SELL-OUT FOR THE HISTORIC TASTING STAGED BY THE 12 AMARONE FAMILY ESTATES CELEBRATING THE EXCELLENCE OF VALPOLICELLA’S WORLD-CLASS EMBLEMATIC WINE WITH A THIRTY YEAR RETROSPECTIVE OF THE 80s, 90s and 2000s. (Verona, April, 2012). There was resounding success for the sell-out historic tasting dubbed “’80s, '90s and 2000s: thirty years of Amarone d’Arte”, staged by the 12 Amarone family estates on March 27th during the 46th Vinitaly of Verona. Twelve vintage Amarone wines were selected to offer to the 170 participants in the tasting (trade, press and professionals), paying homage to three decades of tradition, culture and hard work from 1980 to 2010. The wines were chosen by the 12 producers who came together in 2009 under the aegis of the Amarone brand. Ian D’agata, the journalist and wine writer who conducted the tasting, said: "The ‘12 Famiglie dell’ Amarone’ event was an opportunity to sample rare vintages and learn about the changes the celebrated red wine has undergone in the last thirty years. The tasting showcased the highest level of quality of the wines chosen: they ranged from excellent, balanced and perhaps slightly less dense wines (a sign of their worth) to wines of great refinement, concentration and precision. The range bore witness to the agronomic and wine-making expertise, as well as the prowess, of the Families of Amarone." Sandro Boscaini, chairman of the Association, said: "The success of the tasting devoted to discovering a selection of thirty years of ‘Amarone d’Arte’ confirmed that excellence in wine production is not a matter of fashion. “Indeed, Amarone is a wine capable of expressing through its organoleptic characteristics the uniqueness of the history and the land to which it belongs. The 12 Families are part of this tradition which, above all, stands for quality, an essential value that must be defended and promoted." Indeed, the Famiglie dell’Amarone d’Arte Association (Allegrini, Begali, Brigaldara, Masi, Musella, Nicolis, Speri, Tedeschi, Tenuta Sant’Antonio, Tommasi, Venturini, Zenato) has been committed for more than three years to defending, promoting and valuing the production and cultural excellence of the symbolic wine of Valpolicella of Verona throughout the world, including by ensuring it retains a clear identity.
