La continua ricerca, lo sviluppo costante, uniti all’esperienza nelle competizioni, hanno dato vita a THOR, il
nuovo paramotore 2T specifico per l’utilizzo su parapendio. Il progetto nasce dallo studio e dalle capacità
progettuali dei tecnici del reparto R&D che hanno individuato la possibilità di realizzare un motore 2T
compatto e leggero. Il successivo sviluppo e la perfetta messa a punto del motore sono stati possibili grazie
alle tecnologie di collaudo e dei banchi prova esistenti in Polini con il supporto di tutto il know how acquisito
in decenni di esperienza nel mondo dei motori.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The unceasing research, the constant development, together with the experience acquired during the races, set
up THOR, the new 2 stroke paramotor engine proper for the paragliding usage. The project was born from the
studies and the planning skills of the R&D’s technicians who were able to find out the possibility to manufacture
a compact and light 2 stroke engine. Afterwards the developments and the perfect set up were possible thanks
to the testing technologies and to the test benches available at Polini together with the know-how acquired
during many years of experience in the races world.

Il motore Polini THOR si distingue per le più avanzate soluzioni. È stato progettato
con l’obiettivo di ottenere il miglior rapporto peso-potenza ottimizzando al
contempo tutte le funzioni termiche e delle masse volaniche. Particolare cura
è stata posta nell’impianto di raffreddamento per il quale si è optato per l’aria
forzata. Il comparto trasmissione comprende una frizione a bagno d’olio per la
massima stabilità.
HIGH PERFORMANCE AND PURE TECHNOLOGY
Polini Thor engine features advanced technical solutions. It was projected to
achieve the best weight-power ratio, but, at the same time, to optimize the thermal
and moving parts functions. The cooling system was studied with great care and
Polini opted for the forced air. The transmission group includes the clutch in oil bath
with maximum stability.

Anni quaranta, secondo dopo guerra, la
ricostruzione, Italia in bicicletta. E papà
Battista Polini torna dal fronte, inizia a
costruirle, le biciclette: ce n'è bisogno, si
vendono. Biciclette per i lavoratori, solide,
da andare sulle strade in terra battuta, sul
riso, sul pavè. Il telaio porta lo stemma
dell'ariete, non il segno zodiacale, ma
il battaglione dove papà ha detto ciao
alla gioventù. Poi siamo arrivati noi:
Carlo, Franco e poi Piero. E, giovinetti, anche noi giù in bottega
ad aiutare, il lavoro, il nostro mestiere; così ci è entrata dentro
la passione delle due ruote e della meccanica. Quando alla
fine degli anni cinquanta, col boom, la gente ha cominciato a
comprare i primi motorini, la vespa e la lambretta, noi eravamo
già pronti, eravamo davanti, e il papà con noi. Non c'è niente
da fare: se hai qualcosa nel sangue, prima o poi torna fuori. Col
tempo ci eravamo dispersi, avevamo perfino tradito le moto per
l'automobile, ma questo non era possibile. Il desiderio era là, la
moto, la passione, tutta la nostra esperienza. Uno di noi, Piero, ha
cominciato a correre, primi anni settanta, musica rock, minigonne,
maxigonne, moto Ancillotti, il motore Sachs non poco modificato,
cambio a sette rapporti. Vinse,"il Piero", tre titoli italiani "Enduro"
e da allora contare le vittorie è cosa impossibile: duecento,
trecento, forse più. L'entusiasmo, l'esperienza, il continuo lavoro di
perfezionamento ci hanno dato tante soddisfazioni. Con pazienza
siamo riusciti a scoprire i segreti di molti motori. Li abbiamo
migliorati, potenziati e perfezionati. Li abbiamo resi vincenti, sicuri
e affidabili. Sono modifiche per rendere più personale la propria
moto, tanto per il pilota che fa sport come per il divertimento e il
piacere del turista o dei ragazzi che si muovono in città. I nostri
prodotti sono caratterizzati dalla straordinaria qualità, che nasce
dalla sintesi di passione, esperienza e continuo aggiornamento.
La progettazione si realizza con l'aiuto di sofisticati programmi
CAD (Computer Aided Design). I test avvengono su banchi prova
a controllo elettronico e con l'impiego della telemetria. Le materie
prime vengono attentamente selezionate in base a parametri
qualitativi e sempre alla ricerca di quanto più perfezionato il
mercato può offrire. Le lavorazioni sono effettuate esclusivamente
mediante sistemi produttivi robotizzati e a controllo numerico. La
nostra sede POLINI-MOTORI è ad Alzano Lombardo e si estende
su 20.000 metri quadrati, dei quali 8.800 di magazzini e 3.000
tra uffici e reparto corse. A Bergamo abbiamo la POLINI-RICAMBI,
fornitissimo centro attrezzato su 2.500 metri quadrati. Abbiamo
impostato una rete commerciale dinamica, più di 3200 punti
vendita in Italia ed esportazioni in oltre 64 Paesi. Assicuriamo
quindi un altissimo livello di qualità anche nell'assistenza: perchè
il buono lo mettiamo non solo nei nostri pezzi, ma anche nel modo
in cui ve li diamo.

Processings are made exclusively through robotized production
systems and at numeric control. Polini Motori is in Alzano Lombardo
and extends on 20.000 square metres, 8.800 of which are our
stores and 3.000 are our offices and workshop. In Bergamo there
is the "Polini Ricambi", a completely furnished spare parts centre
on 2.500 square metres. We set out a dynamic commercial system
with more than 3.200 sale-points in Italy and exportations in more
than 64 Countries. Therefore we can grant you not only a very high
quality level but also a good service as the "Polini Motori" does the
better both for parts and for service.
SKATE
The forties, second post war period, the rebuilding, Italy on the
bicycle. Daddy Polini Battista comes back from the front and starts
to construct bicycles. They are needed and well sold. Bicycles for
workers, strong, to be used on beaten tracks, on the rise, on the
pavè. The frame bears the ram, not the zodiacal sign, but the
battalion coat of arms where daddy said "bye" to his youth. Then
we came: Carlo, Franco and Piero. And then, lads, we went down
to the shop to help: the work, our craft, so that the passion for
the two-wheels and the mechanics grew into us. When, at the end
of the fifties, thanks to the economical boom, people started to
buy the first mopeds, the "vespa" and the "lambretta", we were
already prepared, we were forward, and daddy with us. There is
nothing to do: if you have something in the blood, sooner or later it
comes out. With the time we dispersed, we also betrayed mopeds
for cars but it could not be forever as our desire was there, with
motorcycles: the passion, all our experience. One of us, Piero,
started racing. First seventies, rock music, miniskirts, maxiskirts,
Ancillotti bikes, the modified Sachs engine, shift at seven gears.
"Piero" won 3 "Italian Enduro titles" and from then it has been
impossible to count victories: two hundred, three hundred, maybe
more. The enthusiasm, the experience, the continuous work to
get improvements gave us many satisfactions. With patience we
found out all the secrets of many engines. We improved them, we
strengthened them and bettered them. We made them winners, safe
and reliable. These performance parts have been thought to make
the own motorcycle more personal, both for the rider who makes
sports and for tourists or guys who can enjoy themselves riding
in the city. Our products are characterized by the extraordinary
quality which is the product of the synthesis of passion, experience
and continuous renovation. The design is realized through the help
of sophisticated CAD (Computer Aided Design). Tests are made
on test-stands at electronic control and with the use of telemetry.
Raw materials are carefully selected according to the qualitative
parameters, we are always searching the best the market can offer.
