature naturally for a long period of
time.
Besides European woods, the Atelier also works with particular and precious exotic
essences, that are transformed into furniture and objects destined to shape our
habitat.
In search of the highest quality, the Atelier of leather is home to its master craftsmen,
who with their time-honoured know-how, make unique, handcrafted pieces.
Promemoria thanks to constant fabric research, has come up with a collection that
favours natural fabrics such as silk, wool, cashmere, cotton and velvet.
Bronze, an ancient metal, has always accompanied man throughout history.
This quality material, with its strength, nobility and colour is used to embrace a contemporary form of elegance.
COLLABORAZIONI
La passione per l’arte in tutte le sue forme ha portato Romeo Sozzi a collaborare
con numerosi artisti alla realizzazione di vere e proprie opere editoriali.
Nel 2002 viene pubblicato il libro “Espressioni” che segna l’inizio della lunga sinergia
artistica con il maestro Mario De Biasi e il pittore-scrittore Alfredo Chiappori.
Un’opera che rivela la vera essenza del legno e i suoi segreti.
Nel 2003 l’uscita di Messaggi”, libro che illustra la collezione privata del designer
attraverso le immagini di Silke Lauff, fotografa berlinese riconosciuta a livello
internazionale.
È del 2005 “Sopra e Sotto le Onde”, un volumetto sull’avvincente storia ambientata,
durante la seconda guerra mondiale, del sommergibilista Giovanni Mario Rota
concittadino del Sozzi.
Seguono nel 2006 “Metamorfosi”, libro di fotografie del grande Mario De Biasi
ispirate alle Metamorfosi ovidiane, commentate dal critico d’arte Vittorio Sgarbi, e
“Quadri e righe” del 2007, sull’arte dell’intarsio.
È del 2008 “Storie di Sapori”, un raccolta di ricette della cucina tradizionale del
lago di Lecco.
Nel 2010 viene pubblicato il libro “Bilou Bilou”, a cura del fotografo Daniele Cortese. La sedia Bilou Bilou viene intepretata e raccontata attraverso ritratti e scatti
nel territorio lariano.
COLLABORATIONS
His passion for all art forms led Romeo Sozzi to publish many editorial works in
collaboration with many artists.
The long lasting collaboration with the photographer Mario De Biasi and the painter
Alfredo Chiappori started with the publishing of the first book “Espressioni”, that
reveals the real essence of wood.
In 2003 Romeo Sozzi publishes “Messaggi”: through the images of Silke Lauff, the
photographer from Berlin, Romeo Sozzi’s private collection has been shown to the
public.
“Sopra e Sotto le Onde” followed two years later, a tale of the submariner Giovanni
Mario Rota, during the second world war.
“Metamorfosi” a book of photography dated 2006, encloses images taken by Mario
De Biasi inspired by Ovidio’s Metamorfosis. The introduction is written by the Italian
art critic Vittorio Sgarbi.
In 2007 Romeo Sozzi publishes a book dedicated to the art of inlaying called “Quadri
e Righe”.
The more recent publication “Storie di Sapori” (2008) is dedicated to the secrets of
the culinary art of Lake Como.
The book “Bilou Bilou” by the photographer Daniele Cortese, was published in
2010. The book portrays the Bilou Bilou chair through stories, portraits and
photos from the lake Como region.
COLLEZIONE
Grande tradizione artigianale, utilizzo di materiali nobili, ricerca costante: sono
questi i valori che da sempre contraddistinguono le creazioni Promemoria. Nelle
collezioni si respira l’influenza dell’Art Deco, della cultura orientale e della scuola
ebanistica italiana. I prodotti sono classici e al tempo stesso contemporanei e ben

La continua ricerca di tessuti preziosi quali velluti di seta, lini, sete, jacquards e pelli pregiate
impreziosisce questa collezione che si distingue per le silhouette morbide ed eleganti.
Light: lampade da terra, da lettura, da tavolo, applique e lampadari
I prodotti della linea Light sono realizzati in bronzo, legno, cuoio e vetro di Murano, con
paralumi in seta, cotone e lino. Le forme classiche ma al tempo stesso ricercate si sposano
con la moderna tecnologia di accensione al tocco e illuminazione a Led
Kids: arredi che traducono in piccolo le proporzioni perfette dei must di Promemoria.
COLLECTION
Traditional craftsmanship skills, the use of fine materials, continuous research: these
are the values which have always distinguished Promemoria creations. Influences of
Art Déco, Far Eastern cultures and Italian craftsmanship can be witnessed in the
collections. The pieces are classic whilst at the same time contemporary, and lend
themselves to different types of living spaces.
Every piece is hand crafted in the workshops, often to individual specifications, and is
subject to quality controls in order to reach the highest standards.
Wood: cabinets, tables, writing desks, screens and mirrors
A collection distinguished by the use of precious wood essences following the refined
technique of inlaying. This antique technique, as developed by Italian cabinet makers, has found in Promemoria an innovative and exemplary interpreter.
Soft: chairs, armchairs and beds
The continuous search for precious fabrics such as velvet silks, linen, jacquard and
valuable leathers, enriches this collection characterized by soft and elegant silhouettes.
Light: floor, reading, table, hanging lamps and chandeliers
The Light collection is made in bronze, wood, leather and Murano glass, with silk, cotton
and linen lampshades. The classic and elegant shapes perfectly match the modern technology
of Led lighting and touch switch-on.
