EPIPHANY OF THE LORD / EPIFANIA DEL SIGNORE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD / A Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Epiphany. “The Lord and ruler is coming; kingship is his, and government and power.” With these words the Church proclaims that today's feast brings a perfect fulfillment to all the purposes of Advent. Epiphany, therefore, marks the liturgical zenith of the Advent-Christmas season. The young Messiah is revealed as the light of the nations. Yet, as the antiphon for the Magnificat at Second Vespers reminds us, three mysteries are encompassed in this solemnity: the adoration of the Christ Child by the Magi, the Baptism of Christ and the wedding feast at Cana. WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES The 103rd World Day of Migrants and Refugees will be celebrated on Sunday, January 15, 2017. The theme chosen by Pope Francis is “Minor migrants, vulnerable and voiceless.” As Christians, we are called to reach out to and pray for all migrants to emphasize the unity of the human family and the values of acceptance, hospitality and love of neighbour. The theme of this year’s Day is precisely an effort to draw attention to the needs of those who are most vulnerable. As is customary, Pope Francis will publish a Pontifical Message to mark the occasion. PRAYER & LIFE WORKSHOP 2017: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25th / RECTORY HALL The Prayer and Life Workshop is a series of sessions where a participant learns to pray with various, step by step methods of deep prayer. At the same time, participants will learn how to transform their lives with the help of the Word. The sessions will take place weekly for 15 weeks and will end with a one-day retreat after the 15th session. Each two hour session will take place at the St. Brigid’s Rectory Hall. The instruction is free; however, all materials are $15. For more information, please visit: tovpil.ca/Ontario. Pre-registration is now open! Please contact the Parish office at: (416) 696-8660 / [email protected]. MARGUERITE BOURGEOYS O Mother Bourgeoys, your compassionate power is ever increasing, show us your way of Truth, Faith and Holiness. Make us humble enough to abandon ourselves to the Will of God, generous enough to find in the Cross the joy of the Loving Giver. May your fidelity to Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament, lead us ever nearer to this source of light and peace. May your spirit of openness help us to be concerned for our brothers and sisters throughout the world. Finally, may Our Lady of the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, bring us to this unity of eternal grace to which God has called you for all eternity. Amen. Amen.
